The first WRC that had been released for PlayStation 2 was one of the games that came on the demo disc that was included with my system. I wasted so many hours on that demo and eventually the first game! Since then, I have always had a soft spot for the franchise, especially on PS2. I had played all of them, with the least time spent with the fifth game: WRC: Rally Evolved. Not that it's a bad game, but I just haven't played it as much. Any chance you're going to be reviewing WRC II: Extreme, WRC 3, WRC 4 and WRC: Rally Evolved? I'd love to know your opinions on it!

This was one of the first games I had on the PS2 and I enjoyed it a lot. It always felt to me that the cars pivoted on an axis instead of following the front wheels though, if you understand my meaning.

Please review the rest of the series all the way up to Evolved if possible. Evolved has random event generator which is quite rare even for modern rally games, it improve replay value a lot. It also has the best co-driver voice acting I'd ever seen so far...

I know it's old comment but there are a lot of WRC games on Steam now, starting with WRC 5, they're region free I think... and pretty cheap. Though made by different developer, this studio went to make Motorstorm and Drive Club.

This is my all time favourite rally game. It so much more fun than dirt rally which is the latest rally game ive been playing. This game is great even with the regular game pad. The vibration feedback is perfect. You feelnde diffirence between the different road surfaces in a really convinsing way. I really prefer chorded controllers due to stronger vibration function.

I remember being a big WRC fan as a kid, I had my parents record as many clips as possible onto VHS whenever I wasn't able to watch them and I would watch those over and over again. I really wanted a PS2 at the time because the WRC games seemed like the greatest thing ever and the low budget PC rally games got annoying, and on christmas in I believe 2003 I got my PS2 and a copy of WRC 3. It was one of the best days of my life and that PS2 still lives with me and I use it regularly. I still have some save games that are dated 2003 for various games so I should really check those out

The music is absolutely phenomenal, it has that early 2000s trance aesthetic. Faithless absolutely killed the theme menu. It also envelops the atmosphere of the game and the licensed soundtrack is full of post-grunge/alternative rock which suits a proper racing game. Not sure if your music taste evolved but calling it trash is absurd.

You should review WRC Rally Evolved. It is the best WRC game in the series but the most underrated one of them all.

There was a bug where the car shadow would disappear. Really off putting. Also just coz you don't like Rollo, Garbage and Way Out West that doesn't make the music bad.

It's funny the way the co-driver tells it the wrong way. Right 6 in this game means a really hard turn right, while in reality the signature McRae's style was the weakest turn right (told as right 6).
