@@OutsideComfortZone That would be great! I'll be the slow mover with the camera gear :-)

Great tips! I'm having to tweak my trip a bit (Grrrr.) I have had some family commitments come up. I didn't want to cancel all of my hostel/hotel reservations, so it looks like I will be jumping on the trail at the Kenosha/Jefferson trailhead. I will have to flip flop back there from Durango and then finish up in Waterton. Kind of a pain but - 🤷♀️. I can't wait! Thanks again for the video. (those sunglasses are lit BTW.)

That's a bit of a bummer about having the change plans, but the whole spirit of a through-hike is problem solving, so I think this sounds like a great plan. It's going to be great no matter what!

Good info. Ever stay in Creede? Yes, working toward the end of June as my start date. Yours?
@OutsideComfortZone3 жыл бұрын
About the same. I think I will be on the trail by the 29th or 30th depending on how long it takes me to get to Colorado from Georgia by car. I haven't stayed in Creede before, but I think I might try this year since I'd love to know more about it. Do you have any intel on it? Hope you're doing well, Steve!
@stevenkaminski77713 жыл бұрын
@@OutsideComfortZone No real intel on my end. You probably saw that there's a Haul A Hiker Service (posted on fb: Colorado Trail 2021 group) service from the trail into Creede eluding to the idea that it might be a tough hitch. The town looks interesting to me and there are a few places to stay if desired.

I think I missed that post, so I’m glad you mentioned it! I love Lake City for a dozen reasons, but I’d be game to see Creede too if I could get there easily. Hope I get to meet you somewhere between Denver and Durango.

Hey I’m a little late in watching these. In 2016 hiking the CDT we took the creede cut off. Most CT hikers will go to Lake City, but Creede is a great little mountain town. It’s 10miles on a dirt road. We of course walked it. Little traffic, though it is access to San Luis peak, so you could get lucky. Haul a hiker service would be awesome and make me likely to do it. Lodging can be scarce and not great to resupply. Lots of great shops and restaurants 👍

Your first tip should be 1) Hire a Sherpa". Second tip, 2) if a bear makes it up to Snow Mesa, good for him. Take my food.

Little do you know, I have an elaborate plan in place to challenge a fellow KZbinr from Colorado to race me up that pass while she and her dog Remy carry my gear. It's sneaky, but I feel like it might work. And I agree with you about bears on Snow Mesa. I have had a mountain lion and her cubs check out my tent up high (found her footprints the next morning), but I doubt mountain lions want my Fruit by the Foot.

@@OutsideComfortZone Mountain lions are totally into Gushers anyways. Moose prefer Fruit Striped Gum. (Yikes! Stripes!)

I can! Maybe I can do a big three video as soon as this week. Do you have a piece of gear you love? I'm always looking to learn more!
