Thanks for explaining how costco works.Have an complicated commercial calculation app, that has balanced mix of initial sales, and maintenance revenue. The concept of making a "complementary app" seems key to opening up a utility app to give the customer some more ways to use the main product, and enhance it's stickiness. I see opensource projects out there that could be the basis for such an app so it may be quite practical...
