The videos on this channel are one of the best CM stuff I've seen. If official Battlefront promo would look like this, the game would be much more popular.

Thanks, high praise indeed . Maybe one day BF will send me a contract!!!

Yeah, not much in the way of promotion and community management. Understandable as they have only a few employees. Perhaps they could employ volunteers for these duties, just as they do for some of the scenario creation?

Agreed

@Louis van der Merwe That's a joke?
@AITullball33335 жыл бұрын
@Louis van der Merwe Wow. I guess that explains why they're still using OpenGL. I heard that was very popular in the 1940s.

You have the best way of narrating these games. Subbed.

Thanks Josh. New one out in a week or so.

Thanks for another great presentation. Looks like you have been busy indeed lately. I have been away and am happy to see so much new material. Your efforts are much appreciated.

Thanks glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'd like to get out more content to be honest but RL takes priority.

Excellent analysis. I think that battle went about as well as it could have, with roughly equal forces smashing into each other in urban terrain.
@joseywales38487 жыл бұрын
Yeah, not sure how to get both objectives on this one. Maybe you could be a bit gamey and sneak a team around the perimeter but that's not my style.

Best instructional videos, I didn't know you could fire a bazooka from inside a house.
@joseywales38486 жыл бұрын
Many thanks. I wouldn't recommend firing a bazooka off inside a room in real life but the game allows it for playability reasons.

@@joseywales3848 In the real Battle of Hatten a short sighted American with an Italian heritage got a Medal of Honor. His platoon got wiped out and this pissed off person decided to make a stance against the Germans. He was relieved after some 48 hours. The Medal of Honor for keeping the American position. He also immobilised a Tiger and killed the commander who went out looking for him. valor.militarytimes.com/hero/3071

No matter how much negative feedback you may or may not get, don't stop doing these AAR's. You are good at it.

I found this scenario practically impossible. I'll have to try it again and move the machine gun squads up as soon as possible, but you did better at it than I ever did.

I hate building fights. They're so damned hard. Crossfire and short ranges mean one can lose a squad in seconds.

i have cm battle for normandy and i want to get another what do you suggest
@joseywales38487 жыл бұрын
I only have CMFI and CMFB. In CMFI you'll be fighting in the mountains and olive groves. In CMFB you'll be fighting in the mud and snow. I think the game that best contrasts CMBN is CMRT. Although I don't own it, CMRT tends to have big maps ideally suited for larger tank operations as opposed to the closed in bocage of Normandy.

All these tracers really make me wish battlefront could make a Combat mission star wars game.
@joseywales38485 жыл бұрын
It probably is not hard to do, but then I'm not a modder.
@jburroughs29225 жыл бұрын
@@joseywales3848 might be simple for infantry, some model changes and blaster effects for the guns. However vehicles would be a completely different story, id love to see how a modder would make an AtAt that could stomp through forests, or rebel T2 B tanks that could float above usually impassable terrain

10:37 A bazooka firing in an enclosed space? What?
@joseywales38487 жыл бұрын
Its an engine limitation. I imagine the designers decided to leave it in due to the fact that the engine doesn't allow individual troops to move out of an occupied building to fire off propellant weapons. The alternative would have been to not allow any troops in buildings to fire heavy weapons which would have also included non-propellant AT weapons such as rifle grenades and PIAT guns. Perhaps they can break it down better in future into the different classes but I can live with it as the game has an abstract approach when dealing with troops in buildings anyway.
@TheSonOfDumb7 жыл бұрын
Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation - although in v1.0 Battle for Normandy's manual I remember reading a paragraph that said that propellant weapons could not be fired in enclosed spaces.
@Ithikialau7 жыл бұрын
It was initially not allowed way back during the initial release of CMBN but was switched to the current system as part of upgrade 2.0 IIRC. Plenty of arguments back and forth back then. The old system made life a little bit too easy for tanks, especially in built up areas as they could drive straight through with little threat until they stopped (and assuming they stopped in grenade range of enemy infantry). The current system allows their use indoors but troops inside will suffer a suppression penalty and a chance to be wounded.
