I love your take aways. I will be thinking about this. Slow down. Enjoy. Be pleasant. 😊 Our conference is in June. It is more like what you described from the old days.

This is my first time going to a homeschool convention. Thank you for the tips ❤

I'm so excited to hear that it will be in Columbus next year! I've never been to a convention, but it sounds very encouraging. I could use some encouragement in my homeschool!😃

You have so much to offer. You could totally speak at a homeschool conference. We do literature logs in our home because of you sharing about it.

I'm so excited to find out your new curriculum picks. You are someone I definitely feel I match up with your approaches, and I value your insight, so I'm looking forward to finding out what you've picked.

I actually didn’t go to convention this year because it seems like the same speakers that I’ve already heard from the last few years. I’m ready to hear from homeschool parents who have new tips, tricks, and encouragement for us. Thanks for taking us along on your weekend.

Every year, we go to the GHC here in Texas, at the Kalahari in Austin. My Mom goes with me. She wrangles the kiddos and I just disappear to the Conference. I definitely relate to what you were saying about the speakers at GHC. Last year, I challenged myself to attend sessions by speakers I had never heard and more "niche" topics. I have no idea if I'll ever teach a Homeopathy unit in my homeschool but the speaker was wonderful, I learned something new about a topic I had some interest in and got introduced to what it could be like to teach it in my homeschool. Then, like you, I spent a good chunk of my time getting to see, touch, and smell curriculum😆. Our conference is in a couple months and I can't wait to go!

I wish we had these in Western Washington again. Pre covid they did every summer. It baffles me they don’t pick back up now that more and more people are homeschooling

I went to GHC in SC. Steve Demme did a worship service before the day started. It was beautiful.

I want to hear Mr Demme speak one day! We switched to Math U See this year and it has been the best decision ever!

I got to see his demonstration at his booth. My mind is blown with how easy math can be.

@@Alexandra-xv5gm It is mind blowing. Every single day, I am telling my kids "this is AMAZING" and they look at me like I'm crazy, but they see it, too. Mr Demme simplifies math in miraculous ways!
@Alexandra-xv5gm8 ай бұрын
@@faithfullyinfertile I am 31, I wish I had Math U See in the public school I went to. I would have understood and enjoyed math. I can't wait to start the program in August. That demonstration solidified that MUS Primer is what I wanted to use for my kinder child.
@faithfullyinfertile8 ай бұрын
@@Alexandra-xv5gm oh you are so BLESSED to be starting Primer from the beginning. I have four kids & my youngest two are doing Primer now. I started at Alpha with my older two in Nov and we are about done with Gamma now & will start Delta and hopefully finish that this summer, so they can both start Epsilon in the Fall. I don't have many regrets in my homeschooling journey but I do have one: I wish that I would have started Math U See from the beginning with my older two!
@faithfullyinfertile8 ай бұрын
@@Alexandra-xv5gm And I totally agree with you! I am in my 40s have always HATED math. I literally would have hives in highschool/college doing my math work. My dad is a math whiz and loves math & tutored me all through my math classes. I made As every single class BUT did I UNDERSTAND math? Absolutely not. Not until Mr Demme explained things and I could SEE math. I LOVE MATH NOW. I never thought I would say it. hahahaha! I have spent hundreds of dollars through my 11 yrs of homeschooling on math manipulatives but NOTHING compares to the Math U See blocks. They are genius and all you need to teach math. I am doing a HUGE purge of my homeschool stuff this summer & I can't wait because I hate clutter and all those things are just clutter. All I need is that one box of blocks. AMAZING!

We were both at Sarah's talk! I saw the back of my head in the video. I got to see Mr. Demme's demonstration at his booth and it blew my mind with how easy math can be. I love the convention. It was my second year going. I already have my hotel booked for next years 😅 Don't forget about next years venue change up to Columbus.

This was super fun. Thanks for taking us along! And the Golden Age of homeschool conferences is still alive. Our conference in Denver, CO has a lot of different speakers who are just there to teach and encourage. Maybe you can find a different conference? ❤❤
