I’m from this area. I remember folks being panic stricken for many years. We always suspected someone posing as police. There is massive amount of federally reserved-restricted land surrounding the historical area. I always thought the couple could be buried there. Because digging is not allowed, I don’t think it was ever checked… Prayers to the victim’s family, friends and community. 🙏

Keith's dad - are you kidding me? He sees his son's car abandoned on the side of the road, doors open, keys in the ignition - and he just walks away??? That is so so bizarre. I'm sure if he told police after the son and girlfriend were presumed dead he would have been considered a suspect. I know he wasn't responsible, but that could not have been his shining moment.

Okay so the odd thing I noticed about the first crime was the diesel fuel!! Why that accelerant? I think this person most likely had a diesel generator or tractor or other piece of machinery diesel powered!! Reason I say that is that it seems it was something of opportunity because if they had siphoned it out they would have used gasoline! Most likely someone living in the more rural areas who has little interaction with the public! Just my opinion though!!

A smalltime fisherman who died in 2017 has been linked to three cold-case homicides in Virginia from the 1980s, including two that were among a series of unsolved slayings of couples known as the "Colonial Parkway Murders," law enforcement officials announced Monday. Virginia State Police identified the suspect as Alan W. Wilmer Sr., but offered few details about how he's tied to the killings, which occurred in 1987 and 1989, or when he became a suspect. However, authorities said Wilmer would be charged if he were alive.

Seems to me, that if this were someone impersonating law enforcement, there’d a high probability that he’d have attempted a stop, and that he may of failed to convince his target(s) of his legitimacy. I wonder if there was any reports of that type at the time of these instances?
