The pulps themselves were influenced by such characters as Sherlock Holmes and Poe's C. Auguste Dupin, not to mention the works of Jules Verne and HG Wells. Literature is really just a never-ending stream of ideas that become reconfigured to new media and rewritten for new generations.

I think greatest influence comes from swashbuckler novels which were all about defeating the bad guys, Saving the day & getting the girl. Almost jingoistic level of heroism. Characters like James bond are very pulpy in nature despite not really appearing in Pulp magazine first. Not denying books you mentioned influenced Pulp but when you look how these pulpheroes are, majorly they feel like an updated swashbuckler story to the contemporary times of those writers. They were also not considered higher level literature so focused more on women, action & adventure to rope in average fellow who can't afford to enjoy that in real life but could buy the pulp magazine.

All the way back to mythology. The crew of Jason's Argo included Hercules, a warrior woman, speedsters, an archer, and the son of a sea king. Like the JLA each of these had their own myths before teaming up in this quest. The Fantastic Four are the four elements, fire, rock, air and water.

Hope you can do a video centering on The Shadow. In Starlog Magazine #200, its noted that Bill Finger cited Douglas Fairbanks, Zorro, The Shadow, & Doc Savage as inspirations for Batman.

Here's a few of mine. 1860's Rocambole (france's first super villain and anti-hero and first larger than life character) 1890's Ironman (first vigilante who seem to be wearing a domino mask but its a ball mask). 1899 the human bat (Irish Batman precursor based on old Springheeled jack stories, Could fly before Nelson Lee) 1905 Arsene Lupin (best known for his unoffical Japanese grandson), 1905 Lieut. Gullivar Jones: His Vacation,(John Carter's inpiration) 1909 Doctor Omega (Doctor who precursor) 1911 Le Nyctalope (first cyborg sci-fi hero, could breath underwater and in space, Could see in the Dark, Had an artificial heart, fought the devil) Fanthomas 1913, Judex 1916 (partial inspiration for the Shadow) 1915 Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (Last of the smugglers but also precursor to Zorro), The trio of the Man in Purple, the Bat and Zorro, 1931 Ogon Bat(Japan's first superhero, could fly and had super speed and strength, good luck with that DC) 1941 Purple Scar (Originator of the Spider Sense)

Doc Savage also used top floors of a tall New York building for headquarters before The Fantastic Four. Black Hawks' Challengers of the Unknown and sea devils had teams of adventurers similar to Doc Savage.

Japanese travelling storytellers used large painted panels to tell about characters like the Golden Bat who fought evil from a cave hideout. He also flew and wore a red cape.

Aladin which had a magic lamp and magic ring was from a Syrian Story teller and added to One Thousand and one nights which was research of Arabic stories by an Englishman estimated to be circa 1706 to 1721. This was original inspiration for Green Lantern although he was later changed.

Wealthy scions using their fortunes to wage a private war against crime: it comes from the pulps. Heroes training in the Far East, especially Tibet, where they learn martial arts and even gain mystic abilities? That also comes from the pulps.

Wonder woman in many ways is classic trope of hero meeting Princess of faraway land who happens to be from another world & culture. Only difference is here the focus is on the Princess over the man.

Overall a good video, but notice a big mistake in the origin of the Black Bat. He did not seek out for a surgery on his eyes. Instead, Carole Baldwin approached him about having a secret surgery to use the eye of her slain police chief father for new eyes. The surgeon had been doing experiments on the side to give one the ability to see in the dark, so this lead to him having eyesight AND being able to see in the dark, but kept it secret, letting people to think he was still blind. Carole Baldwin would become part of his small group of associates, and possible love interest.

Ant Man shrunk to the size of an ant and communicated with ants which assisted him in fighting villains. Later assisted by wife that shrunk to insect size costume grew wings to fly and had armbands that would shoot a stink.
