Pat Doyle - I’ve never forgotten his Whiff-Whaff comments from 2012 (but I completely disagree with his politics). He’s rich enough this is going to benefit for him. Basically what (I’m now about 80% sure about) is that the hope is to turn the UK into a tax haven. So the very rich don’t have to answer to the EU regulations (which try to limit that sort of dishonesty). Sadly, the poorest have been sold this dream of a better life for them (when the reality is that it’s going to benefit those who want to save a bit more tax so they can buy another yacht).

The problem, Matthew Jamison, is that the UK during the 20th and 21st century was a colonial power then the English speaking gateway into the European Market. Without the colonial power or unhindered access to the Eurozone's single market, the UK will find out, for the first time in modern history, what it means to be a small island nation with little economic leverage. The financial hit won't be a tiny bump in the road. One of the UK's strongest sectors, banking, is already beginning to migrate to other nations that offer an English Language port into Europe.
@thetooginator153
@thetooginator153 5 жыл бұрын
Jeff Harbaugh - That’s true. I think it’s easier to think about problems in other countries than our own. However, that was the main tactic Russia used to influence our election: make it so depressing that a lot of people didn’t want to vote. Republicans always vote, but Democrats can be demoralized pretty easily. I think Republicans vote consistently because they feel they have a personal stake in the outcome, and they’re right. Liberals want exciting candidates who will do great things, whereas Republicans want tax cuts, gun rights, and no abortions, and they don’t care who does it.

It is important for media to refer England as England and not Britain or the UK because Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales have very distinct & strong identities, even having their own native languages granted these aren't spoken as much as England these days, though Welsh is very much on the comeback. It doesn't bother most English people (myself included) but it bothers people from the other countries that make up the UK especially given the history shared.... and when I say history a lot of this stuff isn't nessesarily hundreds of years ago.... there is a good amount of stuff in living memory such has Capel Celyn in Wales, a village which was in a valley that the ENGLISH (not Welsh) government wanted to make into a reseviour and flooded the people out.... and to rub salt in the wounds the water isn't even mainly for Welsh use but for Liverpool. There are countless other things that I could list that make these other countries feel screwed over by the English government all in living memory and to a less extreme extent it still carries even now.... a lot of stuff isn't even things that can directly be blamed on the English government BUT then the English government handle things very poorly making people feel screwed over. For example the Potato Famine of 1845-1849 in Ireland..... the famine itself was caused by nature BUT Englands miss handling of it, forcing people to export the little they were able to grow ect, made things much worst and many historians believe if it wasn't for how things were handled by the English people would has still died but no where in the numbers as they did..... put it this way yes it was a very long time ago but when combining the Republic of Ireland & Northern Irelands population populations they still have not recovered since..... (combining both countries the total population is around 6.6 million & before the famine it was around 8.2 million) and this was a contributing factor that lead to The Troubles, a war lasting 1968 - 1998. I think something else that adds insult to injury is in English schools we aren't taught this stuff.... like most people around my age from England have no idea what I'm on about.... even with The Troubles..... I only know about this stuff as my family felt it was important for me to know.... Imagine calling a Chinese person Japanese *cough* Rape of Nanjing *cough* and when they tell you they're Chinese you say to them "Who cares its basically the same"..... its exaclty the same....

I'm sure the sampling was bias, all the Brits I've ever met were totally ignorant about the US

Since Trump slithered on to the scene, the whole world has had to sit up and pay attention to the man on a mission to destroy the world.

MoneyIsSilver brits aren’t ignorant about the us, we’re just sick to death of hearing America thinking it is or was the best when that’s not true, America never was and never will be the best

As an Aussie, I know one thing about america.......we both LOVE COLD BEER.....none of that room temp swill they serve over in Limeyland

Ulbre De Folie that’s ale not beer, there’s not much difference but still a difference. The majority of people drink cold beer hence why there’s fridges and a whole isle in supermarkets dedicated to cold beer and a tiny section for ale.

@@pipedream690 .....can't agree mate. I spent 6 months in UK and beer on tap was served warm (it may be cold to a brit, but not to an aussie).....bottled beer from the fridge was warm....the fridges were set to 12 degrees C. In New South Wales pubs must serve the beer on tap at between 1 and 1 1/2 degC. I went to Ale houses in the UK. It tasted like swill until I put some ice in it, then it was better....but then all the inbreds wanted to fight me for putting ice in it....lol....fools
