For the life of me, I can not understand why positive stories like this about black people aren't being highlighted. All I see is hood life online. We need this message to get out to the young black youth that you can get paid legally!! I've seen so many black professionals in cybersecurity getting paid and honestly had no idea!! I love this.

So much respect for the transparency in these videos !!!.. Most of us who are interested in this field don't know how to get to this level, but with his honesty and not gatekeeping information he just charged the game for alot of us. And to those saying "he saying too much "... No matter how much information you give a person if they dont actively use it, it dont matter.. 95% of the people watching this video won't even do half the things he mentioned in this video !..

Just to address some of the concerns about disclosing the fact that he’s over employed, some of us only work 1099 contracts which mean we usually have control over how many clients we have as well as what type of work we will and will not do. I can speak openly about as many “contracts” as I want because I have complete autonomy.

Quick question. Is it best to tell the agency you want to be 1099 right away or later on to PMO?
@Rb_Laden6 ай бұрын
@@japhethbruce5733 That’s a good question, I have seen in one case where a person went from W-2 to 1099. In my case, I usually have the conversation about being 1099 upfront just to avoid anyone’s time being wasted. With that said, It never hurts to ask 🤷🏾♂️ I don’t see anything wrong with onboarding with a company as a W-2 worker and then having the conversation about being 1099 after you’ve built some rapport with them. Worst case scenario they say no, best case scenario they value having you on the team enough to figure out a way to get you what you want.

It's wild that to catch someones attention to being successful within their life, you have to pull teeth. I love the info, but I really wish we’d get out the “gotta prove” theater. People with common sense and good intentions will hear what you have to say. Stating what material possessions you own IS not only secondary, but it allows people to profile you and potentially bring harm to you. Like you do what you do. You’re not catering to knuckleheads and know it alls, because if they’re so busy watching then that means they don’t know it all. Can we’ll we just flow with the knowledge and minimize all the excessive show and tell? We’ve got to evolve past this type of thing-- end of day, be happy and have peace in what you do.

I feel like that overemployed life is going to bite a lot of folks in the butt. I'm a software engineer and in my career I've met one person who was fired and another who was fired as well as sued for having multiple jobs. For the second guy it was a multi-year legal battle that he ended up having to pay restitution for. Long story short company A proved that the source code he used at company B was pretty much identical to theirs.
@tam6011 Жыл бұрын
@@fadsa342 I think people will be fine. Its the company that is okay with it is the trick. Dealing with someone's source code is different then answering sales call. You can have two full time jobs in similar industries but do different work in each. What is the difference in doing 8 hours for ubereats and then working your job. Sure one is 1099 but its still work. What is difference in working customer service for delta (w2) and working your w2 tech job? That is the thing the companies have to be okay. If not get them in different areas where its something you can handle. TBH, most of the time people are putting work on fiver or upwork. I wont say any names but they have been doing it for decades.

Additionally, the more that folks shine a light on their own OE endeavors, the more attention it brings. Granted there are only certain career fields that scalable employment-in-parallel is applicable to and honestly it's not for most folks as the prep work, organization, and other skill sets needed are for the above average crowd in their respective industry. There are however HR pundits out there on the speaking circuit making it their mission to expose the phenomenon and try to get employers to root out folks that are trying to get ahead. I don't know much about this guy; he seems to be doing alright for himself and it sounds like he's 1099 (with less risk at play than a W2). Given the overall tempo and negative press toward OE, it's only a matter of time before it becomes increasingly more difficult than it already is and lifestyle creep could really burn some folks when they're unable to keep pace with the inflated income.
