So I planned on watching about an hour or two today but it was like sitting by the campfire having Grandpa tell you a story and I couldn't stop! I've needed this my whole life. I absolutely love the Old testament and to go through with you, brother Halverson brings it to life and I am filled with joy!

Thank you Jared for your insight. I have gained so much in my testimony through my studies with you. I really have never been able to get into the Old Testament until now. Now I have such a great love of the Old Testament and I am only this far into it. My study of the scriptures is truly changing my life. I have come to find the mercy of the Lord. So many great examples of loving the Lord and wanting to be like them and him.

Bro Halverson, there is so much wealth in the church today. How many people have second and third homes, they seem stiffnecked even proud. Isn't this also a sign of the end times?

Thank you for the beautiful explanation of God’s parental heart in Judges 10:16 and for the insight it gave about how God balances justice & mercy in His Divine Parenting: “It pains God not to be able to bail us out of every problem. But He is trying to balance short term and long term. He is trying to balance justice and mercy. He’s trying to help us really change. So in His perfect judgment, knowing just how long to wait before He comes to our aid and just how much He can help, He’s hoping we will learn from our experience.” This explanation was an answer to prayer. 🙏🏻 Thank you…again.

Dear Brother Halverson. We enjoy your lessons while we are serving as missionaries in Africa West. We love that you served in Puerto RIco. Five years ago we served in The Caribbean Area, and our supervisor was Hugo Martinez, from PR. He is now the area president here. Also, five months ago, our good friends were called to be the office couple in San Juan. NOW, our grandson just opened his mission call to ...... PUERTO RICO. He'll start in September. What a great land that is... Thanks for everything you do.

"When God wants to change the world what does He do? He calls a mother and gives her a baby to raise..." my newest son is 4 months old and I have felt such a tremendous responsibility as his mother because I know his purpose is to be a warrior for God and good and to fight evil. He is a fighter. a warrior. I feel so incredibly humbled to be called to be his mom. This sentence from this lesson hit me so hard and made me think of my youngest son. God has blessed me and mothers everywhere with a tremendous responsibility and calling. I am so blessed to be a mother!!!

Thank you for mentioning your wife and your son at the addiction services. I’ve been on that road. I was inpatient many times. “ Giving of an awareness is a great concept. It’s like keeping a journal. I can put my faulty line of reasoning each day. Finding the negative reasoning of using substances. Connecting The reason why I take the drug in the first place. I admire Your wife’s dedication to her job. The reason why I was in and out , in and out of the hospital. The hospital hadn’t a good staff but A diamond in the rough a great drug counselor was there to help us remember great ways of coping with drugs. It helped me tremendously a lot of my sobriety. So Sister Halverson thank you very much for your work! thank you Brother Halverson using her methods in your episodes. I get two for one because I can learn how to cope with my addictions and learning scripture at same time.

Thank you for taking the time to record your lessons. I learn so much!! Because of all I learn, I gained an insight as I studied Gideon that I would never had had without spending so much time with you. As I was studying the tools with which Gideon armed his 300 men - a horn and a clay pitcher with a torch inside - I realized that we are living weapons in the Lord's hands. We are vessels of clay with the light of our testimonies of Christ inside of us, and our voices are the horns that call. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ, we form a circle of light around the world.

Thank you for always honoring Women in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as we study the Scriptures. I am grateful for all the Wonderful Women who have helped me in my life. Especially my Own Mother. 😊❤👩 (And for those who struggle with feeling close to your Earthly mother, perhaps we can look forward to being with our Heavenly Mother in the World to Come! ) 👑👩❤🕊🌤 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Recently I've been feeling like Gideon with my knew calling and attending Church. In the past I looked forward to attending, but for personal reasons, I have found myself becoming overwhelmed and anxious. Especially with my new calling and with my perceived insecurities. Hopefully like Gideon, I can overcome these obstacles and move forward with Faith in the Lord.

You are such a good storyteller, and you make all of these episodes in The Book of Judges come to life. Gideon has been one of my heroes since I was a child (as have Deborah and Jael) and I love him to bits! Thank you for raising him still higher in my estimation now I have listened to your enthusiastic description of Gideon’s conversations with God. You make scripture study such fun. Please keep up the good work. Love Alistair’s wife, Janet🎈

I have felt very much like Gideon at times where I have felt the Lord confirming truth and promises to me, but then my doubt comes back and I need more reassurance and God is merciful and continues to provide that reassurance. I have yet to see those promises fulfilled, but my doubts have started to fade and my confidence in the Lord and His promises have grown stronger as I have seen His mercy and as I read of Gideon and His deliverance.

