S+ and even S is a bit too high IMO, mostly because if the enemy didn't bring any casters to the party it is literally useless. But when it can be used it is god-tier. Given how annoying enemy casters can be, I would say high A tier.

Origins has a great mix of spells but I know primal can be so tempting because of how effective it is but origins did the best mixing damage and crowd control ability’s

IMO The game is a lot more interesting and fun on hard and nightmare. I would do the first run on hard and the next on nightmare once you figure out all of the mechanics/gear priority. On normal and easy a lot of the professions become pointless.

Nightmare becomes too easier once you understand how the game works. Solo nightmare is the true challenge.

Blood sacrifice can be used on ranger pets. any blood mage should have zev/ leli as ranger for one of their specs. Also spellbloom is OP on Wynne if you have her at range as a healer. Miasma is also a go-to arcane warrior "taunt" if you don't want to bring a dedicated warrior tank, and it helps greatly with the AW's low hit chance. Mass paralysis is a great alternative to the glyphs for your automated mages that you dont want to micromanage.

When hearing the analysis, I just thought that there could be a very interesting usage for Blood Sacrifice + Blood Wound. If you have a Reaver in your party, you can use Blood Sacrifice to power up the Frenzy effect so they deal more damage, and blood wound to stun a crowd of enemies. It's risky, I've never tried it personally, but it sounds rather curious...

Protip if you wanna trivialize the game spellpower (and therefore magic attribute) is the most important stat, don’t grab any willpower. Also get mana clash earlyish, it’s goated

Fireball was my mage MC's opening play about 80% of the time. Even if the damage is negligible, the knockdown is usually worth it to buy my team a couple seconds to get in position. "Wait, do you hear that? I sounds like..." "Sounds like me casting Fireball."

I'd say, bioware really did something interesting with debuffing auras in DA:O, like, you could stack several area debuffs (leliana's captivating song, shale's stone aura, miasma on your MC) to really ruin the day of anyone who comes into your cozy area of "no fun allowed here", but keeper's "forest" is definitely weakest of the bunch.

What you said about glyph of warding actualy hurts my soul. That spell is an absolute must have for any of my runs and i almost exclusivly use it for my melee characters. When they are stationary and mobing on an enaky they are completly unkillable*

My god, how I wish we could just get another Origins style game instead of whatever the fuck Veilguard is. Please just give me a game where I can use Blood Magic, Spirit Healer, Arcane Warrior/Knight Enchanter, Necromancy and something cool like Veil Magic maybe. Stop removing core components of the world "because its hard to implement" and then reshuffling Force Mage and Primal Magic abilities ever entry, and completely changing the combat system every 1 game and 10 years.

Was looking for this comment, the only good thing about DA Failguard was made me discover Origins. What a mindblowing game! Impossible to imagine a game nowadays where you can sacrifice a mother to save her child, achieving this entering the "hell" (fade) where you can fight the demon to release the child's body, or make a (fair!) deal to demon keep the child and learn forbidden blood magic in the process and becoming the god of spells. You can even choose to make love with the demon, literally a wtf game lol.

It was made by gamers for gamers, and they understood that it's just a game meant to be fun and allow for rpg oppertunites. Around 2012 or so the industry started to change (I have my theory as to why) and got gradually worse since. Dragon Age Origins is my favorite game of all time and I don't see that changing any time soon. It's just amazing, and with mods even better.

I also disagree on Mass Rejuvenation: This ability was WONDERFUL on Nightmare difficulty in many situations for a 3 Mage group since it let us keep our spells flowing without needing to use consumables.

i know its tedious to build around the spells that make you sheathe your sword for AW, but i feel like it's worth it to become (IMO) the best tank in the game. i normally just bring along wynn and sometimes morrigan to handle my destruction and healing. An arcane warrior with a sword might do less damage, but they're still tankier and deal more damage than most warrior builds.

Lightning does (100.0 + Spellpower) * 30% damage, which is 30 + Spellpower * 30%, not 100 + Spellpower * 30% .

Oh, speaking of Mages wearing armor, when you start Awakening you must rebuild your character because by default the Hero of Fereldan is supposed to die in Origins, but for some reason this carries over to Wardens that lived. So if you had the Dual Weapon Mastery perk on your Origins Warden and had two longswords equipped, you can change to a mage when you respec so you can have a dual longsword wielding, heavy armored mage and in Origins, casting spells isn't reliant on having a staff equipped (though you of course don't get access to any staff exclusive benefits) so you can still use all of your spells.

I do think it's a shame that Dragon Age never dabbled in zombies or even summons in general after Origins. Same for the shapeshifter which was awful but so cool if they just worked with it

5:07 I mean, I'm not going to tell people how to play the game, but the intention of Arcane Warrior is supposed to use sustained spells and not direct damage spells. The point of the Arcane Warrior is to use crowd control and buff spells. Why would you go Arcane Warrior and then focus on DPS spells when the DPS is literally the weapon you're supposed to be wielding like a Warrior?
