I was at a few of these games...the goal against Cats at Waverley...we kinda stood there with our mouths open for five minutes wondering about what we'd just seen. And the goal in the GF...it was a real arm-wrestle until this Freak broke the game open ... I wasn't at the Eagles Elim Final but it's probably the best goal I've seen...l absolutely love this guy.

I did play Aussie Rules till I was 14 in fact I played both till I was 14! My dad told me to make a decision and pick one I tossed a coin it came up football AKA soccer....

Undoubtedly my favourite player as a kid. Loved seeing him play at Vic Park and Waverley. There were plenty more besides these 10. I remember against Richmond in 1990 at Vic Park. Terry Keays had no idea how to play him that day. No one did.

I was there at a packed Princes Park in 1981 Round 6 vs Carlton when he had Bruce Doull on toast and had him moved off him before half time. Ended up kicking 7 and was playing b/w centre and half forward.

Very interesting to note that the top 2 goals on his ratings list were both kicked at the Wellington Road end of VFL Park. There was at least one other goal kicked at that end among this lot, so he must have had a knack for finding those goals whenever he played there. I expected the one in the Qualifying Final against the Eagles in 1990 to be at no. 1. It was the most freakish of all the miraculous goals that Daics ever kicked. At the time Darren Millane had a broken hand when he handballed the ball to him to set up that goal.

the way his sons are going he might end up being the third best diacos, his sons are both elite players too, and they shone through in there first years, usually a new kid has to adjust and build up, but his sons just went out onto the field and you could see there skill right from day one, and they have a whole career ahead of them both ???

Had to laugh Daics describing the soccered goal at number 8 being 10-15 yards (9-14m) out on a slight angle. Lucky to have met him a few times over the years and he’s beyond modest but that description is overdoing it 😆
