Not everyone could do what you do to clarify the scriptures in bring the spirit with understanding. Thanks for your dedication and understanding, by the spirit we all get to learn.

@@letGodprevail it takes time for all of us to gain more faith and understanding before we can believe, we can believe but we still must know the truth. It all starts with the thought and then desire. The Lord can work with you then. This is a good starting point for all of us. Then belief comes alive in our world. Believing is not good enough. Once you know the truth you can never deny it ever again. You cannot teach anyone if you only believe. You can teach when you know the truth.

@@letGodprevail technology certainly has sped up the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world also. I have a few friends and known others some years back that was eager to share their NDE . The scriptures really stand out more after listening to their stories or testimonies of this experience. The Lord knows what He's doing with all this technology. You are right, but what will it be like in the next 10 years. More people with more information about the next life with more NDES. The time is short, people need to get their act together and learn how they can learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and let the Lord prevail, that is important! Of course you will always have Antichrist people trying to destroying and mislead people with counterfeit explanations. This is the only Channel I watch about the NDES. You must be somewhat educated in the scriptures and depend on the Holy Spirit of Truth. Sure everyone will try to explain it the best they can. I know and many cases it is hard to explain. We all have to remember some of these people don't have any idea about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So you will have to have the Holy Spirit to weed through there testimonies. I'm sure you see much of this the same way as I, but there's others that don't have a clue what I'm talking about. You have a familiar phrase above🙏👍

When John wrote this, it occurs to me that John saw in revelation those who this message was intended.

Listening to this on my way to work...in Tennessee, my heart and mind are racing. Anything I have to offer is but a small moment, and yet, I have been living and breathing the Gospel of John for several decades. Joseph Smith asked "What are we to understand about the little book John is asked to eat?" The answer "It is his mission, to gather the House of Israel" (paraphrased). The lens I have been looking through is that John's Gospel is written to the returning House of Israel as a witness of the reality of the restoration. The five witnesses in the first chapter point to the five witneses of the Restoration, the two brothers (Joseph and Hyrum), and the three others.

1:33:36 I love how grace is described here. The next time I hear someone talk about how the Mormons work for their heaven, I will smile and think about all the hard work it takes to lift up your hands and receive a gift from a loving brother. Living the gospel may seem like hard work to others, or even to yourself when you’re off to minister or to serve in a calling, but just keep this in mind. ALL THE REAL WORK HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE and the gift is ready for you, you just need to RECEIVE it. Receive is a verb, non a status.

(I am glad you have a cd. All of his songs address so many social issues, but they could be very controversial too.) Now that you have given a different prospective of that song, I can use it in one of my talks LOL. Thanks for spending so much time in one single verse. I love every second of it.

The gospel gives us all expansions. I am great full for Jesus Christ. I work in making his tree of life pretty. I attended the temple 2 to 3 times a week. I spent all day there. With this activity I grow spiritually and on the journey I eat less. Therefore it has become a win win activity. As we go forward I hope our efforts will be received by the Lord. Thank you SO much for your insight on the Joseph Smith Translation. That was something that was on my heart, especially for John 1. I wasn't sure how to think about the JST. On the surface, it seemed like the JST would be considered the "right" version and the KJV (where changed) is "wrong", but that wasn't sitting well with me (unless it is an actual correction, as you mentioned). I love thinking of them as two ways to look at scripture, just as how we use other translations to help us understand scripture as well. You put my mind at ease! And the first verse of John 1 is so beautiful and poetic, so I'm very glad to realize that I don't have to mentally "throw it out" just because there's a JST. Just gives additional insight to a wonderful existing verse.

Wonderful lesson Jared. Yes. The gospel of John leaves no room for doubt about who Christ is: the Word of God who was with God, as God in the beginning of this, God plan. Matthew points to Him as Messiah where as John completed the profile of Him and presents Him as Abinadi does and as Paul does in Philippians 2. Next time you see the new logo the Church introduced of Christ standing in an arch; that is a visual representation of John 1:1, In the beginning: the Greek word translated beginning, Arxe, means so much more than just beginning. The Spanish "principio" is closer in describing are as the think around which other things rotate, the prime thing beings others. The logo is to remind us to make Christ and His work the center. This life, this manifestation of God's plan is for us, but it about Him and his Atonement. He makes the plan work.

