A great episode with Andrew Stevens as the bad guy. He seduced everyone even his victim’s sister. A true psychopath who did whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted.

It's only "bad" comparatively. The show was so good overall that an "bad" episode stands out. This episode was still better than most TV shows at their best. I had never seen this episode but I instantly recognised the sister from appearing in a single episode of King Of Queens. Her on screen presence really does stand out. Some people just have "it.

I think there are 6 weak episodes in the final two seasons (20 eps in total) this being one of them. The story isn't too bad but the main actors in it are terrible and it is permanently stuck in "daytime soap" mode. Whilst the original run of series probably only had 2 weak episodes: "Last Salute to the Commodore" and "Dagger of the Mind" (my own personal least favourite). That being said a lot of the later episodes are still great and often unfairly criticized.

Seems like they tried to do too many clever twists to make it seem like someone else killed her. Columbo was never about the whodunnit but the how. The coverup concept is decent (shooting a dead body) but yes, it feels like watching a poorly done drama.

Your generous, but basically on the mark. This one is terrible--maybe the all around worst--though the Seiger one is my most loathed. The Last Commodore is definitely the worst of the early group. I'll differ over Dagger of the Mind. A lot hate it, but I'm quite fond of it. It's supposed to be a sendup of all things English and hammy actors, which Blackman and Basehart do really well, plus a very American Columbo standing in for Sherlock. It's done for laughs. One early one that's beloved that I don't like is the Janet Lee one. It's kind of boring, and I don't find her sympathetic. Crazy or not, she still intended to reboot her narcisstic career by killing her sugar daddy. (Watching Steven's and Vicarro here--It's acting not even up to daytime soap standards. Just BAD).

It is my least favourite Columbo. An awful script, and sub par dramatics. One of the worst oily looking snakes in Columbo villain cannon, and its gotcha is not spectacular. I love them all! But not this one. ✌️🎬
