Color Analysis: Do You Have “Olive” Skin Tone?

@milena11570 me too! I bought a blue corrector & added it to my warm makeup & it matched so much better. I'm so glad the lady at the beauty counter suggested it.

Okay, so even if it’s not an undertone, and even if Olive is rare, those of us that have it still desperately NEED to see it represented in some of these videos and we could use pointers toward some potential colors for us. I am a fair-light Olive with freckles (25% Sicilian & 30% Scottish being my biggest ethnic components), medium ashy brunette, brown (almost black) eyes, and surface redness from hyper sensitive skin. I just end up living in black because almost every other color seems to clash with some part of my skin. 😔

Totally agree with you! Check out Merriam Style (she has tons of olive videos) and Alexandra Anele (she's a very fair olive). I think you'll find what you're looking for.

@@jennyb3811 I already follow them both. Unfortunately Alexandra is a warmer olive than I am, and she doesn’t have all the freckles I do, which means most of her makeup tips don’t work for me 😕

Jen Vax (Your Color Style) has a little video I watched recently where she suggested a palette for olive skin tones. She also mentioned that mauve will usually look fantastic because it will help balance the green. Now I'm wondering if that's why I look so good in green, because my skin is a very pale mauve, lol.

Great explanation! However, Olive skin tones are very, very common if not the norm, in parts of the world like most of Asia and the Middle East, and they vary in degrees of light to dark and also from yellow to green. And it’s usually very difficult for us to find foundation/makeup which suits us as they tend to be either too cool or too warm, so we usually wind up mixing multiple shades to get something which looks correct on us- and we wish the makeup industry would finally come out with better matching foundations for us.

I have a cool undertone (I have some green veins but A LOT of blue and purple veins) with yellow overtone when I tan and I guess that makes me look a little olive but idk man I feel like greenish mauvish makeup made for "olive" or "cool" tone looks terrible on me BUT at least it doesn't look as bad as when I wear warm tone. Wearing warm tone colours really make me look like an off-brand barbie. Orange tinted anything are seriously THE WORST for me. That being said, cool tone colours also look terrible on me since when I use cool tone suddenly my lips always looks too warm since those made for eye looks tend to be super grey. I try to stick to dark winter season colour makeup since my skin is rather light most of the time so my yellow when tanned doesn't show up so much these days but goddamn this was HARD..

I feel like people mix up having a warm, medium skin overtone as them being olive when they aren't. I think thats why so many people say they're olive because of the idea that their medium skin tone = olive.

I don’t know how Olive can be a makeup term when that skintone has always been woefully underrepresented in makeup products.

I agree that olive skin is not an undertone, it is the color of someone’s skin, but it can absolutely have a warm undertone. Not all olive skin is cool. And olive skin can come in any shade from fair to deep. There is so much misinformation about olive skin out there .
