9:01 This Is Not Eric's Voice. The "Swallow This" voice clip comes from a scene from Evil Dead where Ash kills a Deadite with a sawed off double barrel shotgun. On a side note, Dylan used a sawed off shotgun too during the shooting. This could mean nothing in the grand scheme of things but maybe it was foreshadowing.

I remember watching a documentary a while back on how the architecture of schools has changed in recent years as a response to school shootings. It's common now to have features like bullet resistant doors, and alcoves in hallways where you can shelter yourself from bullets. In a very strange irony, real world school buildings are now incorporating design features that are typically seen in the virtual environments of deathmatch arenas.

Speaking of death matches, me and my friends, as kids, had a nerf fight near an elementary school. We were dumbass kids and didn’t realize the societal taboo of guns in schools. And our dumbasses thought the school was closed, because our middle schools let us off earlier. (This was 2019 by the way) then we were politely asked to get off the property, or we’d get arrested. But yeah, the punchline of my story is, schools INDEED make good TDM maps.

I was made fun of a lot in high school and had no friends. The day after Columbine happened, my assistant principal pulled me out of class and asked if I was feeling ok. I later found out he went around and did that to every student that was bullied on a regular basis. You can tell he was trying to prevent an incident like Columbine from happening. As much as I was harassed and bullied, I never dreamed of doing something this horrible. I knew that High School was a meaningless bump in the road of life. Totally forgot about all that til watching this video. Anyway, glad I watched this. Definitely an insightful dive into someone's deteriorating mental health. The terrifying thing about the WAD is that it's VERY accurate to the Columbine layout and the architecture/quirks of Jeffco high schools. It couldn't have been made by a random person on the internet, it was someone who had been inside the school long enough to get the details down (i.e: the weird curved glass wall next to the administrative offices, the raised squared windows set in stucco, etc.) it all feels way too familiar. I didn't go to columbine but I went to one of it's sister schools that was built at the same time (and reused a lot of the same architecture, including a clone of the main entrance section) and that WAD is terrifyingly uncanny.

So, about the "1:1 Columbine remake in Doom" I sure do have quite a story to tell. I wasn't alive when Columbine happened but when I was 16, I made a 1:1 recreation of my school in Minecraft with a good friend of mine. Shortly after a school shooting in my state in early 2023 that left 3 people dead, I was arrested and charged with terrorism because I had blueprints of my school but ultimately the charges were dropped because there was not enough evidence to prove that all the videos and blueprints on my phone were for committing a shooting but instead, it all aligned with my story. The case never went to trial but I was never able to go back to a school in the US again. My case was even in the news and it feels so bizarre reading them all and seeing how blown out of proportion everything was. I spent my 17th birthday in a Juvenile detention center over the ordeal. Believe me, the FBI is very serious about these kinds of things. Ultimately, I graduated in June 2024 from an online school and even earned a full 2-year scholarship in the process. I now work at a Dollar General in the town I was accused of terrorizing and I still have yet to have somebody walk up to me and accuse me of being a psychotic mass killer. Everybody knew it was bullshit and it's fascinating because I was quite popular at my school, on the football and Wrestling team and attending after school events with the "cool kids". It's just unbelievable to me that all actually happened and it disgusts me that our nation treats youth like this without first asking questions. Creating a familiar location in a video is a flex, not an act of violence. I've created my own house in Minecraft, does that mean I'm gonna kill my family? Never made sense to me of how hard I was robbed of having a normal childhood over the FBI's negligence.

this is actually an insane story, im so sorry you had to go through that! hope things have improved since then

I'm.frankly surprised someone hasn't done a legit vanilla compatible realdoom remake by now and edited the modified date on the file to try and pass it off as the original, I wouldn't think it would be too difficult especially considering that the idea that the map is "completely 1 to 1" with the school is almost 100% likely complete and utter BS since we're talking about mid 90s mapping standards, there's no way the real version is even that realistic and everyone saying it was is just being hyperbolic because almost no one who had actually seen the real version at the time had probably ever played a single game in their entire life 😂 So you could just completely half ass it and as long as it even looks remotely similar you could pass it off as the OG

I too have dicked around with this WAD, and I think that this is a patched version of REALDOOM, or a "fangame" of sorts. While, yes, a lot of the evidence points out that it could've been made by Eric, given the whole thing of it being made to represent the exact layout of the highschool, but there's some flaws within it that leaves me to believe otherwise. The footsteps come from Half Life, a game that came out months after the shooting. Several weapon sprites were ripped from Counter Strike, which had initially come out around 2000. And the main, key piece that leaves me to believe this is a fan project is the quality. Eric's quality when it came to doom has always been shitty, the most technical aspects being sound replacements. The idea that he could implement his own gore effects years before modding could even reach that point is giving him way too much credit. Another fantastic video as always, and I'm sorry for writing a whole ass essay lol.

This one’s not as brutal, nor severe, like Brutal Doom, Grezzo Due, Rootpain, etc. But what made it truly disturbing from the rest of the WADs was the fact it’s all based on the actual plan from the shooters in an actual location. Can’t imagine playing it myself and getting the feeling of what I’m doing is exactly what the shooters planned to do. Also, gotta say, humanity really does have its f*cked up side when the shooters gain vile imbeciles to praise their actions. Man, what a truly dark world we live in.

@@DeezNuts-cs7bn Hate to break it to you, but there is always darkness in this world. You can try and go full Maruki of Persona 5 Royal to pretend there is 100% good in this world, but sooner or later, that barrier will break down once reality comes striking down, and it comes in many forms than just this controversy. As for sadness, some will take it out on others due to their depression evolving into hatred or enragement in narcissistic form while others do the unthinkable and twisted to continue coping within their delusional minds to be happy again. Don’t get me wrong, but I enjoy my life with my family being around my parents and my siblings. However, I fear what’s going to happen to one of them. For example, every time I drop my sister off to school, I always think of making sure her school doesn’t becomes a hunting ground for the mentally insane nor she gets harassed and mocked by the f*cked up egos of others being better than her. And everyday when she comes home, I’m grateful and happy that nothing bad happens to her. Now, as for work, not only am I cautious with my own life, but also, with my coworkers around me whom I’ve been friends with and gotten to know well. And during my year working at a store in a mall, I’ve dealt with the incident of a fight breaking out in AMC till someone pops off a gun, then another incident where teen mobs of lowlife uneducated scums start attempting to loot and run before the cops came and swarm in. Even tho I’ve stayed chilled during those moments, I’ve made sure my coworkers feel alright as they did the same for me. So, from what I’ve learned, I can’t always ignore the dark side of this world. When something bad goes down, I can’t always treat it as imaginary and think it’s all a “myth”. Anyway, wherever happiness or sadness is, there’s always the dark and twisted side of this world, either visible or beneath us.

i don't think REALDOOM was actually columbine, out of 11 (told by eric) maps 7 have been recovered, 3 are confirmed lost, 1 is unconfirmed to ever exist, in my assumption the Columbine could only be the map eric never released to the public, and it would make sense to not release it since it would attract attention to a dual that already had attention beforehand. Realdoom in my opinion was just what eric himself said, a patch for doom, probably one with gory and better blood or maybe stock photos of real people instead of doom enemies. although the possibility that eric didn't even created a one-to-one recreation of Columbine is more possible to me
