Why is there no "Incredible Journey" / Buddy Cop movie of RuPaul, Rollins, and William Shatner rushing across three continents to get an oscillator to Giorgio Moroder for his big comeback concert atop Mt. L7, Babes in Toyland (met the bassist on the way to see Echo and the Bunnymen), Faith no More (Mike Patton is hawt too), Living Colour.. then finally got to see Tenacious D, who were playing at the stage next to Prodigy (which was the first electronic based album I owned.. music for the jilted generation). It was a fabulous weekend all around, and actually found the group of high school friends that came to Chicago for the show. It was nice to watch the Bears game that weekend with my homies! @PaulGuy2 жыл бұрын
It's not really stand-up, as he doesn't really do comedy as it's normally understood. He tells stories. They're quite often hilarious stories, but they're also often dark or tragic or just weird. I saw a spoken word show of his where he talked about appearing on a William Shatner album produced by Ben Folds, and then Shatner flew in a friend that's a professional chef to make them lobster or something that night. He also talked about doing a USO show in Afghanistan, and how weird it was to go cruising around in a truck with guys with loaded rifles and see buildings full of bullet holes.

@NotAllBooksSmellNice2 жыл бұрын
@@dannybursace9151 He's been a gay rights supporter/campaigner since he was a teenager, and his spoken word universally expresses his open minded beliefs and love of a wide variety of performance. There seems to be this weird idea that macho types are somehow closed minded or socially conservative, but I think if you look at macho figures in media they're usually pretty open minded socially.
@dannybursace91512 жыл бұрын
Gotcha, makes sense then 👍
@Pgoodso2 жыл бұрын
@@dannybursace9151 His persona is a manic but thoughtful appreciator of those who go against the grain. Thinking he's a testosterone filled freak is what's ironic. Because all these kind artists that generally speak in awe of the diverse wonders of our world often have fans that like them because they think the artist they like hates the same things they hate. That not only are they misunderstood, but they're often misrepresented as saying the exact opposite of what they're saying. See most posts from your smug uncle on Facebook with "quotes" from George Carlin owning the libs or some similar nonsense. Similarly, I bet a lot of sneering elitist douchenozzles like to think that they like Rollins, or at least his music, and I bet that, occasionally, that drives Mr. Rollins nuts, hehe. Eh, whacha gonna do? Artists can only send the message, they can't enforce how it's gonna be received.
