Yeah that was interesting but understandable considering the roller coaster ride she had just taken him on the previous episodes. She never truly relayed her intentions with him clearly and had led him on (to a point) before marrying Koss in an earlier episode. He was basically resetting the relationship to where it could potentially progress again (she had divorced her husband by this episode). what he did was make her state her intentions clearly and earn it (also understandable).

Remember: Vulcans DO have emotions; they just suppress them most of the time. And the pon farr is a side effect of repressing their sexual desires. I imagine if Tripol had lasted, she would not have experienced the mating "urge" as often.
@darriuscole8544
@darriuscole8544 2 жыл бұрын
I always thought that it was only the Vulcan males who went into pon farr. When T'Pol mentioned going into pon farr I dismissed it as plot stupidity and non canon as it would be logically nigh-impossible for both males and females to have a pon farr cycle.
@jedsithor
@jedsithor 2 жыл бұрын
@@darriuscole8544 Why? Both males and females suppress their emotions and biological urges. Vulcans as a species are highly emotional beings to the point where they become volatile, irrational and violent. They lack natural impulse control. Logic gave them a way to control themselves but all those emotions are still there, buried deep. It makes perfect sense that females would experience similar side effects to males. I suppose Vulcan women could have a greater degree of self control than men or maybe a longer cycle

@@HawkGTboy, The fully expressed ratings weren't nearly as bad as the old school metrics (that were just beginning to be supplemented by data from other platforms and formats) indicated. @chrisloesch1870
@chrisloesch1870 2 жыл бұрын
@@HawkGTboy Well really the ratings weren't abysmal the viewership was, big difference. The problem with viewership was UPN, Paramount, CBS (i always get confused as to what entity it was during that time period) fault as they put the show on a network that didn't have nationwide syndication and they kept sliding it back further and further until it was in the "death time slot" which caused viewship to plummet in later seasons. Kinda like what happened to TOS. The ratings actually went up significantly in seasons 3 and 4. Had a season 5 happened it would have gotten even better with Coto at the helm who made significant improvements in season 3 but especially season 4. Once Berman and Braga were mostly relieved we started seeing much better stories. Actually at the conclusion of season 4 Enterprise was getting consistently higher fan ratings than Voyager in it's 7 seasons, which was a monumental turn around. I do agree though that Leslie Moonves was an absolute IDIOT! He cancelled the franchise because he hated it from the moment he joined CBS. Guy single handedly destroyed Enterprise because he "didn't like the concept of the show."

While I did enjoy the Tucker/T'Pol romance, the writers could have handled it better. They always made T'Pol too human and tried to retroactively explain it three seasons later. And the Vulcan "massage" angle was absolutely cringe worthy. I would have preferred that she was instructing him in meditation to deal with his sister's death and an inadvertent mind meld/mental bond occurred. It would have justified more intimate contact and been more...Vulcan.

Yeah she was bad. My favorite strangely is that andorian chick Shran was engaged too. Then she died.... Andorian women in general are very attractive to me however. Is that weird? 😆

Agreed! T’Pol was major-league hot, but Hoshi was a river of molten lava 🌋, and brilliant and *funny*, too! Favorite Enterprise ep: “Vanishing Point”, which shows Hoshi in all her glory (and, implied, in her altogether, in the shower).

Too bad one of the network execs hated Star Trek and gave this series the axe - it could have gone several more seasons and it was just getting really good.

It was a bit more than that. Enterprise suffered from poor ratings and viewership on its entire run. There were budget issues throughout the show, some personality conflicts, and of course Braga being a complete misogynist (He was the one behind the decon room idea, for the sole purpose of getting Jolee in her underwear smearing gel over people's bodies.)

@@SignoftheMagi I didn't know that but it wasn't lost on me the sensual nature of that scene. Sill, as an old school Star Trek fan, I was enjoying Enterprise and it got better with time. I'd like to have seen it go for a couple more seasons.

Killing off trip was a big mistake. In fact killing this show was a big mistake. With all the Star Trek going on now why not get this crew back together and at least do a limited series and see how it goes. And as always in sci fi they could bring back Trip. Compared now with the shows going on now Enterprise looks real good.

@Projekt Kobra I agree with one exception. Lower Decks has actually turned out very good. Not laugh out loud funny but it continues the TNG era canon and callbacks in a far better way than the mess that is Discovery or Picard

Honestly with the direction Paramount have taken Trek. I don't think bringing ENT back would fit within it anymore as much as I would like it back and as much as I would like them to correct the ending. Outside cameos in other roles and/or a brief passing as same characters somehow I don't think it would work. The new Treks are set after Voyager (excluding Discovery up until S3) ENT is a prequel to the original series so ENT is the 22/23rd century. The rest are 24th and beyond.

@@MikeWilsonBarrett the real problem would be the cinematography and writing. If Coto was brought back into write that would make it acceptable but like him or hate him Berman was an award winning producer and his closeup shots of characters was epic. Nobody can touch his abilities there and a new producer doing the still shots would make the scenes look strange compared to the original ENT series. At one point in season 4 they experimented with some different techniques and it just felt wayyyy off compared to the rest of the series. Part of it had to do with the fact that season 4 was rushed as they kinda knew a cancellation was looming but it also had to do with Coto experimenting with different camera angles and approaches to filming.
