D'Acquerdo, Lior! Thank you!! I trained in Krav Maga with former Israeli commando (Sayeret Matkal), and learned it the right way, but I also tap into seminars offered by commercial Krav Maga organization to get extra practice in, and I'm always amazed at the inexperience and poor techniques of their students. In addition to poor technique, they are not being taught the value of following up with overwhelming aggression, as if one punch or hit will do the trick alone. They're also not being taught to "finish the fight," which is part and parcel of the overwhelming aggression just mentioned. And, as you've noted in other videos, there's a lot of slapping instead of hard core striking. So, for those interested in training in Krav Maga, try if possible to train with an Israeli commando or policeman like Mr. Offenbach.

How do we ordinary people get the chance to train the “real Krav Maga“ from former israeli military or defense people ?
@bp68774 жыл бұрын
@@manopu2113 Find a place where the Krav Maga instruction is being given by former soldiers from Israeli special forces fighting units, ideally. Not sure what part of the world you're from (India?), but Krav Maga is extremely popular tactical combat system in Asia; Former Indian or Pakistani special forces operatives will be well trained in this kind of a combat system; if not Krav, they'll be trained in SAS combat system (British). You'll know you're in the right program if you're being taught how to use overwhelming aggression to finish the fight; it's based on the premise that in the street, as in war, the only rule is that there are no rules: You must fight for your life, because it's a zero sum game. The type of aggression taught in Krav Maga is not "natural" in the sense that most people, when struck, actually do not respond aggressively, and if they do, it's usually with a single punch; one has to be taught how to dominate. Of course, you could always visit Israel and train, but one really needs to continuously train for at least six months (in my opinion) to get the fundamentals. Good luck!

The very idea of a "street fight" is flawed. In a situation where someone pushes like that they are overtly instigating or asserting dominance.The vast majority of knife attacks through video evidence the lead hand is the controlling hand, it is not pushing you away, except if they want to pin you against something, typically they wish to hold you at a distance they can stab you repeatedly. Pushing usually losses control of the person unless the person is pushing the other into or over something which establishes control, or a proper tackle or take down, or limits their attack in some way. Pushing in a controlled way can help establish range but is not a sure fire way to control, especially if the person has a base to start with an can step back, of course the confines of the space matters, so it can be used. In knife attack they are not usually picking a fight with you, the point of the attack is remove the change of you fighting back or that awareness that an attacking is coming. Those who pick fights with people are often the muscle heads who claim to know self defence. They leave out the part about not escalating or avoiding doing things that make you vulnerable outside of fighting. Sometimes a push is a warning to back off or simple ego, they might have issues or easily riled. When leaving a club, someone might get impatient shove people in the back. I have seen this, that same person could have punched those people in the back of the head, bottled them or choked them out, but they didn't. It was a show of dominance, based on skewed etiquette of aggression in their mind, that is a different thing to and attack where all the chance is skewed against you. On the other hand worst case scenario training is just a s flawed as people being jerks scenario training becuase both of them do not address the full spectrum of possibility, an narrow it down to specific all or nothing approach. When I was attacked by two junkies it was somewhat in the middle of these extremes. They were testing me they were swinging at me with a bottle, taking it turns to punch me, and spit on me. Their punches in hindsight were pretty weak, I wasn't phased by that so much as being alone on a ghost town railway platform with nobody around and the fact there were two of them. There were thing I did right overall, my distance management I did well instinctively, in fact I would get worse at it when I started martial arts. I did turn the wrong way at some point however I realised I need to to make an exit pretty sharp so corrected this almost immediately. I was able to adapt to the situation, they were asking me questions (loosely xenophobic but pretty incoherent), normally responding to them won't help, however I noticed they couldn't fight and talk at the same time. They were cognitively slow due to drugs. I just responded to them without being aggressive or vulnerable, and I was able to edge round them pretty easily and make my escape. Every situation is different. There was opportunity for me to push one of hem on the train track, but the wouldn't have yielded a better outcome for me, and I might have been pulled or pushed onto the tracks too. Learning martial art for 10+ year I probably learn the most from self analysis after buying into a lot of the flawed ideas first. Fundamental are great, however a lot of self defence is too boring to interest those who are going to a martial arts club. That is not why they are there they are just as much complicit in the myths.

