Here is an example to the absurdity of the Status Quo. The US war on Afghanistan cost the US $ 300 million a day for 20 years. At the end of which the US army with all that capital couldn’t defeat a bunch of fundamentalist fighting from caves. Now imagine if the US pumped $ 300 million a day for 20 years in to the Afghan economy? There would be no Taliban today. Point being the objective wasn’t to fight the Taliban or liberate the Afghan people, the objective was to spend $ 300 million a day for 20 years with practically no oversight on that spending. In Israel, the Gaza war costs Israel around $272 million a day, Imagine if the Israeli government pumped $272 million a day in to the economies of the West Bank and Gaza? There would be no Hamas. I guess the argument would be that this is too reductive and idealistic to work, but consider what the more ‘rational’ minds have archived here. This is why one mustn't conflate the horrors of the Israeli Government with the Israeli people, in the same way that you mustn't conflate the horrors of Hamas with the people of Palestine. There is a massive divide between the aspirations of the people and the governments that represent them. The question is why? The answer is the self interests of the people in power outweigh the interests of the people they represent.

Stephen's comment acknowledges Bassem's significance as a voice for many Arab Americans, Arabs in the Arab world, and Palestinians who feel unheard and marginalized by the media. However, Bassem's influence extends far beyond these groups. His message resonates with people of diverse nationalities, including Europeans, because he speaks with reason and articulates sentiments that resonate with those who value critical thinking. While Bassem's perspective is undoubtedly important for Palestinians and Arab communities, his broader appeal lies in his ability to articulate ideas that resonate with people worldwide. He provides a voice for those who believe in fairness, justice, and nuanced understanding, regardless of nationality. It's essential to recognize that not all Palestinians are responsible for specific acts of violence, and Bassem's ability to convey this message contributes to the fact that the Israel / Palestinian conflict is a lot more complex than Israel or many of the Western media outlets convey.
