It's unique. I'm too much of a wood-lover to want a finish that looks so inorganic, but it's an attention grabber and I could imagine an office this would be perfect for.

Honestly, I think it looks really cool. The metal grain is such a cool look. That said, it's a solution to make cheaper wood look really expensive. It shouldn't be used on high quality wood

Turned out incredible, the only thing I think I would’ve done different is used a coat of solid black resin on the live edge of the slabs so that you wouldn’t see the brighter browns of the wood showing through the transparent black resin center. Regardless I think it looks amazing, you guys should definitely play around with that some more.

That's a truly awesome piece! Your client will be stoked! The metal finish is mind blowing! One small thing though: perhaps if you stained the inner sides of the wood where the resin is before you poured the resin then the light wood wouldn't show through the resin when you look from an angle. I saw it peek through several times in the video & I know I'm nit picking here, but I also know how much attention you guys pay to the smallest details. The piece you made is so unique with its all black & silver colors & that little hint of light wood peeking through breaks that color scheme imo. Thanks to the whole team for continuing to put up such great pieces & KZbin content. Looking forward seeing what you guys cook up next!

I've used powdered bare metal in epoxy with an air brush machine for years. While having a premixed product would be a bit more convenient, it wouldn't be very cost effective if it's something you'd regularly be using. Super cool to see it used on such a large project and turn out so uniform. Stunning execution!
@robwright4392

Wow what an incredible piece. The contrast between the black and the metal almost looks like an ink fingerprint zoomed right in. I love the base. It's very contemporary. Another one you've knocked out of the park. Someone in the comments said you should have done the river resin black because you can see the much lighter sides of the timber. Can i modify that constructive criticism? Maybe it would have added another even more amazing detail if the metal treatment was done on the sides before the resin pour so that the absolutely amazing contrast of the top continued the full depth of the river. That could allow a pour with less colour needing to be added. If that's what the customer wants of course. But still, it's a desk i would die to own. Another job well done Black Forest Wood Co Team. Thank you for the content!

@@BlackForestWoodCo i guess though that since it's an expensive process to begin with that it's even more expensive to experiment with but the process of sending it out to get the sides done and sending it back once the resin has been poured may not be economically viable especially if the strength could be compromised. Regardless, you's have outdone yourselves again with this art piece. Thank you

Wood and metal together always work well to my eyes. The less than 90 degree corner had excess metal finish globbed around it which spoiled the look for me. A finicky process for sure. Not sold on it. I'd prefer a high voltage trough burned in then filled with a silver epoxy. 👍 😃

Metals are used for pigments in paints all the time, I would assume the metal ratio might be higher than normal. I wouldn't have said anything if they didn't keep going on about it. It was a great choice of colors the contrast was spectacular and love the glass like finish that complement the angels. The drawer front is awkward, I hope it pulls out further than the top but as shown the top would gets in the way.
