Thank you for all your insight in the scriptures we cover with you Jared. We learn so much, despite all our years in the Church, and our own scripture study. Your insights bless our lives beyond anything we have done ourselves. Please continue to do what you are doing as it truly blesses us as I am sure it blesses you as well. Get a volunteer “IT” person to help so you don’t have “do-overs” to eat up your time! Thank you for all you bring to us!

With all the recording, editing, re-taping and time from your family,Dear Brother Halverson, you are as Christ’s disciple of old: teaching us to center our lives continually on HIS teachings that we may be worthy of HIS presence and that of our Heavenly Father throughout eternity. Could you ever really know how much THEY both love you. Such a gift you have been given to teach in the Savior’s way. ❤

Hi Jared! Just to let you know, I am in a private group of 6 - 12 saints who do Come Follow Me lessons weekly via "Zoom" connections across State & National lines, for several years now & ongoing, each of us taking time to study & lead a lesson. YOU are a resource beloved by many of us (when we have time). I am somewhat of a Scriptorian, living in Tucson AZ, others as far as on Vancouver Island & in between. Regardless of plenty of ad-libbing, typical unique lengthiness, I love your faith & enthusiasm for Father & His works & words & Son! I also LOL!! often at your HUMOR! [Jesus, its been a while, you look like you've lost weight?! / Lol!! ] The Lord continue to Bless you & your family! Doug.

Brother Jared, I had to smile when you said there are no emojis in the text, as there is at least one, and my favourite, right in John 2, Verse 9. After stating that the ruler of the feast did not know the origin of the wine that so impressed him, there is a beautiful little 'nudge nudge, wink wink moment when the phrase, (but the servants which drew the water knew ;) - so perfect! So glad the King James translators used that particular punctuation. Little did they know that hundreds of years later, how beautifully it would enhance an almost unnoticed little phrase for those of us living in the world of the computer.

I have never seen the great value of JST until I ve listened to your lectures the past 3 years. I have just been shocked to see how much more sense the scriptures make with these small corrections. It's really helped my testimony of Joseph Smith!!! I m showing my friend, who has left the Church, some of these JST translations because they would give even a skeptic pause to reflect. Tk u for being inspired to realize how enlightening and clear the JST is.

I listen in the early morning hours in my room when it's quiet in my home and I can feel the Spirit teach me alongside you and take notes of what I'm learning because I had a stroke over 2 years ago. And one of the benefits of that is I have a LOT of time to do things that matter to me. When I took Institute in college I felt like I learned many things I had never heard before and left with clarity of the gospel that has been foundational to my testimony. And now I get an even deeper understanding that has anchored me to Jesus Christ and given me confidence that I can endure these last days through Him. Your sacrifices and frustrations to put together these videos every week are deeply appreciated and I do my best to share what I learn with others who are in various stages of building their own testimonies. I believe your consecrated efforts are far reaching, more than you might recognize.

Because I work with my hands I am often surrounded by symbolism. I loved how you said that as wine can take the edge off of a rough day so can Christ. I love that He is my glass in the morning and at night. In fact by evening I am drunk with Him😊One thing I do with my hands is grow grapes and every year I put up 100 quarts of grape juice( now mind you I only live in a small subdivision home in Utah) and I love how this time consuming activity connects me to my Savior. I also sculpt and every time I start to rough in a shape and move it from phase one to phase four I see how the Savior, as I submit, molds me and shapes me to perfection. When I crochet I am reminded how line upon line or in this case chain upon chain, while fallowing complex instructions, leaves you with a beautiful doily. When I fold origami it all comes in again. If you don’t fallow the instructions and fold with precision then your piece will not come together; Especially when you’re trying to make a box. As the scriptures say, “All things bare record of Him.” Symbolism is so rich and thank you for pointing it out so beautifully. Sometimes I wonder if we take some of the signs of the times so literally that we miss the spiritual symbolism in them.

You have helped me connect dots; contemplate deeper doctrine! You teach by the spirit so strongly; it has helped me not only to “Saber” but to “Conocer” and help me to make the longest journey we humans must make; that is the 18” from our heads to our hearts. I'm not sure if this is the quote you were referring to at 45:18, but it's one of my favorites "The most phenomenal occurrences of all time and eternity-the most amazing wonders, the most astounding, awesome developments-are the most common and widely recognized. They include: I am; you are; we are; and all that we perceive exists as well, from subatomic particles to the farthest reaches of the cosmos and everything in between, including all of the wonders of life. Is there anything greater than those ordinary realities? No. Nothing else even comes close. You can’t begin to imagine, much less describe, anything greater than what already is. In light of what is, nothing else should surprise us. It should be easy to believe that with God all things are possible. The healing of the withered hand is not nearly as amazing as the existence of the hand in the first place. If it exists, it follows that it can certainly be fixed when it is broken. The greater event is not in its healing but in its creation." (BYU Devotional "Stand Forever, Lawrence E. Corbridge")

You just flooded me with a joyous, delightful memory! When I was completing my undergraduate degree at James Madison University, I nourished my soul through taking private voice lessons. My last semester, I was invited to a Master Class, where faculty members would be performing. At the Class, I learned that they each had been expected, in addition to a classical number, to prepare an "art" song as well. (Typically a short, often humorous number, fully illustrative of the corresponding vocal capabilities and suitable for use as a second encore.) Your phrasing bidding us "to see wine as a symbol of joy in the Old/New Testament" transported me to the moment when I watched a robed faculty member add an abbot's rope and gloriously extol the divine attributes of Beer! Wish I remembered the song - it was a hoot!!

