I love the fact that this Utopian society where humanity has evolved past its primitive ways. Where we explore the stars and wiped out hunger, war and poverty has its roots and foundation with one crazy drunk lol

Yeah, you should see my neighbor, he's nut! Always talking about some damn flux capacitor and can go on and on about table top fusion, I have no idea what the hell he is talking about, most of the time. Good guy though, just a slush.

@@johnrust592 Good example being the man who made all this technology we're using possible, Professor Alan Turing. He is believed to have Asperger's Syndrome, which made it harder for him to socialize, and being a gay man during the WWII era just made it even harder for him to blend in with society at large. But no matter the difficulties he faced, he still became a legend, helping end WWII and saving the world, and making computing a reality. Now his vision of a machine brain is nearing completion. We've already had AIs that passed the Turing Test, and soon we'll likely be met with the first Strong AI.

The perfect "full stop" on this scene for me was always Troi (Sirtis) going down and Riker (Frakes) doing this almost Elvis-esque ... almost double-take, followed by full facepalm. Great scene brought to ~perfection by that 'capper' of giving the audience that feel of the 'chaotic-ness' finally overwhelming Riker's stoicism and sense of humor... Love it!

A few things: 1. Deanna was so toasted 2. Given how hot her body was back then I don't blame Mr Cochran 3. He almost tagged riker when he threw that liquor bottle at the jukebox and 4. The way Troi's head fell onto that table at the end was just too damned funny 😅 Mrs Sirtis sold that part perfectly

@@Aerose923 She's an empath, not a telepath. She detects emotions rather than thoughts, and all she saw was a drunken, disillusioned fool. Also, post First Contact, he cleaned up a lot and became far more enlightened and visionary after his encounter with the Vulcans. Think about great historical figures in history books... they don't mention if they're drunken wife beaters or not, or they straight up lie and say they were devoted family men!
