Secret Six is more interesting than the Amazing Spider-Man announcement. Don’t know why Marvel is so stuck on Peter needing to be the “classic version”, and not getting anything new. Kelly’s writing on Spider-Man has also just been bad and I’m tired of it just feeling like a comedy book.

At this point Slott run was better than the same shit that we keep getting in ASM. That run was more interesting with Spidey life in the first half of Slott run.

I enjoy Kickass like most people but my theory is that it's success was the beginning of the end for JRJR... He was still good as recent as the early 2010s (Wolverine Enemy of the State) but now he draws everything in that Kickass manakin/string puppet style, and it works for nothing else

@@jbbrolic I just think he’s too old. He peaked with the early 2000s Spider-Man run in my view. I don’t like his more recent work. His art is still “good”. Better than most of the c-listers Marvel uses but his signature style is just bland. The colorists don’t know what to do with the inks either

The best image to start a video. I did calculations on Peter Parker’s age. He is Canonically and currently 30 years old. Back in 2014 he said he was bitten by the spider 13 years ago, since he was 15 back then, Peter was 28 back in 2014. Plus 2018 Nick Spencer’s run Peter was 29. And 2022 to now Peter is 30. Just less than 2 more year in 2026 Peter will be 31 years old. Feel old yet?

The Secret Six can stay a secret. I may try the first few issues of the ASM based on the new creative team, but I’ll decide whether to or not based on the information the comes out over the next few months giving more details about what they really have planned.

I also didn't know where the Cheistmas issue of USM was going. The whole thing with the sister doesn't feel like it's going to have payoff, but I truly hope those last few pages lead to something interesting. For all its flaws, I am anticipating every USM every month and for a monthly, serialized medium, that's what you want. I will check out ASM, but that pitch hasn't built any anticipation in me.

I’m not picking up ASM until MJ and Peter are engaged. I had so much good will for the title at the end of Spencer’s run. I even liked Beyond for some of its character work…and then they just took them apart again…for no reason. Paul isn’t even a cool character.

@superjlk_9538 I'm in same boat. I enjoyed Spencer's run as well. A bit too breezy on the storytelling where every issue felt done too fast, but that's decompression for ya. Getting rid of Sins Past and ending with MJ with Peter gave me so much hope for the series. I thought for sure that Beyond was going to lead to something cool, but at least those stories were competent. This past run by Zeb Wells has just been confusing and hard to read. I stopped around the Chasm/Pryor storyline(??) I forget the title AND what even happened. I picked up one issue of 8 Deaths, and I was still just confused. So I'm open to at least trying the first few issues of ASM. I don't expect 1 to blow me away, but it's kind of sad that my test is if it can at least give 4-5 issues that make sense.

@@moonjellykevin I read until issue 26. Or whichever one has the death of Kamala. I gave up after that. I didn’t like the resolution of the MJ and Paul mystery (all of the ideas I had in my own head were actually better) and then they killed off Kamala in a Spider-Man book for MCU mutant synergy.

Jon Kent on Secret Six is cool. He’s needed something to do and Nicole Maines has surprised me. I’ll check it out because DC All In has surprisingly been great. And what a snoozer of an ASM announcement. Joe Kelly brought no excitement for 8 deaths and this falls even flatter. No thanks. Maybe I’ll be curious when Nick Lowe is removed.

I’m so disappointed that Joe Kelly is staying on Spider-Man. He writes him super annoying. It’s like writers nowadays think the way you make funny characters is to have them talk and talk and talk. It’s like they all think the Big Bang theory is a comedic masterpiece. I’m also super sick of Peter not being with MJ. I tried to explain to my dad (the Spider-Man fan who got me into Spider-Man) everything that’s happening with MJ and Paul and whatever else and he was just like “I would have quit reading that comic years ago if I were you”. At this point I don’t even know why I continue to read it. It hasn’t been great on a long time. I thought Nick Spencer’s run started to head in the right direction but now we’ve gone so far the other direction I’ve lost all optimism for the series and of course Peter and MJ getting back together. I wish I had the willpower to just drop it already.

Our cover artist was the colorist for Gail Simone's Secret Six series from a decade ago, which actually had as many gay/queer themes rolling around in it (Scandal, Knockout, Ragdoll, Porcelain) as the current series promises to have. Regardless of that, I would certainly buy the new Secret Six if he was coloring it again. But since he isn't, I won't. I don't have an interest in any of the characters except Black Alice, anyway. And I'm not a fan of the continued Nicole Maines self-insert agenda at DC. This person was an actor in a TV series (Supergirl) where the first two seasons were good, but the rest were execrable, and most of that content included Maines, who was introduced as a 'woke' version of Dream Girl from the Legion. Why does that dubious casting distinction suddenly qualify Maines to become a comic book writer, as opposed to just fading into pop culture obscurity? They're not asking Grant Gustin or Stephen Amell to write the Flash and Arrow books, are they?

I guess some people just don’t care? It might be because a lot of the customers and younger where I am so they just don’t know about the time when he was married and had growth?

Jay was created to be Jon's boyfriend so they could make him gay and not have to actually work at forming a relationship. They had no plans for him beyond that. Of course they don't know what to do with him. It wasn't done for story reasons.

So we're doing a secret six books where we're literally having self-insert dreamer because it's written by Nicole Maines who plays the character which that's great and all but Jesus Christ a love triangle between three men people don't want to see gay Superman at all and yet DC still trying to double down but also trying to do a upcoming story where John Kent is supposed to be the age like make that make sense cuz he really don't especially when Jay is a terrorist so I don't even know why he is even considered a hero He's already a villain. And there's no way in the world lowest lane or Superman would allow John to go with them hoes but okay sure we're supposed to believe this I mean it was so unbelievable that Superman allowed his son to go into space with his grandfather and his wife but sure okay. And wow another relaunch of Spider-Man because that's what I wanted another relaunch with Peter Parker he's quote unquote new girlfriend and him not having a job again because that's relatable I don't understand how that's relatable because right now I have a job and a family So at this point Peter Parker is the one that's unrealistic because it only no sense to being your 30s and still not have a job sorry get this man a job and have him married with Mary Jane Watson and some kids like in the conversation if you can't do that it ain't no point of buying these books.