The krav maga techniques are just examples for me, one way to do that, wich don't mean that there isn't other ways, the better ones.
@LudvikKoutnyArt2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I've seen quite a few of these "techniques" on KZbin, but they were rarely from Krav Maga videos. I usually found them in some of the made up self defense "systems". But when I watch most of the KM videos these days, the techniques they show are much shorter, simpler and intuitive. Basically it's usually started by a couple of simple straightforward motions and then transitions into the typical kickboxing/grappling basics, because those are the bread and butter of pretty much any physical conflict. What I am trying to say is that while there's lots of BS self defense videos on KZbin, in general, when it comes to Krav Maga labeled videos, BS techniques seem to be more of an exception than a rule :)

I bet some guys made a fortune selling the Krav Maga Licenses but in a few years it'll be the same like in Karate: It will be hard to find the 5% who actually know what they're doing.

He's right there is so much uselss BS out there. The best defence though is to master multiple styles. For instance in a one on one situation I would be inclined to close distance, hip throw then go to mount or arm bar and finish the fight... basically MMA. Sticking to one style is limited. KM is great for multiple attackers, in that situation though I would definitely take his advice and create distance.
@Cuffsmaster3 жыл бұрын
I think Krav Maga has a real problem different than most see it. KM for the most part is taught to people for self defense only. The ones that take it don't have the time or desire to be an MMA fighter. They want the most they can get for the least amount of time and money. There is nothing wrong with that. 99 present of all fights don't require a very high level of skill to win and even more so if you are just trying to get away. I think KM fills that need for many. Yeah those deep into Martial Arts want you to learn more and spend more time and MONEY but percentage wide KM is a good investment.

What I am about to say is not really about the person demonstrating in this video but rather about the evolution of the martial arts in general. Back in the day years ago someone would achieve a very high level before opening a school or teaching. They would have a legitimate rank through a teacher of real status in the world that had real lineage from a strong and real blood line of learning and the understanding and knowledge as well as abilities that would amaze most. Or they would learn from a real master like Bruce Lee did but achieved greatness with experience and a high level of that past down knowledge...that's learning a skill level for you...Bruce Lee never even had a official rank in martial arts. Now these days anyone with 10 years experience through a "coach" or through a paper master or self proclaimed internet master opens a school or is a paper master themselves. Everyone that has a video camera on KZbin is an expert. Talking...entertainment...excitement ..sensationalism..Martial arts is more than a head butt..kick..punch or technique. Learning to paint by numbers has some purpose but is not mastery ..an artist is someone that is not just technically good.That is the way a normal black belt would look back in the day..now it seems to be a mastery level. The old boys and real experience are not here anymore.The dojo floor has become KZbin. The camera owners with some experience have even convinced themselves In their mind they are of a mastery level...Who said? they did? The viewers say? What does reality say? Not too many real masters around any more or people of real experience with a high level of knowledge.... Just modern sophisticated basics...effective enough in its own right but not seasoned with the understanding of the old world knowledge of the time past..that died with most of the old real masters of the past.These days everyone is a master....so much so that there are no students left.

Is there any Krav Maga that civilians can take that’s good
@Cuffsmaster3 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. It depends on what you want and who you pay attention to for advice. Most of the people that down KM are into more sport fighting base Martial Arts or MMA. That is good and does add to the knowledge based where bits and pieces can be extracted and used in self -defense. KM is about self defense period. Street fighting - bar fighting - self defense. It is not about competing for points or whatever. KM does a good job teaching basic fighting skills for the street not the ring. 99 present of the self defense fights can be won with Krav Maga training. However most that take it are interested in basic self defense in a short amount of time for the least amount of money. That is perfectly acceptable and what KM should be about for civilians. Most people that take it are not Martial Arts junkies and live and breath it. They are not interested in being an expert in BJJ and some form of Kickboxing to enter competitions and get trophies. SO for self defense as a general rule to be effective you need some basic boxing skills with a few lower body kicks and fundamental grabbling and clinching. You will not beat an expert boxer or kickboxer with strikes or a purple or blue belt in Bjj or Judo on the ground. But common sense tells you that these are not who you will normally fight in the street.

Video is bullshit. 1. You immediately bring your other hand up to protect your face. 2. Break the grip by a sharp swing of your other hand. 3. Finish him off. You will never punch a man who has his hand extended on you as he is more likely to have longer hands to hold you in place. So dealing with a probable strike comes first then grip break then assault.
