I gotta be honest, I like a fair amount of RPGs but I agree with a lot of Scott’s points in this episode. Scott’s a pretty good writer to be able to display his perspective so well. That takes talent

This is probably still my favorite special. The “story” segments are always fun, but I really enjoyed hearing Scott talk about the tropes of the entire genre of RPGs, and I think he had a really good balance of both story and discussion this episode.

i like that the "christmas" episodes dont really have much to do with christmas, it feels like an extention of the feeling scott the woz episodes thrive in of "who'd make a whole video talking about THIS" and it just leads into "who makes a christmas special about THIS" it just fits somehow

It is interesting to me that a lot of the predominantly Nintendo youtubers don't like RPGs. I wonder if it's due to growing up playing primarily consoles like the N64 that barely had any. Then again, thats how I grew up and Pokemon and Paper Mario are what got me into RPGs in general.

100% agreed. If I can do a mini-rant about another KZbinr I like it's that the thought that you "need" to be big-budget is what soured JonTron a little bit. There have been a lot of jokes in some of his videos that are like "wow, that whole thing probably cost a thousand dollars or so and hours of filming work and I did NOT laugh." And clearly all that work has led to him uploading a video notoriously being a once-in-a-blue moon event, lol. Meanwhile I can watch his old videos that are like 480p and just him talking about a game with some funny editing and still get a laugh out of them years later.

I do agree. It's fun from time to time to watch these big budget ones but the fact they take so long to be produced (and thats is a huge thing since I binge watch his videos ALL the time) and sometimes I don't even laugh at it that much. Of course we want to see some changes and some videos to be more than just a commentary (we already have Scott's Stash) but I still prefer them just low budget. Guess I'm dumb idk.
