In the Atakora mountain range lives a tribe proud of its traditions: the Somba.
This people earned their fame from their two-story fortified houses, known as Tata Somba, that they built to protect themselves when tribal wars were still a regular occurrence.
Nowadays, the Somba people live peacefully as subsistence farmers. But they have never left the Tata Somba around which all their traditions are organised.
Dominique is a young Somba who has just turned 18. And the Council of Elders has just decided that tomorrow he will begin the rites of passage into adulthood. A week of initiation which represents an important turning point in the life of every Somba man.
