Even though I am more comfortable and fluent in malayalam, when I talk about scientific, emotional and trauma related topics I switch to English. One of the reason is that I read and learn about these topics in English. Another is most of my colleagues and non judgemental friends are non-malayalees. It's also helps me to keep it professional Most of scientific and technical terms are first derived and conceptualized in English. So I don't think a lot of people would be able to speak purely in Malayalam. I was familiar with word Athijeevikuka since childhood but I didn't know there was a word like Athijeevitha before this case. Even now, I don't know what you call a male survivor. Athijeevakan? PS: it's easy for me to curse in English. I don't know why, but I can't curse in malayalam 😜

@@nokandaunniidhnjanalla9615 exactly.. even if I know malayalam very well, I struggle to express my frustration in malayalam. I can do it in shorter and better ways in English. Its difficult for me to find the right word to express the right intensity. Where as when I have to use sarcasm or try to relate using movie dialogues , Malayalam is the best medium. But again, this also helps to me not to curse in front of my parents 😁. If I am speaking in English, I have to actively filter myself not to use curse words but while conversing in Malayalam, am a nishku 😁😇

I recently went to a meeting conducted by our msme board, kochi chamber , It was an online meeting . I was an attendee . There weere 5-6 speakers , and 300 plus attendees ( all Malayalees) - . All the speakers were also malayalees but they all spoke in English. Of the speakers , one was a lady. She was the one given the last chance to speak ( nothing new isn’t it !! ) The moment she started giving her presentation, she introduced herself and said she belongs to Bangalore .. there was an interruption from the audience - malayathil para, jaada venda . She said ok sure and did the presentation in half English and half Malayalam. It was so gracious of her . I wrote to the organizers that this is not fair . 1. None of the organizers or the other speakers stood up fir the lady and reined in the arrogant guy . 2. None of the speakers appreciated the lady for her graciousness - she could have pointed out a lot of facts there ... she missed the opportunity, 3. None of the speakers/ organizers realized that all the men who had previously spoken had spoken in English though there all Malayalees 4. And I asked the male speakers - how many of u would have been able to dynamically switch languages and do a speech in Tamil or Hindi that u dint know so well - what if u were asked to do it - on stage in front of a live audience . This lady had the option of telling them , am sorry this program is by a national ministry and so English will be the medium , or she could have asked why dint u have a problem when my male counterparts spoke in English , or she could have excused herself that she doesn’t know Malayalam so well , but she dint do anything of that kind . With how much ever Malayalam ate knew , she did the presentation in dual languages - English and Malayalam. Her objective was to reach the audience to her fullest potential and she did an extremely good job .she even showed magnanimity in ignoring the tone in which the guy ordered her and said ok sure 😃 And when I sent email / put this In The chat etc they all said this is not the platform for feminism, madam 🤭please go elsewhere , don’t waste our time . 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

This reminds me of RJ Mike's interviews. When an actress answers in english, it really offends few people and the cliche' Jada ' comments are seen. But then when you look at Sreenath Basi or Prithviraj's interviews, where they answer most of the questions in english,it's really hard to find such a comment and there are all praises on how nicely they speak English.