Hunter ...For example, the first miracle by Jesus recorded in the New Testament was the turning of water into wine at the marriage at Cana. (See John 2:1-11.) But poor, indeed, was the making of the wine in the pots of stone, compared with its original making in the beauty of the vine and the abundance of the swelling grapes. No one could explain the onetime miracle at the wedding feast, but then neither could they explain the everyday miracle of the splendor of the vineyard itself.

Thanks for your dedication! As a fellow podcaster (not as famous though! 😂) it has happened to me several times to find out too late that the sound was coming from the wrong microphone or was too loud and so on. We truly appreciate that you took the time to record again and didn’t give up, so we can feast on the scriptures!

I was once told that there are 3° of obedience. We will obey, first because we fear what happens if we don’t. The second is we obey because we want the reward for obedience. The third is we obey because we love the law giver.

Love another of your episodes! The turning of water into wine is my favorite miracle. It show cases the power of God in an undeniable way. I see this miracle in the sacrament. We use water instead of wine. There is a lesson there. The prayer itself is written to use the word wine and the person saying the prayer knows to change that to water. Seems to me that the church has had more than sufficient time to correct the written wording but hasn't. To me it means there will come a day (probably after the savior returns) where one of two things will happen. That is we will return to using wine as we did in the beginning or water will be used but it will change to wine by the time it reaches the congregation. That is this miracle for all to see. The bishop or the person presiding will act as the governor and will be our tester. I hope our priests are up to it...

Regarding to the statement about the wedding being on the third day (John 2:1), Robert L. Millet has said that brides were married on a Wednesday if they were a virgin. I think most countries start the week with a Monday (not Sunday), which would make the third day a Wednesday. That is why this detail has significance. And, thank you for all you do.

If one makes even a cursory investigation into the underlying Greek word translated as "wanted" in John 2:3, there is no ambiguity of meaning. It means "lacked", not "desired".

Well now I feel bad for "making" you do these videos. 😭 But I really do appreciate them. Thank you for your sacrifices. Also - I like it when you recap the last week's lessons a bit and even add something new - it helps put the stories together instead of having disjointed fragments.

Brother Halverson, as I listened, my soul was stirred. John's mission, as shown by his swollowing the book (D&C 77:14), is to gather Israel. Also, in 1 Nephi chapter 14 Nephi is shown the Apostle John, and he states that John is to write about things that will occur at the end of the world. I believe that the Gospel he wrote was directed at Israel for her homecoming. It was crafted as a testimony of Jesus Christ and his earthly ministry. And from the beginning to it's end points at their deliverance from bondage in the latter days. You spoke of what Jesus said to Nicodemos of the spirit listing, and about the hearts listening. May I share what has been burning in my bosom for over a decade? It occurs to me that chapter two of the Gospel of John points at the time period of the church through Joseph's lifetime. Six stone jars represent six thousand years of the word of God. The water within represented the word of God before Joseph Smith's birth. The first miracle of the restoration was the scriptures. Joseph by the power of God filled the jars, turning it into living water. The marraige represents the covenant between Christ and His bride, or Israel. The cleansing of the temple is what occurred after Joseph's martyrdom. The sign Jesus pointed to of the destruction of the Temple was the Nauvoo temple. One hundred and fifty six years occurred between the first and second dedication of the Nauvoo temple. Divide that by three and you get 52, the number of weeks in a year. It is time for all of Israel to come home to her husband, Jesus Christ. What I have shared is what I believe. If it is true I pray that other witness will eventually come forth. Until then it is only one voice, and perhaps folly, but I felt that I should share.

I wrote a poem that summerizes what I got from John chapters three through six To Come and To Believe Just six short tales were all John wrote Passover one through three But in these six John summed the words Which Jesus meant for me “Come unto me” said Jesus Christ And you will hunger not When you believe you’ll never thirst Said Jesus as He taught Nicodemus to Jesus came And as Christ taught, was fed She believed the words Jesus spoke And to His well was led The nobleman who came to Christ Received the words he sought The man believed what Jesus said Took up his bed and walked Five legion came to hear Christ speak And with the bread were filled When twelve scared men believed the Christ The troubled sea was stilled Read them yourself and you will see That John had more to say I came to Christ and I was fed Believed, and shown the way

All six stories occur to me as different ways Israel comes to Jesus. They come as leaders of religion with questions, and are taught. They come as humbled wealthy with dire needs, and are quietly and miraculously blessed. They come as seeking masses, and are filled. He comes to the believing bound, and liberates them. He comes to the humble disabled and miraculously restores them. He comes to the faithful in troubled times, and calms the elements seeking their destruction.
