Donations
I am not comfortable adding this to my site or KZbin channel. I receive many emails and messages asking me how people can help support The Art Gear Guide, mainly I think due to the fact that I purchase all of the supplies myself, except those sent directly from companies kind enough to do so. I have decided to add a donations button to my site, however, I feel the best way to add such a campaign is as follows, all donations made will be used to purchase art products for review, however, all products purchased using donated funds, after they have been reviewed, will be used as giveaways to subscribers of the KZbin Channel, the web site or any of the above social media platforms. This way I personally will not benefit from financial donations. I have set this channel and site up for my own enjoyment and not profitable gain. I feel with this support method, everyone wins but not in a financial.

My Own Personal Art
I would not exactly call myself an artist in the true sense of the word, however I absolutely love art as it has helped me immensely dealing with clinical depression due to my battle with constant chronic pain and disability. Follow the link to check out my own projects bit.ly/2qAa7BN
Thank You
Finally, thank you so much for all of your support, without all of you, this channel and The Art Gear Guide would simply not be the same. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the review, Harry! I would totally have a few of these systems if I had a dedicated coloring space. Since I use my materials in the den, I keep everything stored in zippered cases on a rolling cart in the closet. However, if I could display my beautiful pencils, this would definitely be the perfect one!

One advantage this system seems to have over drawers is that the desk "footprint" is less - you don't need to be pulling out a drawer looking for the pencils. I have cases that I have not yet pressed into service, but these look pretty practical if I ever get a desk!

Harry, thank you for another great video, short pencils shouldn't be an issue, because of pencil extenders or placing them at the opening of each resting position. I have used the old yellow brick pen as an extender. I remove the ink and nib section and insert the pencil in the back end of the bic casing, this does depend on the circumference of the pencil stub. I do shave some of the pencil stub to fit. The bic pens are very cheap and can be purchased in boxes of 12 for a few dollars. I love the robax products and have their 80 well watercolour wheel palette, which is a brilliant system, plus the owners of robax give excellent service and information, as well ask artists for feedback, so that they can improve or develop new products. I couldn't speak more highly of this company! Just a pleasure to deal with them.

Sandy you are so right, the gentleman I have been dealing with from Robax has been an absolute gentleman and incredibly professional, always eager to help and make sure the customer is happy. A very professional company anther thing that makes buying from them a pleasure, having that piece of mind that it is a professional company you are dealing with and not just someone out to make a few extra £$ from us. Fantastic company and people.

Great video Harry. Thanks for showing us such a cool system. It would certainly be better than the vases and jars I use just now which I've lined with bubble wrap to protect the pencils from knocks. All the best as always, Jane :)

I am the same as you Jane, I used jars etc and layered with cotton wool on the bottom to stop the pencils shattering when dropping them in.

I purchased this after seeing your video. I was so excited to get it. Assembly was simple. As I put my pencils in the tray, my shorter ones slid to the back. I returned it today. I've been thinking about it since and perhaps putting those little bands (like for braces) on the end of the pencil might stop them from sliding. I need to color in my bed and sure wanted this to work. 😫

Did you do anything different to avoid the pink/purple screen events?
@TheArtGearGuide
@TheArtGearGuide 7 жыл бұрын
Sue Wilkinson yeah it was just down to such high resolution still images. It always happened when the still images appear and so over loads of testing I reduced the resolution by half. Thing is it is sorted now and won't happen again, touch wood, however it shouldn't be the case. I should be able to upload the highest resolution images I can get so I think it is either a problem with the software Final Cut Pro or the uploading process to KZbin and KZbin not being able to handle the high resolution images. In Final Cut Pro, once you have edited the video you have loads of options to share the video. One is directly to your KZbin channel, which is the one I normally use. However, you can also just dump the video file on your desktop, which is not a compressed file. Now when I dump the video to my desktop, there was never any problems with the images, but once I uploaded it to KZbin the purple screen would distort the images. It has been a really frustrating process but I have finally just had to admit defeat and reduce the resolution of the images by half and this way the video is without problems.
@suewilkinson910
@suewilkinson910 7 жыл бұрын
Well that was a good result, albeit a bit odd (as you said, shouldn't happen) and very frustrating for you to find and work around. It's so weird that the screen looked just like a fault that came up randomly on my old monitors at work. Obviously a completely different issue but looked more or less the same. I'd be typing away and the suddenly the screen would go black for a second and then give me a grey/pink/purplish looking screen which dithered. I could not work and just had to sit it out. Thankfully I solved that issue by replacing the screens. Lets hope it's the last time either of us have to deal with that weird looking issue.

Apparently, without counting any markers, gel pens, fineliners, etc. I have 1260 pencils, which includes my colored pencils and my watercolor pencils. I am supposed to get 36 in the mail. That would be a lot of little shelves :D

Diana Mc wow that is an awesome amount of pencils, but your predicament would be the same whatever the storage system. I have the same issue as you, only because I review supplies, but I just store my most used pencils in this system. Mind you 36 of these storage system, displaying 1260 pencils would look pretty amazing. Thank you for stopping by the channel.

Thats what a lot of people use the top tray for, they put all their really tiny pencils on the top try were you can see it. But excellent point and one I forgot to talk about.
@ArabKatib
@ArabKatib 7 жыл бұрын
Ah I see! Excellent point! :-) But no no, I meant @ 3:10, the people who will use the trays upright! The short tiny pencils will always fall inside.. :-) As for the leveled style, yeah you can always keep the short ones reachable and not push them all the way in.. However, you can use another pencil end with a tiny piece of note gum or sticky tack, and press and pull it out.. :o)
@TheArtGearGuide
@TheArtGearGuide 7 жыл бұрын
Yes you are so right, for those that use them on the wall, they would be in trouble using it for the tiny pencils. Excellent point but I think if we look at it as the company intended, as you mentioned mate, pencil extenders will also help.

@TheArtGearGuide
@TheArtGearGuide 7 жыл бұрын
Excellent point, I never really considered people with allergies, bit selfish of me. But you have made an excellent point. I will say this mind, I am not sure how bad things need to be for people with allergies, but we have two big hairy Siberian Huskies in the house and Ive had this system for about two weeks or more now and the pencils have not developed a build up of dust, at least not for someone without allergies. I guess some of it might also depend on how often you use the pencils and moving them about etc. excellent point.

I really like the look of the Derwent Carry Bags, I haven't tried one of them yet but it is high on my list of to buy lol. You are right about the small pencils, but as I forgot to mention, when people use the top tray for erasers and sharpeners etc, they also place all their real tiny pencils up there, plus, you don't have to push the pencil all the way to the end, you can just place it on the end, in fact a lot of the pencils on mine are really short, just not pushed all the way through.
@mrsearlgrey
@mrsearlgrey 7 жыл бұрын
I looked at the Derwent bag but, aside from the fact that I don't go anywhere, I saw some reviews on quality issues and also complaints on the cost of the extra 'leaves.' It did seem like a really good idea though.
@Venuszenith
@Venuszenith 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Diana I personally have not had a problem with the Derwent bags they hold 176 pencils between 4 leaves which is brilliant for me, I too do not go anywhere I hang them up on a door hanger in my craft room and are easy to grab when I want a certain set of pencils.

I use a Derwent carry bag with a set of extra leaves. I think that makes 5 leaves in total. It's a bit full feeling with that many leaves, but it means everything is where I want it to be and I move my colouring from room to room or into the gardening so it's handy. If I were going out sketching I'd remove a few leaves and then I could add drawing stuff and a small drawing pad. The quality seems fine with mine. I have no idea why the cost of the extra leaves is so high though.
