Just an FYI: Horizon 3 is currently on sale until iirc September 27th this year. After that, it and it's DLC will no longer be available for sale. Microsoft announced this like a day ago. So, you might want to make sure you already have it and any DLC you want before you can't get it!

Other tip: dont buy the Ultimate Edition hoping to get the Festival Expansions because it doesnt, the Ultimate edition just includes the car pass (paid cars) and vip (5 cars and double credits after events). Buying the standard edition plus the season pass is better.

Sad thing is i personally might miss it, i strugled to find time to finally get into a Forza game even when i had opportunities, while i heard of this announcment happening and i was eager to get it, Forza Horizon 4 is also on sale, which for me is going to be a better choice to finally get into the series. I might consider at end of september the standard edittion, yes the DLC will be lost but at least its better than waiting for 'okay now im justified to pirate it'.

What really amazes me is how the songs played at the radio have gained such a massive popularity like no other game has ever achieved. So many of them sit on 100M downloads now and remember, most of these songs were new at the time the game came out. It really adds to the feeling of a festival not only about cars, but also about partying, and it shows that whoever was put to choose songs for the soundtrack had really good taste

I still love FH1 and it's my favourite Horizon! The atmosphere, the music, the races, etc. are amazing and I feel the sequels haven't really captured that same feeling this game has. Although it doesn't have over 700 cars like FH4 does, it makes the ones in FH1 more special and personal.

FINALLY. I bought this game in 2013, and haven't been able to stop playing it since. The physics, cars, graphics (for it's time at least) and most of all: the feeling of the festival itself. Just Perfect.

@Austin Batton The only thing that keeps FH4 alive are SOME of the online lobbies and the weekly playlists, FH1 was a much better game imo, it had less cars, a smaller map but the whole experience just feels better... In FH4 it feels like the developers lost their passion...

This game literally saved my life. I got out of a toxic relationship and had to crash with a friend for a while and I was in a really dark place. But he had a 360 and a copy of this game so I poured a lot of myself into this game, basically just kind of lost myself in it as an escape, and honestly, it was a huge part of getting back on my feet. I literally bought my own 360 after years of being only a Sony guy simply to get a copy of this game later on. Doesn't matter how much I love any other game, this one will always hold a special place in my heart.

People say that people who say "Forza Horizon 1 is my favorite of the series" are just nostalgic or something, but that's not true. This game just did it's own thing and it did it almost perfectly. They should've build upon this instead of what they did with the sequels.

I do prefer FH2 overall, but FH1 definitely had the best atmosphere out of all of them. 3 and 4 don't even feel like a festival anymore, and have no real progression and haven't really moved the series past FH2 feature wise.

@@BFIFE22G35 I didn't play FH2 that much to be honest. I have seen a lot of gameplay of it and personally I think that the FH1 map looks the best out of all four. FH4 map kinda sucks imo. It feels like you're on a racetrack all the time and I think that that's what they were going for. Nonetheless they are all very good games though.

Forza Horizon 1: hey, we have restrictions on these events meaning you can only drive a particular car, that way you get to drive something you probably wouldn't normally drive Forza Horizon 2: hey, you wanna do every event in that Supra/BMW/Dodge Charger you got at the start, you can do that, as there are no restrictions *at all*

7:17 THIS TIMES 1000! IMO the should have kept that system, where you had to complete an event using a certain type of car, like 1990 convertible A-class, and when you finished it, then you yourself can change the parameters and customize the event to your liking.

I think in 3 makes sense because you are the "MC" of the festival. On 2 when you win the Festival it doesnt feel that it is yours. On 4 it was just carried from 3 without any thought put into it. Even though in theory I could win the entire FH3 with one car, I still used different cars and changed the events because it felt so interesting making varied events, contrary to FH2 which you only choose the car class and place to start the same 4 races.

This game, so many memories. It already started when I got an invite to a closed "launch event" on a military airfield in The Netherlands. A huuuuge car show that already gave off a "horizon feel" with DJ's, parties, car and bike stunts outside, many beautifull cars... It was simply amazing. And then starting up the game, starting in a VW Corrado and slowly building up hype and fame and car collection. Everything was perfect in that game. FH2 was... I dont know, not thát impressive? FH3 was again impressive though, but the story and way of presentation was lackluster imo. The driving, events, tracks, roads, etc, were all perfect. FH4 i have yet to play.

