That sucks... Here, the Rockford Speedway is closing after 75 years. Luckily we still have a couple tracks left, but probably not for long. So many tracks are closing for retail and housing development.

Bandimere isn’t the first, nor last, to fall. Drag racing was fueled by boomers and Gen-Xers. It’s a beautiful part of the 20th century. Millennials and Gen Z seldom drag race. They go to the streets because it’s a “short cut” to go fast. I grew up at drag strips in the 90s, and I had a 10-he amateur racing career from 2007-2016. I was CRUSHED when the best strips here in TX started closing up. The operating costs are high, attendance is inconsistent, and commercial developers hunt that land like SHARKS. It’s easier for track owners to sell off the land and assets and retire early. Sad and true. 😢🥺😩🥵 Look out for my name and face in the 6pm news if HHR ever closes (Harris Hill Raceway - San Marcos, TX) HHR is our last stronghold in my area for Motorsport enthusiasts. (Road racing) Don’t give up, Trey. And don’t stop chasing your 🐐 dreams with the GTO.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a press release this winter that says it's over for drag racing in the Denver area. Bandimere will say something about how they couldn't find the land or something like that because he never had any intention of rebuilding. Tracks are dying around the country, why would he spend millions on a new one? I wish he would, but, does it make sense? PMP (Pueblo) is almost in my backyard, and they're really supporting 1/8 mile, no prep racing as if it's the future. Maybe it is.

The kids are just cashing out. Like all the other land deals in Denver there will just be apartments there. Sucks what's happened to our town but I guess that's progress
