I agree with the other guy I think he’s just offended and trying to make a critical point based off all that. Everything he said before was right and him calling stuff gay only supports that it’s not lazy that’s his personal. The thing I love about Shane's performance style is that he constantly seems like he's checking in with the audience to make sure they are having as much fun as he is, and he'll actually comment on it in the moment. It's so different than most comedians who just power through whatever prepared stuff they have. Shane comes off feeling more like a buddy you're hanging out with who wants to make sure you're laughing just as hard as he is, and that's super endearing.

I really appreciate this vid. Your insight and perspective gives, honesty. The “Synonym-Comedy” comment is truly insightful and logical. Puts all of these people in on a spectrum. I was always thinking to myself when listening or watching comedians that use the synonym tactics, “this is not that funny” but I couldn’t put my finger on the reason behind my criticism. I always thought that I was just to jaded and know I can pinpoint the reason why I’m not , fall on the floor laughing like the audience is. I imagine it’s hard to catch next to tons of people laughing uncontrollably. Thanks again

He's definitely influenced by norm to some extent. He also does that thing norm did where he pretends to be a really simple dumb guy when he's secretly much more intelligent. I also love that norm reached out when he was being canceled and fired from snl with a private heartfelt message of support and encouragement.

So was Bill Cosby, incredibly skilled and influential, but you don't see people replaying his shit all the time, because they don't wanna look at his stupid face after what he's done. This is one of the best comedy analysis videos I’ve seen in a while. I’ve definitely been turned off by stand off since the death of King Norm. Feels like stand up has been a horrifying jumble of simply unfunny people, self-congratulatory douchebags, and pseudo-intellectuals who think they can revolutionize the concept. Shane is certainly a breath of fresh air and this video does a great job of explaining his comedy. Really hope he does another Netflix special.

Louis asked grown women if they would consent to him having a shuffle - the adult women, who had already agreed to go back to Louis' room, all said yes. The adult women hoped this would advance their career - something Louis never said or implied. Since Louis was known for doing this since the turn of the century, when he had very, very little 'Star Power' it would be unfair to suggest Louis was abusing his position. He is simply an adult man who had a kink, who always asked for consent - and only asked adult women.
@liferadous15 күн бұрын
This just isn't true. Only two women agreed to meet him in his hotel room, together, believing it was for professional purposes. Two women were approached at their workplaces, where he was powerful. (If you go to your subordinate at work and ask if you can jack off in front of them, you will be fired, with good reason.) One got ambushed over the phone. Those are just the five originally brought up in the New York Times expose. NONE said they agreed because they thought it was a quid pro quo for their careers. More have come out since and shared in the documentary. You are repeating LIES manufactured as part of an expensive PR firm's spin package for a millionaire who does not care about you. You're unjustly slandering these women who got violated by their hero and spent years being too scared to say anything. I used to like Louie, too. I changed my mind based on new evidence. Are you a person who pays attention to facts and evidence? Because you're not acting like one right now.
@garyphisher737515 күн бұрын
@@liferadous Violated by their hero - there you go comparing women to children. He asked - they consented. If women want equality, then they should live by the same rules as men. Not a single man would complain if a woman asked if she could rub one out in front of them. Stop taking away their agency. Stop treating them like infants.

lmao imagine saying Louie "abused" women with a straight face. He asked if he could wack it in front of them and they all said yes, and then took the opportunity to play the victim or get a payday. That's why it's funny in his bits. When he says, 'make sure you say, ARE YOU SURE'. To call that abuse is clown tier to the max.
@carefreeme82023 ай бұрын
I always thought it was abuse of his power over much less known comedians than him. That they might have thought he wouldn't keep booking them if they didn't let him do it. But yeah, its wasnt NEARLY as bad as the media made it sound. He never physically made them sit there and watch. Weird? Yeah, but its not like he is Cosby. Or maybe he never did those things and he set it all up because he was sick of the mega fame???
@AvastarBin3 ай бұрын
It's definitely abuse of power and I understand that the victims feel used. However I don't think that was intentional on his part, he just enjoy people watching, he asked and I don't think he thought about it too much
@SneakyG593 ай бұрын
@@AvastarBin just because it has the word "abuse" in it, doesn't mean being an abuser and abusing your power are remotely similar. An abuser always has a victim, someone who is abusing their power does not always have victims, and in most cases isn't even hurting or involving another party.
@AvastarBin3 ай бұрын
@@SneakyG59 I'm confused at your comment and what you're trying to achieve here. Someone that's abusing his power over someone else definitely HAS victims : the ones that he has power over. And knowingly or not, Louis ck abused his power over some people and those people were victims of his abuse.

santino is one of those dudes that i consider funny but would NEVER watch anything recorded or "material" from them. There's a few others that fall into the same category. It's really not even a slight towards him, i mean it in the best way. Being spur of the moment/off the cuff type funny is great, situational humor and just having the wit to be funny in conversation and on the spot. He cracks me up on Bad Friends, but yeh, not a "prepared material" guy.

Shane is undeniably funny. His stand up, his podcasts, his youtube skits and his tv show. His "that's gay" catch phrase, though it is politically incorrect and harsh on a minority, his crowds are mainly men and they have all grown up with that word scaring them and threatening their status in their peer groups. it is loaded with discomfort, and discomfort is where comedians play.