Fh4 isn’t exactly a bad game, but it doesn’t feel anything like the original forza horizon, I don’t get any festival feel at all, no real cutscenes, no “bosses” but that’s just my opinion, although it’s my least favorite in the series I have played it quite a bit and it was received incredibly by the press

I agree with Anthony. Horizon 4 is abides by a different philosophy, where the only 'new' things are altering seasons and purchasing houses. The devs focused more upon the (beautiful) map and adding more and more notable cars through updates. It's kinda sad to admit that you haven't missed out on anything with Horizon 4. It's a good fun game but I find myself reminiscing the older titles.

@@PedzRR I really like FH4, but it is true that the "magic" of the first Horizon just isn't there. They put a TON of work into FH1, experimenting and creating something entirely new, while its sequels only improved on what was already made (or altered in terms of storytelling). However, the business aspect of FH4 was brilliant, like side stories with benefits for completing them. The Isha's Taxis side story was pretty cool. Even Top Gear made a reappearance, where the player would take the role as The Stig, and some of the challenges were pretty tough to beat. Now if only we could get the first game remastered, and also released on PC... well I would have loved to play that one again

This game had SO many showcase events and chances to win free cars which was cool. Could even get upgrades for 100% free from smashing boards and this is where a lot will disagree with me. I liked not having off-road vehicles in this game and it had some really cool Supercars that never came back. I even liked having to use certain cars for certain events as it encouraged me to get a lot of variety in my cars. As far as I can say, this game will never die.

@@tek1645 nah it lost its magic. The new ones lack depth. Yes, the racing is arguable better as you can fine tune your car, but they went full corporate and completely ditched what made the first game unique. The first was a completely new thing for forza. A big aspect of the first was the music festival, which I would argue they've put on the sideline almost entirely. Look at the cover art for all 5 games, do any of them have the festival on the cover besides the first? No. The game also lacks any form of solid narrative. That's not to say that the game doesn't do well as an open world game, but if they're gonna take that route just fucking commit to it. The story was the main reason the first was t for Teen which they never want to happen again. The 5th one players are spoon fed everything and treated like Car Jesus who could never do anything wrong. I'm not gonna say that I don't enjoy the later installments. However, the new Forza Horizon games just become more and more soulless, created primarily to gain mass appeal and help sell xbox game pass. I can enjoy racing in FH5, but that's it. The environment doesn't have that festival feel despite there being multiple outposts, it's just an open world with trash music playing. PGG and Turn 10 sacrificed quite a but of what made the first one stand out when making the new ones

Aussie here: You're gonna LOVE Horizon 3. They really nailed the look. There's gum trees everywhere, and it really does feel like parts of the Gold Coast and maybe Queensland. A lot of games have Australia levels, and it's more them saying "This is set in Australia", with nothing to show for it, like Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Rest assured, you'll be impressed

This game is very special to me it influenced my life in a big way. I have family that lives in Colorado and we would always drive to Denver to go see them. I live in New Mexico ( the state below Colorado ) and it would be so amazing to see all the locations in the game in person on the way to Denver. That town in game is a recreation Golden Colorado. That's where Coors is brewed, anyways I loved all Motorsport titles as a kid. The biggest influence on me was actually the in game music. It made me fall in love with EDM, Denver was the bass capital of the world. It felt like I lived in horizon when I would go to red rocks to see the same artists that were in the game soundtrack. I will always love this game.

shadowspike74 This is true but from what I recall the 360 version was worked on by Sumo Digital who brought us all the OutRun 2 ports (props to them for that) but I feel this was too big of a project for them with this game as graphically it was a massive step back from Horizon 1. Perhaps the conspiracy theorists were onto something when it was said that the 360 version was purposely made to look like ass so as to boost sales for the Xbone console release.

The guy who was brought in to compile the licensed soundtrack for this game is DJ Robert John Gorham, the founder of the real life Bestival festival. That's why the soundtrack on Horizon 1 in particular is so catchy!

