As one who has suffered a dry scalp for-freaking-ever, this video has been SO helpful!! Thank you! This is the first time that I haven't had itchiness or flakes within hours of doing my hair. I mean, I can have dry, flaky, itchy scalp without having any products on my hair. So much fun. I've taken the principles and applied it using the stuff I have on hand and almost instant results!! I still need to wash every couple of days, but it's not as... urgent? as it normally is. Thank you SOOO much!!

I also have an oily scalp, and I'm 55 years old. I thought it would settle down by now. But a good thing from it is that my hair isn't dry. I have normal porosity, hydrated curls. But I have to wash every other day because of my scalp, I wish I could go longer.

I've bought all these products and tried to take lessons from what you say and it doesn't necessarily look BAD, but even sleeping with the bonnet and satin pillowcase my hair gets all wonky and refreshing doesn't make it look better. I can get one MAYBE two decent days out of it which is thanks to you and more than I got before. My hair is just too fine and thin to ever look good or have any kind of volume. Please do a video on the effects of hard water vs soft water on hair. I've been told that hard water can also cause a lot of dryness issues to the skin including scalp dryness. Please of you don't mind I would greatly appreciate it!
@nutsforthebeach3 жыл бұрын
We live in the country and have our own well. Our water is hard which is what we dealt with for the first 12 years then in March of 2019 we installed a water softener. This is when my hair issues started. I can see 'salty' type flecks on my scalp, my scalp is super dry and itchy and I've lost a lot of hair. I also went low carb in January of 2019. I've been blaming my issues on being low carb however I've come across a website whereby people are complaining of the side effects of using soft water. What happens with hard water is that it puts a coat of scum on your scalp and body, then when you change over to soft water that scum goes away. We've recently switched our water softener from calcium chloride to potassium chloride. It's only been a week so I don't know if it's going to help. By the way, my husband has no issues with a dry itchy scalp at all...of course!!! His hair is actually growing in. Is anyone else it's experiencing this with soft water?

First off... Mell you are THE BEST :) Can you tell us about “water-soluble” products? I’ve been hearing a lot in the curly community to “just use high quality water-soluble ingredients and eff everything else”
@soapturtle4 жыл бұрын
This video hit at the right time for me so I picked up both the shampoo and the hair mask from Ulta. I like the salt scrub shampoo just fine, but it could have had a bit more salt in it for more scrubbiness imo. As to the mask, and this is on me for not checking ingredients... it has Dimethicone in it fairly high up in the ingredients list. I don't mind some silicones but as a swavy fine 2b-3a haired girl, dimethicone makes my hair stick straight, so I would have greatly appreciated you covering that the mask did in fact have dimethicone in it as an ingredient, as that is generally considered one of the "bad" silicones for not being water soluble. Great channel though, keep up the good work!

I needed this video. I had a weird reaction to a hair product and have a large dry patch that I'm dealing with.

Hey there, loving what you’ve done with these videos. I recently did a big chop and am working on growing out healthy happy curls and your styling tips have been Ah-maaaaziiiing. I’m wondering if you could, please, post a video answering questions about wash 🧼 routines when going to the gym? And if it’s done, then keep being the hairs commanding badass you are and I’ll keep watching 💪🏼

Can we make a diy sugar scalp scrub? For those with sensitive scalp, big salt flakes may be harsh.
