I just got my comma 3x and installed it at night time with the help of this video. I'd estimate this took me about 45min or so. The masking tape trick was a beautiful idea, definitely the fastest way to do this "right". I was able to easily gauge the visible bottom of my mirror using the tape. I live in southern cali so im hoping i can use it by tomorrow if i leave it outside for 24hrs.

I just installed mine last week. Eyeballed the mount and it seams to work fine. I didn’t know this about my Prius but you can actually move the mirror higher as it has a two point swivel which meant that even though I technically mounted the mount slightly too high, I was able to adjust the mirror where I could still see the entire camera. I guess I got lucky. I commute 20k miles a year and 144 miles per day. For $1350, the Comma 3X with a harness is a sweet deal. Much better than TSS 2.0. I mostly use the standard mode on the highway but I do switch to the experimental mode as I approach my exit as it does a better job of slowing down and recognizing red lights and stop 🛑. Than being said, it’s still too slow to get going at lights. Also, the RJ35 cable is no more. They integrated it into one cable which runs from the harness to the OBD2 port.

Super helpful video - and I've been using OpenPilot/SunnyPilot for 3+ years now on my Toyota Prius Prime. I found your channel/video because we just leased a Hyundai Ioniq 5 which is very similar to your vehicle (Hyundai owns about 1/3 of Kia). I'm waiting just a few weeks to hopefully catch Comma's yearly Black Friday sale and I'll be installing it on the Ioniq. I'm with you - I can't hardly drive a vehicle without it now as it really does make driving chill. One of our deciding factors for the Ioniq was its support by Comma (my wife insisted!). Especially helpful: your caution about routing the ODB cable *behind* the side curtain airbags. Thank for for this important note/caution!

Nice job on the video. I just bought one and hope to have it fully installed by next week on my GT. I was wondering though, HDA2/ACC disconnects when hitting the GT mode button. What does sunnypilot do in this case? Disengage? Keep going? Are there any issues when switching among the other drive modes eco/normal/sport? (I do it often) I also drive in single pedal mode always. How does it handle this?

@@EVERYTHINGcpo Thanks. The ADAS in my truck (Rivian) does a good job of keeping the truck centered in the lane. However, when I pass 18 wheel trucks, sometimes they tend to drift too close to the centerline and I disengage the ADAS to move further to the left. Does the comma3 unit move left of center for you when a car on your right gets too close, or does it just stay in the center of the lane?

Great video but I've been wondering for so long, I have an Ioniq 6 SEL. How much better is the Comma device than our built in adaptive cruise and lane centering with lane change assistance using HDA II ?
@EVERYTHINGcpo5 ай бұрын
@@markshellard way better and improving daily. But even if you just had the same level of capability, the ability to be completely hands off the steering wheel is worth it! I drove the my Golf R the other day and while it does fairly well with lane following, it felt really odd to have to make sure I wiggle the steering wheel periodically.

@@markshellard oh and another thing that you’ll notice. HDA is only available in our cars on designated highways (uses the built in maps I assume). With the C3X auto lane changes can happen on any road and at any speed.

Hello fellow GT/C3X owner! Have you experienced the FCW light come on consistently when sunnypilot boots up? Also somewhat related I have noticed when in auto regen mode with sunnypilot (not engaged though) it'll randomly go to max regen when I take my foot off the accelerator
@EVERYTHINGcpo4 ай бұрын
@@ridgeracr19 interesting questions. I have seen the FCW light come on periodically, but it goes away when the system is online. I don’t recall it always doing this, but I have noticed it lately. Not sure if there was a change in an update, or if I just wasn’t noticing it before. I have actually not done much experimenting with auto regen and C3X. I typically leave it on regen level 2. With or without C3X I just preferred the behavior of the car in level 2 regen (and of course longitudinal controls give the auto-stopping behavior that auto-regen would normally provide).
