I was just able to use a Scawling Crawler in my The Capitoline Triad deck and one of my opponents was playing Jin Gitaxias (the flip one) who is all aboit drawing cards to find a win con, and throwing that down on turn 3 or something nearly caused him to have a mental breakdown. It being a Phyrexian was also relevant necause then Jin couldnt bounce it to hand with the 2nd lore counter on the back

@inscrutablewut usually the answer is to bounce all (non phyrexian) creatures. There became an extra wrinkle when the guy to my left played a Sheoldred the Apocalypse, so the pongify the Jin player drew into hit her instead, leaving my Crawler still alive

I've been very happy with all the Convoke enablers that've come out in the past few years and compare them to Earthcraft. We Ride at Dawn, Prop Room/ Dazzling Theater, Fallaji Wayfarer, and Peri Brown are all excellent effects in the right deck. I run all of these in different decks and have a Peri / 6th Dr. deck that's an absolute blast to pilot.

Thunderclap Drake is such a house in my Jeleva big spells deck...such an amazing play at any point in the game (early it's ramp, late it's a spell copy spell...if it sticks around from early, it's both). Been surprised i don't see it more in the wild

Song of the Dryads really, really needs to have the errata text printed. There isn't any reason I can see why someone would know that it looses it's abilities. Most cards that do that say that on the card.

It works the same way all similar cards that don't say "...in addition to their other types." do, which is intended. An example is Blood Moon. Non-basics become Mountains, which you would think works like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, but it lacks that line of text I quoted above. Reminder text explaining this mught be helpful, though.

Same effect, but Time Warp is a targeted ability. So, unlike the other is can be stolen with redirect effects. So be careful

@29:27 - Have to disagree with you on this one, I think Lolth, Spider Queen is the easiest planeswalker to ultimate I've ever seen. Most times I play her it can be done on the turn she comes out. But, Teferi's Ultimate is MUCH more powerful, so he definitely has that advantage.

I just hate cards like Song of the Dryad. Call me mad, but I don't think it's okay to potentially lock someone's commander out. There were so many games I witnessed, where one player just sits there, cause it's commander is an indestructible bug or a forest land. Mostly resulted in unfun games. If I can, I remove these cards even from enemy commanders.

I've noticed this. The most casual players are ok with their commanders being removed however when you turm their stuff into something else they switch off

No offense but just run more enchantment removal. You just have to deal with it once and you’re done. Plus it still gives you 1 mana to work with

@axelbrackeniers5488 yeah that's not the issue here. Read again what I wrote. Also what happens if you don't draw it? Or if someone just doesn't run removal? A fast paced game with four people popping off, that's finished in 25 minutes, is way better than a game where everyone runs 18+ removals and we slug it out for the next 1 1/2 hours. Like I said, I witnessed enough games where one play got shut out by cards like these and it results in miserable games for at least one player. EDH was meant to be a casual format. A format to get away from the sweaty ass bullshit that was standard or pioneer. A format where you could and should play obscure cards and build around a commander and have fun. For me personally cards that shut out commanders have no place in this format. Run removal instead. In reality this changes almost nothing. But feels way less miserable.

@@whostoblame1 i really understand what you are saying, but there are MUCH worse things in the format. I have died to sanguine bond/exquisite blood combos on turn 4 in “casual” pods. I’ve lost because someone was casting cyclonic rift and getting it back out of the graveyard for 3 turns in a row, i’ve lost to kikki-jikki infinite burn etc. Some players run the most insane and unsatisfying combos the game has ever seen, you NEED effects like Darksteel Mutation to turn someone’s commander into a 0/1 insect so that they dont win on turn 4. Stax pieces are necessary in the format, too many players are used to winning on turn 4/5 with dumb combo’s because no one ever stops them. I’ve seen mono green win a million times because no one wants to run land destruction. Mono green ramp is legitimately OP in casual commander.
