Thank. My kid ist born with omphalocele so hi could not do the tummy time. So hie has now the problem with the head exactly what you told it would be. He ist going to a physical therapy. It seems better. Can that be completely gone? And that he can have normal simetrical head sides? I m a little bit sad and worried.

Unfortunately I haven't been doing a lot of tummy time with my 8 month old from a younger age and now I'm worried he'll be behind with his physical milestones. I've been concentrating on him sitting up more. I feel terrible for realising I have been missing out of so many months of him practicing on tummy time. How many times should I have him do tummy time per day?
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
@@dreamaberry6353 try not to worry, as I am sure you are doing a great job with your little one. In regards to how often you should do tummy time with them, just try and do it once every wake period during the day and gradually build up the length of time they are lying on their tummy. However, if your little one is already crawling then don't worry about doing tummy time, as it's not needed at this point.
@EmmaHubbard

@@jelenacepli1917 It is very understandable that you are worried. But try and remember you have done everything you can and more. It's fantastic that you have been able to get in contact with a physical therapist and it seems to be better. Unfortunately, because I cannot see your little one I cannot say if the flattening with go. But this is something his physical therapist should be able to answer. So at the next appointment if you feel comfortable, I would raise these concerns and questions. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I wish your little one all the best

@@EmmaHubbard Thanx Emma. You encouraged me sooo much. I blamed me for some part of it. I didn't do tummy time because i thought it hurt ihm (he had tummy operation) so i didn't won't to give him even more pain. I will definitely ask him the next time that we have appointment. Thanx very much for all the videos that you are putting on for all of us to see. It helps. It really does. Please don't stop. Hi Emma my son hates tummy time when he was a baby, and I tried tummy time every day even though he laid there like a starfish 😂. He did however develop flat head on the side of his head but we think that was from a bassinet that we bought for him. The mattress was far too soft and you could feel the base of the mattress against his head. I ended up putting a towel under the mattress. His head did correct itself as he grew thank goodness

Omg my baby has developed flat head on the side, so In order to fix it the baby must lay on a hard surface? My bassist had a hard flat surface but I thought that was kind of rough for the baby so I put a blanket on the hard surface.. but I see they need to lay on hard surface huh?

My four-month-old son has a colostomy bag (since one week old and will hopefully be reversed soon), and it’s difficult to get in tummy time. Trying to do short stretches and keep him upright in other ways or on his tummy with assistance. This helps to know that crying doesn’t mean he hates it! I try to get gas out of the bag so he can do it a couple times per day. Appreciate tips and workarounds!
@EmmaHubbard

Sounds like you have been doing a great job giving your little one exposure to a variety of positions. The football hold tummy time position might be one that is easier for your little one while he still has the colostomy bag. He might also like the tummy time position over your leg (you can leave a gap between your legs to accommodate the colostomy bag and ensure no pressure is being applied to it). Wishing you all the best with the upcoming surgery!

My kid spent a lot of time by my side in the day because my recovery was rough and I couldn't walk far. He grabbed my hair rolled around and I just didn't ever stop him. He'd get frustrated and fuss but he'd work it out. He started it at about a month and I figured he was playing and so I let him. He got mobile quick. Now that he's almost a year I wish he was less mobile. I had to do the floor bed stuff with him now because he climbs out of cribs. He's a beautiful little energy filled monster lol.

At the moment, I don't have any babies near me. My youngest is about to turn 13 years old. Three of my 4 children were Preemies. I did subscriber as soon as I saw your channel. This is the 2nd video I see of yours. Very Wise information. I did a research paper on SIDS back in high school, more than 30 years ago. It bin only in the last 10 years that I have hear any new information about SIDS. I think everyone who could help was afraid because it's a very sensitive situation/subject.

Funny enough, started Tummy time from day one. He didn't seem to like it one bit for the whole time lol. He is getting through his gross motor skills quickly. Sat up at 4 months assisted, 5 months unassisted, crawling at 6 months and at 6 months trying to hold and stand up. Let's see what 7 months have in store. I need to work on language development. He is not babling much despite doing a bunch of things. Gonna see if you have a video on this.

My 14 week old baby sleeps anywhere from 3-5hours for his first stretch at night and then sometimes an hour every hour after that. Please tell me why?? As when he was younger, he only woke up twice in a night and now it is more frequent. He was born 4.17, 55cm at 39 weeks. He is now 14 weeks and 6.7kgs, 65cm. If I eat massive meals and he is tired, his first sleep is longer. Please advise??

But now he doesn't do it at all I've tried changing the scenery and putting toys and mirrors in front of him and doing it in different positions he's 5 months old and still hasn't rolled over from his stomach to his back he's rolled over from his back to his stomach but only a few times he hasn't started attempting to crawl or anything like that. my baby just turned 3 months today. we’ve been letting her do tummy time at least once a day, but recently i realise that she tends to put her arms out eventhough i’ve positioned them under her chest for better support. is this normal or a proper way to do tummy time? she can hold her head up more than 45 degrees but sometimes would tend to lean to one side and eventually fall onto her back.

olden days people also put babies on their stomach which is an increased risk of SIDS. today’s medical culture recommends putting to sleep on their back and doing tummy time during when they are awake. it helps with their neck muscle development and prevents flat head. it is essential for development. even putting the baby on your chest is considered tummy time. it’s not just putting them on a flat solid surface. I also did tummy time some days with me leaning at an angle against a pillow putting my child on my chest before and even sometimes I fed her. she is 9 months now and crawling and walking (with support) but started pulling herself up and able to walk along the crib at around 6-7 months. it’s definitely from the hours of tummy time I did with her.

My son too developed a bit of a flat spot from favouring sleeping on one side. I started putting him the other way around in the bed and it corrected eventually. Sleep will put the most pressure on the skull so try and get her to sleep on her sides, if she rolls back maybe try laying down with her in bed. If I lay next to my son holding his hand he'll sleep facing me, hopefully that works for you. Also lots of tummy time or whatever play that doesn't put pressure on the back of her head. Your relatives should mind their own business.

@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi Brian! If your little one is starting to sit up and spend less time lying on their back, the flat spot on the head should not continue to flatten. In regards to getting rid of the flat spot it all depends on how severe the flatten is. If it is mild then with time it will become less noticeable but if it is severe then it is best to check in the doctor to see if a referral to a specialist is needed. If you are concerned about their neck I would recommend seeing a paediatric physiotherapist who can give specific exercises/recommendations. I hope that helps.
