Great video. Just an FYI: reason amperage climbs when truck is off is because voltage drops, but power requirements stay the same, and amperage increases to make up for it. When off guessing voltage on good battery about 13.2 VDC and when running voltage usually about 14.4 VDC. Again, very helpful! Thanks.

Thank for this. I wanted to help others to understand the Amps difference. It has to do with Voltage. The formula is Amps = Watts X Voltage. When the vehicle is running, often the voltage runs 12.5 to 13.5 volts dependent of the alternator. When not running the voltage coming from the batteries are often less. Using 60 watt light times the voltage, you can see why the difference in amps can happen. Thanks again, it was very helpful.

So I'm thinking the amperage is likely different because when off the truck sits at 12-13 volts vs 14-15 when running and the lights pull more amperage to make the same power when off. Awesome job explaining the up-fitter switches, they're crazy simple when you explain them lol.

A KZbin boy showed a cool idea. Under the truck somewhere middle of the truck find a spot to mount an electrical terminal junction strip that has a cover on it. Marine grade. Then connect a long enough piece of wire to each of the six upfitter wires. Then run those six wires neatly down to that terminal junction strip. Connect all six wires to one side of the TJ strip using appropriate ring terminal. Using a helper (to make it easier) ask your helper to throw switch 1. Find that wire with your Volt Ohm Meter. Label that wire #1. Now go find and label #s 2-6 same way. Attach the TJ strip cap. Now anytime you want to wire something up to an upfitter switch just roll under your truck and terminate your hot / power lead of your device (light, horn, etc) to the appropriate TJ block terminal - again with a ring. Basically this moves all the wires from in the hood space to under the truck where it is a whole lot easier to maneuver. Plus they are now labeled 1-6. Why the FU_K Ford doesn’t number them for you I’ll never know. Horrible of them. By the way - my 2022 manual gives me a table that shows what color wires go to which switch. However when I was hooking my back up lights up I found out that the wire colors they installed on my truck don’t match the wire table colors. I had to find the right wire by ringing it out with my VOM as previously stated. I’m gonna go do that TJ block idea at some point. That’s a good idea.

Now, make a video on the high idle hack for a 2020. For that mod there is a secondary upfitter wire harness firewall pass through is located in the passenger side kick panel above the fuse panel. Ford engineers didn’t provide long enough firewall passthrough cables. Installing the resister there is a huge pain in the butt! Great video on the reverse lights! Stay safe!

Either the engineers got a laugh at how short they could make the wires and call them pass through, or the bean counters saved two cents and shortened them all by a couple inches. You have to be a contortionist to hook up to them.

Hey there. So the reason behind the felt and light. Is 1. Is for weight 2. The felt didn't really do anything. It was meant to quiet down engine noise. It's not needed. 3. The light is an option. It's also generally not needed. So ford decided to save some money there as the truck is overly expensive anyway.

Is there a way to swap out the actual switch from a toggle switch to a switch that springs backs. So if you added another horn for example, it won’t stay on when you flip the switch, just as long as you are holding it down…

The upfitters themselves are fused. You don’t need one but it’s always good to put one. A lot easier and faster to change a inline fuse then the upfitter fuses. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Well, because if somebody is riding my ass or bright lighting me, I just flip a switch and they back up. Also, I pull a trailer a lot and when I get to the camp, I just flipp the switch on with my truck in park and I can load or unload all my gear for hunting and everything else I need and I can see fine. Use them all the time when my trucks in park. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

2022 f550 passenger side upfitter wired swicth 1,2,3 to lights under 10 amp of lights on these 25 amp switches. One week after switches 1,2,3,4 do not light up. i have power to fuses and realsy but nothing coming out to upfitter wire or switches do not light up inside.truck andy more. ir there any other fuses that run these switches? So I hooked up a camera for a camper and ran 16 gauge wire out to the battery. Connected ground to the neg post and positive to the correct upfitter wire (aux1). Didnt work then tried Aux, still nothing. Is there something else that needs to be turned on ?

Colt, don’t sweat it man, amps are directly related to volts. With watts staying constant volts increasing reduces amps and voltage decreasing increases amps. So with the vehicle running produces more voltage which lowers amps. Amps = watts/volts