Your take on Judges chapter 5, and the highways becoming empty, makes me think of what may happen as our country runs out of fuel, and other needed supplies as those planning the New World Order move for the take over of our society. Our forgetfulness of God may be bringing about our own bondage. We need more Deborah’s to awake us from our wokeness, and turn us to the FATHER before it becomes to late. Pride cycle = danger unless we remember.

What was interesting during Deborah's time, the Tribe of Dan started to fulfill their patriarchal blessing. Deborah mentions, "Why are the tribe of Dan in boats?" Some of the tribe of Dan left for regions unheard (Greece and Europe). While part of the tribe of Ephraim started to chase them. That part of Ephraim landed in Greece and founded Corinth. Eventually, Corinth went on and founded many Greek cities in Southern Europe, fulfilling a part of Joseph's patriarchal blessing. Although we won't see Joseph's patriarchal blessing become fulfilled until 600 B.C. when the Lehites left for America, and in 1600 AD when the Pilgrims left England and Europe to found New England in America.

I remember when I tried reading The Old Testament, I had a hard time getting through some of the Old Testament. However when I started reading about the story of Ehud and the Children of Israel, things seemed to get exciting again! I suppose if it was in a play you could have the King and Ehud enter the "room" (have a sheet in front of it with lights showing on it) and then seeing their silhouettes Ehud stabs the King and flees the other way! Or it's from a balcony door, you only hear them talking, see the back of Ehud drawing his sword, move out of where people can see him, and then finally see him walk out to the balcony and climb down. (Complete with dramatic music when the King is stabbed! 🤺🎶 😉)

I really appreciate your thoroughness. It is helpful and inspiring. The length also keeps it on my mind all week as i cant listen in one sitting- bless you for doing it in one sitting! I have always loved deborah. I wish we had more. I dont like comparing her partnership with barak as a marriage. They were not equally yoked. I dont like the fearful and warbling faithful man buoyed up by a faithful woman as a marriage Maybe we sont know what he brought to that partnership I prefer to see her as a great leader. A prophetess Which leads us to a whole line of prophets and prophetesses who are more related to the spirit of prophecy than prophet as a calling. Though t provoking

As always, I very much enjoy all that you post and that you take the time to walk through ALL of the scriptures and not just the "assigned and repeated" portions. I did want to ask you though... Is this the first time you'd come to realize that God does the same thing with YOU that he did with THEM in the book of the Judges? I hope not, but if it is I hope you never forget that. Not sure if you have seen the movie "The Shack" but there is SO much great gospel in that movie that I had learned about a year before I watched it. And I think the scriptures aren't so much about truth as they are about principles. As you pointed out, there sure is an awful lot of context missing from the Biblical record. Have you ever noted that Joseph Smith, even AFTER translating the Bible, never corrected or amended his statement on the BoM being "The Most Correct Book"? I think thats a very telling thing. I have come to LOVE the scriptures more because of their flawed characters and incomplete stories. It requires me to pay more attention to the details and it helps me see that I am not too imperfect to be loved by God. As an example...have you noted that Exodus Chapter 6 doesn't belong in the book of Exodus? The genealogy given is dated far AFTER Moses and Aaron as they are 3rd person references only in that chapter. LOL.

What I don't understand is why there was not another prophet when Joshua died... it almost seems like they were bound to fail without that kind of central leadership that had finally, over the course of two generations, gotten them out of Egyptian bondage and into the Promised Land. It was like they were finally starting to get it and then they were left to their own devices.

The Scripture in the bible reads under tribute, not to tribute, which does not seem to make sense. Judges 1:28 When the Israelites grew stronger; they put the Canaanites UNDER TRIBUTE, but did not completely drive them out of the land. It does not read to put the Canaanites TO TRIBUTE, the meaning has changed. They put the Canaanites into slavery, they were under a tribute to the Israelites. The Word of God takes authority, God is the author of the bible, not man. Christians believe the Word of God to be the foundational truth, of their faith which is found in the bible.
