ChiefMedicPururu A writer wanted to show off how smart Batman was by having Bats figuring out that an Japanese woman was actually Martain Manhunter in disguise via the name Manhunter was going by was the Japanese word for Mars. Thing was, the writer didn't look up what the name would be and asked a friend what that would be. Said friend trolled the writer by giving the real name of Sailor Mars without letting the writer know until the comic already went to print. Thus Batman canonically watched Sailor Moon and probably every episode just in case. And people extend it to various other anime because Batman is prepared for anything.

Every time someone brings up Fredric Wertham and Seduction of the Innocent, I'm reminded of the paper I wrote on comic censorship, which led to my discovery that before publishing that book, Wertham was actually a totally stand-up dude, who fought against segregation in schools and the disenfranchisement of the mentally ill. It honestly seems like Wertham saw that a) kids in poor environments engage in criminal activity (though of course criminal activity is often necessary to survive in those environments), and b) kids in those same poor environments enjoyed reading comic books, and he put the two together as "comic book reading must cause delinquency and criminality!" And because this was the 1950s, nobody called him out for blatantly ignoring the scientific method in the course of this snap judgement, because it fit the public's preconceived notions. But yeah, you'd think the guy who accused Batman and Robin of being gay or Superman of being a fascist was a huge racist bigoted moron or something, but no, he did good stuff before and that's WAY more mind boggling.

It should be pointed out that Wertham did make a breakthrough with his study of the brain back in the 1930s and 40s. The only good point Wertham had was the explicit racism in comics of the 1950s. Otherwise he pretty much wasted his once productive career crusading against comics and mass media.

So, strange thing about the Hostess ads: apparently, while Marvel and DC agreed to having their heroes show up in the ads, there were stipulations that the comics could never portray said heroes actually *eating* their products. I have no idea why, but I guess that's why Superman just kinda leaves before eating the pies, despite their status as most valuable thing in the universe.

Also one hostess ad I am anticipating is one that involves the Joker throwing Hostess pies at cops, but ends up captured and put in the way back to Arkham (Comics Code still was a thing) and when the cops asked why he didn’t keep any to which the Joker proclaims that he doesn’t like them. I think Bat-Baby not being as fast as Robin makes sense purely out of the fact his stride would be cut severely. I mean even if he has the same adult physical strength in his legs he'd have to take probably 3 or 4 steps to reach the same distance as an adult.

Back when Hostess made the deal with both Marvel and DC, part of it was that the superheroes couldn’t eat the Hostess products, but the villans, like Joker, or just other people in the comic could eat the Hostess products.

Small thing, but I can actually explain the whole "He kept his strength but not his speed" thing. His body as a whole is shorter, and while he can still use them as effective as he could as an adult, it's like three steps for him are the same as one step for Robin. Maybe not that big a difference, but if Robin kept up with Bats as an adult, then he's going to lag behind in a child's bod. Dude just doesn't have the reach.

Sin's Past is one of, if not the worst Spiderman story ever. In a lot of way's the comic is worse then OMD because it drag's both Gwen Stay and Mary Jane's characters through the gutter. It reveals that Gwen had an affair with Norman and birthed accelerated aging twins from it she never told Peter about and that Osborn killed her to keep the twins a secret and raised them in Europe to hate and want to kill Peter by telling them Peter had killed Gwen. It also reveals MJ knew about the affair from the beginning and never told Peter because Gwen her me promise not to tell. It is so bad Marvel tries to pretend it doesn't exist. Because the twins only made 1 other appearance in a two issue story where they were shoved off to Europe and never seen again. It's also still canon.

The worst part about the story all of it's badness comes down to 1 stupid executive mandate. The same one responsible for One More Day. 'Peter isn't allowed to be an adult.' The original story was supposed to be that the kids were Peter's. That Norman found out about them before Gwen told Peter, killed Gwen, and then kidnapped the kids to raise as his own and brainwash. But Joe Casada said no because 'having kids would make Peter seem old.'

Even though likely no one will see this and I'll have to write this out again when the next episode comes out to see more people's opinion of it, I've a theory. Vice, is Jairus' father. Let me explain. This came from me rewatching the Sleepwalker Saga. When Vice was on his ship, and remarked about how many allies he has lost, I thought that originally when he set out to destroy the Entity he was trying only to do that with those who escaped the Entity's clutches, including perhaps his wife and son(the original meaning behind the V of the ship was Victory). However a huge battle with a warmongering dictatorship caused the death of many, including said wife, he decided to begin to take worlds over. One of the few survivors was his son, who he didn't want to grow up as the son of a conqueror, so he gave his son partial immunity to inter universal harm(what I call the reason Jairus needed his watch and Vice needed his suit since I forget what Linksano called it), and sent him to a Universe harmful to plentiful in the metal that harms Outer Gods. Vice didn't use much of it so that he had a place to retreat to in case his ship was destroyed. Anyway, the reason Jairus was able to survive in other universes back while he was rounding up gunslingers for help without his watch was because of this immunity, but it wore off after returning to his "home." If this were true, not only would it give Vice even more sympathy(BTW, my head canon is that he took the name Vice after he started committing more vices and people began to call him that. Eventually, after destroying an entire city for less than moral reasons, he made himself a new suit of armor, began to build shades instead of recruiting people to his cause, and eventually became Lord Vice) but I would also add more connections between the villains of past seasons.

There was an episode of Justice League Unlimited where the heroes turned to children. It was through magic, not science, but it was a solid episod, and showed that the premise could feasibly work. The ending also had the poignant moment with Wonder Woman musing that it was nice to be a child again... Followed by Batman grimly noting "I haven't been a kid since I was eight years old."

The super siren just makes me think of a story I was told once. Basically, this kid had a horn on his bicycle that he rode around the neighborhood honking. One day, a dude comes out of his house and asks the boy if he wants that horn to be even louder, to which the boy accepts. The man then takes the horn, hammers it down flat, and gives it back to the boy. Obviously, it never honked again.
