I like those Collings guitars a lot. I've only had the chance to try one. It had a Lollar staple pickup in the neck position. I absolutely loved it. Though I couldn't afford the guitar I later bartered my way into a set of the same type Lollar pickups that were in it to put in my Aria PE90.

Great stuff and I'm glad you found some lefty guitars. I know they have to be extra expensive in Australia, but check out Kiesel / Carvin guitars. Every guitar they make is available as a lefty for no extra cost over the regular right handed models. Carvins can be found used for a descent price. I hope this helps. Rockin playing my man.

No such thing as a Jr. Special, it's one or the other. TOO expensive for a simple slab body guitar Gibson already charges too much for! You CAN'T really make a guitar of this type much better, it IS after all a slab mahogany body/neck with 2 P90s, doesn't GET any simpler.

I've wanted a Collings 290 for as long as I can remember but have not managed to justify the expense. I'd have to start a band and deduct the guitar form m,y income tax.

I hate painted necks so much! It has stopped me from purchasing guitars in the past and is the first thing I look for.Loath painted guitar backs also as it makes me wonder what is hidden from view.Nothing nicer than a nice clear coated mahogany back on a guitar.What about other channel viewers?
