The CPT pretzel logo, man , I could take a bite out of that one.

Despite coming out after the series run, it was also used for some I Dream of Jeannie episodes.

This logo and the same Screen Gems music was also retained on seasons 2 and 3 of "The Young and the Restless".

This same logo was also reported to have appeared on late 1980's to early 1990's reruns of "Hart to Hart" (replacing the 1982-89 CPT logo).

@dubs19842009 Having been around in the 70s, I've never seen any Columbia logo on the original broadcasts of these shows (and even in syndication today) and I don't think you would have. That's because I just went on to Wikipedia and found out that Norman Lear's company wasn't sold to Columbia Pictures until 1985. The only production credits I saw in these shows were directly in the closing credits.

This logo was used for several of its shows including "Bewitched","Policewoman","Police Story",not to mention the shows "Born Free", "Bridget Loves Bernie","That's My Mama",and "The Partridge Family". All that would change in 1976.

Well they did bring back the original S From Hell on Bewitched and Jeannie reruns. First on TV Land, and currently on WGN America. Looks like they actually worked on the logo to restore it to its original color after years of deterioration.

@TheTmpratt Screen Gems has always been a part of Columbia Pictures from the start. In 1974 they decided to retire the Screen Gems name and renamed it Columbia Pictures Television.

This was also seen on The Rookies and its spin-off series S.W.A.T.

@dubs19842009: This logo was not used on the Lear shows in syndication: Viacom had the syndication rights then (70's to mid-80's.) Later, Sony Pictures Television came to own Lear's companies (Tandem, Embassy Pictures, and TAT Communications) and thus, the Sony Pictures Television (previously Columbia/Tri-Star Television) logo would be seen (sometime in the 2000's).

Cheesy factor: "Animation that looks as rough as its predecessor, the 'S from Hell.' The design also looks somewhat rushed, leading many to believe that this may be a placeholder logo."
@sed122813 жыл бұрын
@tnawcwvictoria You're right! I had forgotten about that. I just found out that there were two taping locations, Metromedia Square and, of course, CBS Television City.

@dubs19842009 In addition, All in the Family, Maude, and Good Times have the "CBS, Recorded at Television City, Hollywood, California" credit at the end since they were all recorded a the CBS Television City studios as well as broadcasted on CBS itself.

A bit of trivia concerning this first CPT logo from 1974: the arrangement of the words on it ("Columbia" and "Pictures" on each side, "Television" at the bottom, with a Columbia Pictures Industries byline below) seemed to, in a way, serve as a schematic for/preview of the Coke and CPE Torch Ladies of the 80s and early 90s, with the same words in the same places, and Coke/CPE bylines below, but on a representation of the Mona Lisa. Did you know that?

@tnawcwvictoria No offense intended, but I don't recall seeing that logo in the original Spelling Goldberg broadcasts on ABC unless if the end credits had "in association with" at the end (which I doubt), and then you would see it (providing it was prior to fall 1976). However, I think you would see the sunburst and the other updated Columbia/Sony logos when it was broadcast in syndication (would have been after '76)

Most of the big-name studios go back to that era. 20th Century-Fox, Universal, Paramount, MGM, Warner Brothers--they all date to the '20s, some even to the '10s.
