I'm rewatched The Spectacular Spider-Man. Now that Ben and Ethan know who the Enforcers are, it is the perfect time for a Spectacular Spider-Man commentary. Holy crap in the first episode many seeds are sown, huge characters are introduced, and the world is completely fleshed out in 22 minutes. If you are wondering if you should watch, Eddie Brock is in the first episode and plays a huge role throughout the show. Mary Jane's appearance is hugely similar to her original in the comics.

The super-hero assignment that Peter got in class was actually shown in Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special no. 1. He gives a big speech and says that with great power there must also come great responsibility (how does this kid keep a secret identity?). At the end he says that his hero is his father. I thought that it should have been Uncle Ben, but whatever lol

I remember reading volume 3 sitting in the hospital after my great grandmother had a stroke for the first time. 5 or 6 months later she died. But I remember that clearly and it makes me happy when I think back to it because it was a good money in the dark time

about kingpin being the main antagonist, I agree. I remember a wizard interview for the 100th issue of ultimate Spider-man where Bendis said that Fisk and Osborn are main antagonists because everytime one of them shows up Peter learns an important life lesson and his life is drastically altered. Osborn is Peter's enemy and Fisk is Spiderman's

also, that subplot about the pick your own superhero does happen in an annual or a team up book. I remember flash picking punisher and everyone freaks out "he's not a superhero!" and Peter picks his dad as his superhero.

I had a subscription in high school for the first like 30 some issues and loved every one. This series was incredible and I really related to Peter. I still chuckle at the insults Peter throws at Fisk, and the ultimate version of Gwen was awesome