I randomly developed a crush on the ‘71 Skyline, so it became my character’s “personal vehicle.” If it was legal to run in an event, I ran it. I wanted to see just how far I could push it. Far, it turns out. Only the last two races of the game were too much for it (its younger sibling from ‘12 handled those just fine. Thanks for the end game ride, Marko!). I won several Gold events in it, just to prove I could. Maxed out at 195 mph by the time I was done. D to R3. That little storyline WAS the game for me. I will make sure I own that car in every Forza game that has it going forward. And I’m sure other people have “that” car for themselves, too.

I remember seeing an ad in the Microsoft store at Mall of America that this game was $15 on sale. I couldn't resist and I don't remember exactly when I bought it, but it was fairly new. Best $15 I ever spent on a game. Loved every second of it.

12:50 I always thought the handling stat in Horizon is higher because they don't have to be compared to LMPs later Formula 1 cars. Like a 10 in a Horizon is a Zonda R where as a 10 in Motorsport means LMP/Formula 1

Went on a massive splurge during lockdown and bought all the Forza Horizon games as I'd always looked at them as one of the few types of game that there's nothing really similar to on the PS4. Within minutes of loading up Forza Horizon i was blown away by how much it felt like an open world DiRT 2 in terms of presentation, which was exactly looking for. With top notch handling too this game felt anything like an 8 year old game!

Horizon was the Forza game I wanted to play when I first played the first motorsports in 2006. I didn't even play simulation racers back then but Forza had me hooked. Horizon was like a dream come true lol

I had lots of fun with the rally dlc, as well as achieving like, 94% of the game + online "for fun" playlists were a lot of fun too. This game is very nostalgic to me and I very much so hold it close to my heart.

I have so many memories with this game. It was the first forza game I ever played, along with Motorsport 4. Both are excellent games.

Great Review Spencer. Glad you've now joined the Horizon appreciation club finally. I kinda knew you'd love them. I've been following you from almost the beginning and have been excited to seeing you get around to these . I hope you'll give us a good insight to how FH3 compares to the real world. I've been to Oz many years ago, and I found that it felt a pretty good representation. Byron Bay is a lot nicer in real life though.. :0)

I remember that the demo convinced me to buy this one, it was spectacular. I don't know how it is nowadays but the multiplayer enjoyment was on par with the singleplayer, so many mini games and modes, king of the hill and infected were so much fun. Great video as always.

This one and Horizon 2 and the only ones worth playing and truly gave you that Horizon feel. You had a purpose to play unlike 3 and 4 where you have no limitations or restrictions. This is what defined Horizon.

Forza horizon is my favorite game of this franchise, I’ve played and came back to all previous forzas but this is the one I have seen myself come back to the most, something about the Colorado vibe and the beautiful soundtrack, seriously, this is one of the, if not the best video games soundtrack, this and ncaa football 14 is the only reason I still have my Xbox 360

Great channel mate and awesome review. I loved Horizon 1 still go back to it on Xbox one X and got it day one and all dlc. So many feels and some great updates with the game too. With lockdown I’m on a major Forza mission to increase my Forza hub to tier 14 before the new Forza comes out and finish Up some Forza titles too. Doing Forza 2 at the moment amazing game. My first Forza was 3 then 4 and horizon 1 and 2 Xbox 360 then went ps4 :/ for Gran Turismo etc then went Xbox one with a Xbox one S then Forza 7 Forza 6 all dlc in both and then Forza 5 (lost my original lvl 160 save file), then Horizon 2 Xbox one, horizon 3 and horizon 4. I have a lot of racing to do to finish up some games to increase my Forza hub 😱. Anyway awesome channel love your reviews keep it up.

I love this game! It’s very close to being perfect. The only thing that keeps it short of that is the fewer cars compared to FMS 4 and the engine noise. NFS games take the cake on that. Nevertheless, I had great fun playing it and many memories.

A Re-Release for PC (including Steam) would be awesome! It was my first game on the 360. I can remember when i played for the first time Motorsport 4 on my sort of cousins 360. The same day i told my parents i wanted to spend my money one of it, the same year on my birthday i got it. First when i saw it i was (Finally i can play Forza M4... wait... thats not Motorsport, thats Horizon." I was sad until i played it and got to the intro. Heartwarming