First of all, for some reason this chapter has been so hard for me to get through and has felt so deep that I actually had to slow down your voice to .75 so I could concentrate! and the other thing I wanted to say is that my dad used to always say the proper way to bestow or confirm the gift of the Holy Ghost on someone is to say receive YE the Holy Ghost!! That’s what he was trying to get priesthood holders understand is that we need to receive the Holy Ghost when the gift is given to us! Receive you the Holy Ghost! i’m so glad you brought that out, and I absolutely love your videos and your teaching!❤❤❤❤😅

Brother Jared! I've been with you since partway through the BOM, and I've shared your podcast with anyone I thought would listen. Thank you for everything you do. Question, can you (or anyone reading) list a few more contraries; that concept has been very impactful in my study. The ones I remember you teaching are; infinite vs intimate, faith vs works, divinity vs humanity, justice vs mercy....that's all I can recall. Also can you reference the exact quote from Joseph Smith about this principle? Thank you.

Interesting, as you were teaching us about the word and how the word was God - my mind remembered - we have always existed, we started as intelligence and then became spirits (spirit children of Heavenly Parents). As intelligences - I think of being able to have thoughts, idea's and so on, perhaps not a voice, but perhaps the ability to move. The ability to recognize true and error and act in a righteous way. To make that choice. We learn in scripture that the elements obey God, so the wind and the waves obeyed The Savior and became calm. My Father would sometimes say things that would click and you knew it was true - he tried to speak with The Spirit, to open his mouth and it would be filled. It happened, I believe, because he had a desire to say what The Lord wanted him to say in that moment and he had been living the best he could so that The Spirit would be with him. I'm sure this happens in family's in The Church. My Grandparents on my Father's side were converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (from Switzerland). The school his Mother had attended in Switzerland used The Bible as their textbook, I understand many schools used to do that. I'm grateful she had that experience 🙏.

Dear Brother Halverson. You can not know how much this wonderful effort of yours is appreciated. Maybe you do. I am just amazed at how a man as busy as you must be can find the time to teach us mere mortals (just kidding) in the DEPTH that you do. However, I have a problem, self-inflicted for sure. I try to just listen, but find myself wanting to write down so much of what you teach that it takes me forever to get through even the introduction. But there is one thing that I struggle to comprehend, Contraries! I want so much to get a complete grasp of this principle, but for some reason, it is a struggle. I know that there is simplicity in this principle, but my goofy mind keeps wanting to understand the depths of it. I don't know if you can even find the time to read this but if you do, I hope, please somehow let me know where Joseph Smith talked about contraries. Thank you for making our lives fuller and better.

Question for Brother H or whoever elseay have an insight. Two points are raised in this episode that I've struggled to reconcile. 1) Christ is the creator of the earth, and all things in it testify of Him. 2)"The world" is dark. (The light came into the world and the world comprehended it not.) We know that everything in nature can teach is about Christ, but we also know that our world is fallen, so how do we diascern the fallen parts of our world and the godly parts of our world. Isaiah's prophesy and f the lamb and the lion laying down together seems to describe very different "nature". Perhaps this is more figurative than literal? We also know that the "natural" (hu)man is an enemy to God. Sorting out the darkness and divinity doesn't seem to be an obvious task to me.

Since you are a teacher I know you won’t mind being heckled a little - I just want to say that verbs themselves are not actions and they cannot do actions. They only describe the actions of the subject within the sentence. If Jesus is the verb then we, His disciples, are the subjects (hopefully) doing the action. To me the example you used with the Spanish “verbo” sounds like a more personal and complete way of saying He is the way - not just the camino, the path, but literally the action that describes how I live.

What I’m trying to say is 56 minutes into your lesson. You’re only on chapter 1 verses, four and five that’s a little slow.

That’s exactly why his repeat listeners love his videos… We want him to take his time to teach! I think I speak for a lot of his subscribers when I say that we’ll be here for every minute of Brother Halverson’s teachings to soak up every thing we can!

You have a lot of great knowledge and I love listening, but sometimes you need to slow it down and just cause verse five first and not so many life experiences c.

No I disagree. Please keep the life experiences. We can relate to them and that's the whole purpose of studying the scriptures
