This is an IMPORTANT MESSAGE for Erik!!!: When you empty the diaper genie and pull the tied end of the bag down, pull it down FARTHER. There should be at least 5 or so inches of bag lying on the bottom of the genie. I’m telling you, it will last longer and you won’t have to empty it as often.

Any neurodiverse person knows the most satisfying feeling in the world as a kid (and adult) is just shoving your hands maybe halfway up the forearm deep in grains, birdseed, sand, small polished stones and even those big fill it yourself cat litter vats at petstores. Also totally agree with you on the yuck textures too, my trigger texture is grease, butter or oil. The amount of times I wash my hands while cooking is by far extremely unnecessary and it's amazing I haven't washed my skin off yet. Lol sensory issues ahoy

Colleens SAT question: 24 hours per day 18/24 = 3/4 so every 18 hours the trash is emptied Day 1: emptied at 18hrs (6pm) - so once a day Day 2: 6pm + 18hrs = 12pm noon - again only once Day 3: 12pm + 18hrs = 6am + 18hr = 24h (12am midnight) - therefore twice a day

I’m going to speak to the plus side of a toilet mat. When I’m in my own home absolutely yes to a toilet mat. But for the time being, I’m living at my daughters house while mine is being renovated because I’ve recently become disabled because of some back issues. So while I’m at my daughters house, I have to share the bathroom with my 18 year old and 16 year old Grandsons. Now you’d think they’re old enough to not be peeing on the wall behind the toilet, the floor in front of the toilet, all over the edge of the toilet so it runs down the front and sides. Ok. Now that I’ve completely 🤮 🤢 grossed out everyone. I’ve talked to my daughter, my Grandsons (repeatedly), the cat, the dog. It does no good. These boys are so amazing in the way they jump up and run to me anytime I’ve needed help (or needed anything). But I swear they are blind when they are in the bathroom. So yep, daily, I toss a clean towel on the floor in front of the toilet. I refuse to step in puddles of pee anymore in my socks, fuzzy slippers or bare feet. And I’m the only one that cleans the bathroom. I’ve made them take turns. But the same eyes that can’t see where they are peeing, also can’t see to clean it up! Lol. Rant over.

I’ll preface this with the fact that on my first birthday, my parents stuck my hands in birthday cake and I screamed until they washed my hands lol also, microfiber feels like it goes through ever ridge of my finger tip and I dry heave when I touch it. I hate grass bc it’s itchy and sand is by far the worst texture. I’m with you Colleen 😂

I remember sitting cross-legged on my sofa nursing my second child (big brother was almost 3, so... a lot) and feeling like I wasn't sure if I was going to survive how tired I was. That level of bone-deep exhaustion is crazy, and they have it harder than most of us, with two tiny babies. So much respect to them that they are still doing this. Colleen is a superhero, and I hope she knows it!

I’ve always been with Erik on the bath mat discussion. I feel like a lot of people are thinking about full restrooms which should have a bath mat. When it comes to guest half bath restrooms then there’s no need for a mat. Most times I use guest bathrooms I have shoes on and I can’t imagine the stuff that would be on guest bath mats if most people are stepping on them with shoes.

I feel so understood by Colleen… I also have ADHD and totally hate touching certain things, ESPECIALLY dirty dishes. The slimey-ness of the dirty dishes and I too hate the feeling of wearing gloves! My boyfriend always gives me shit for not doing the dishes but I adamantly hate it because of the textures/sensations the most. I also can’t stand the feeling of dander on short hair dogs (and some cats), if I pet a short haired dog I have to almost immediately wash my hands, despite loving dogs! However long haired dogs and cats I have no issue with, because they tend to not have the same type of texture/dander layer.

About the whole rooting topic, as a Brit I always thought it was called “routing”, which here is pronounced the same as “rooting” (I don’t know why, just English tings I guess lol), so my logic was that the rooting reflex was the baby searching for a source of food like you search for a destination with a map or something. But the only way I could liken the two is because English people pronounce both words the same, and so it makes sense why Americans or people that would rhyme “route” with “bout” and not “boot” wouldn’t make that messy connection like I did 😂
