I totally appreciate a frugal booktuber. At this point I only auto buy things from authors I am obsessed with, other then that it’s cheap and or free kindle, or audio books. Thanks for another great vlog ❄️🩵✨

Reading the books before purchasing is a major goal of mine. I hate spending $15-$20 on a paperback and hating it. Im in the library every week. I will wait for a libby hold. Its too expensive!

I usually use Libby or KU. I also love a good trip to Half Priced Books!

Le Pen are the best! You may never go back. I swap between traditional metal nib and the flex tip ones. Metal nib maintains fine point longer but flex is so pleasant on paper. Enjoy!

I look forward to seeing the assembled book nook. Always wanted one, too. Except I would get an actual bookish vibe instead of the detective one, or the greenhouse one, or...🌲

I do a lot of second hand book shopping at local bookstores near me. It spares me a lot of the pricey paperback guilt when they only cost $3 - $12! That said, there really is nothing worse than buying a book you haven’t read only to hate it when you finally do read it and then having to unhaul it. So your way makes SO much more sense!

That edition of Binding 13 is 😍. I feel like I have a harder time buying books that I've read from the library even when I love them. I love your thought process on it and think it's a WAY healthier way of thinking. 🎄🎄

This year I had a little challenge for myself, that I could buy only 1 book per month (or like 12 books in the whole year) and I ALMOST made it - got 1 book more than that (and mostly because it was a sequel of a book I wanted and I was scared it might not be available locally later). The challenge itself was mostly because of how many books I'd gotten in the past two years that 1 - was expensive and 2 - I couldn't read fast enough (I'm a physical book reader, so e-formats don't really work for me), and 3 - I was running out of book shelf space for then. Either way - I don't think it's weird to be frugal on the books you buy, especially since you're an e-format reader and don't necessarily need the books (aside from 'trophy-ing'). 🎄

You aren't being "cheap" you are being frugal with your money. 🙂 I think a lot of people would benefit from stopping and asking themselves if they really "need" to spend X amount on something. 🎄13

I have Kindle unlimited so use that alot but I mostly get books from discounted bookstores or charity shops then it's not to bad if I don't like them. But if I love a book I will get the physical copy or collector edition.

I absolutely love your approach to buying books and it’s what I have started to do now ! I really started to reevaluate how I spent my book money and honestly I was tired of buying books that I could just get from the library because I didn’t really care for them. Anytime I start a new series, I get the first book through the library and if after reading it I know I want to continue THEN I will start buying them!

I used to buy a lot of books before I read them and I ended up not like half and getting stressed at the growing physical tbr. So now I try and read as much as I can from the library and buy the physical copy if I really like it. I got binding 13 after I read it audio too! And I'm going to decorate the spine and cover

🎄 I wish I could just go in a bookshop and buy a stack of books 😄 But most of the time I don’t even feel like that anymore. These days I mostly read on my kindle (0.99 sales, ku etc). I rarely buy a physical copy of a book unless it’s a special edition of a favourite or a nonfiction I want to annotate and have in my collection. And I rarely pay full price, I usually wait for deals or get the books from the supermarket or The Works (a shop here in the UK that has heavily discounted books) or from a second hand book shop. In comparison to past years I’m extremely conservative in my spending and book buying. And although I like watching book hauls on KZbin, at the same time it gives me anxiety thinking about buying 30 books or more in one day or month 📚

I buy most of my books used for a couple bucks and if I really like them I might get a new copy if the used one is worse for wear. I never read synopses so buying unread books new is a major gamble.

100% on the same page as far as buying books.. I will always do Libby or Spotify audio before deciding to buy a book and I only buy if I know I want to read again someday.

I only buy physical books of favorite authors now or books I know I want to read again. I very rarely buy hardcovers anymore. Obviously, I pre-ordered Onyx Storm though. 🤣 Books are so expensive now, and I just don't have the space for so many books anymore. I totally understand not wanting to buy a book unless you know you're going to like it!

I’m completely on the same page with you on books! Why purchase something if you don’t know for sure if you are going to enjoy it? Especially since books are one of the few hobbies that allow us to have access to enjoy them for free before investing in an actual copy. Not all hobbies have a cost-efficient alternative. Exercise usually has free alternatives, but hobbies like cooking and playing video games always means I’m going to have to spend some money! I’ve become more of a reader these days in my spare time just because it’s more cost-efficient and I’m trying to save towards long-term goals currently! It also takes the materialism and instant gratification out of reading! Which I feel is a struggle for a lot of people these days with social media being a marketing tool to purchase things!

Yes I’m the same! I love using the Libby app and just reading them on my kindle first- it saves so much money 🤷🏻♀️ If it ends up being a 4+⭐️ or I know I love a specific series/author already then I’ll probably buy the physical for my library 😂🖤 I just can’t justify even $10+ per physical book if I haven’t read it yet anymore especially with the library apps and KU being available!

I think there are a ton of people who use the library and never buy the book. I personally only use the library for new releases that are not in series or I know I won't read again. I thrift or buy most of my books second hand for a fraction of the cost of barnes. Barnes is the most expensive place to buy books and I would not have nearly as many in my collection if I only shopped there.

I‘m same. I only buy physical copies of books that are special to me. And I generally don’t buy the physical copies of books that are on kindle unlimited. Also I rarely buy special editions because they are to expensive in my opinion. Hardcovers are already expensive enough but the prices for special editions just get out of hand lately. It’s just not worth it.

I rarely buy books full price. Unless I am trying to support my local bookstore or am PRETTY certain that im going to like it, Its rare that I do it. I thrift all of my books, and if i love a book that I read on kindle or audio, I will buy it. But even then I will usually buy it used on amazon. Cheapskate youtuber through and through... no shame.
