It has taken a long time, but I finally have what I call "second day hair". Never in my life has my curly dry hair looked good the second day without washing. I now have beautiful curls second day. Working towards third day =) Thanks, Mel =)
@ReeImagined3 жыл бұрын
@Carina Tejada me too, but I'm not willing to use all those products and all the time involved to, I guess, "set" the hair? I can't keep adding products every day to revive my hair, because any products after a simple leave in conditioner weigh down my hair and makes my scalp itch and it gets all oily. I don't think I want to do every step, or have a four hour wash day, because my lifestyle is wash and go. I never blow dry my hair because it dies. I do wash every other day, and all I care about is nice healthy curls, healthy scalp, and carefree bounce back hair. I think you should think about your goals versus your lifestyle? I'm very content with what I've gotten =) I'll still condition the crap out of it and keep it healthy.
@ReeImagined3 жыл бұрын
@Carina Tejada sounds like you're on the right track =) I definitely notice great results after at least learning the basics like conditioning and hydration. I learned not to care about third or fourth day hair, if I can compromise and get what I mostly need =)

@@ManesByMell I PRAY you will read my comment Mell!!! First thanks a LOT for ur great videos and I always come back to ur channel whenever I need to know anything about hair. You put a lot of effort and research on ur content which makes it like an encyclopedia and reference for me. Second, can you please talk about the “crown area” issues??? So many curly girls have issues on their crown area and no many videos talk about them!!! For example my hair on the bottom is so soft and have beautiful curls, my crown area is super dry, coarse, not shiny and undefined NO MATTER what I do!! I literally tried EVERY THING Mell!!!!!! I am so sad and I started to think to give up. It’s becoming a struggle for me to keep my curly hair, I am so sad because I LOVE my curly hair but something is wrong and I need your help! The crown area of my head is also the most itchy and where I most lose hair. I sometimes even need different types of creams in that area only. But no matter what I do, it is SUPER DRY, and WITHOUT DEFINITION!!!😭😭😭 Just a side note, I also live in Canada, and I never ever use heating tools other than diffusing, so I was wondering if the extreme cold does the same damage as the heating tools. Although I use toques when I go out (not always to be honest - but don’t know!! I need Dr. Mell here!!!!!!). Thank you so super much!!!❤️❤️❤️

Also, when people get lices, the treatments can be really agressive on the scalp, when i was at my senior year, I got lices for about 6 months, because the hair products and treatments were not working out (also, my hair ir coarse and thick). Until i went to a different hair clinic...I have to get a scalp treatment with my dermatologist, and my Hairstylist told me that that "dry or irritated" scalp can last for about two years because of the abbrasive products. IT was a nightmare, an agony... If I get lices again, im gonna shave my whole head. Nice video Mell.🌹

Yessss, I always say this. It'll work for those very few people that have normal skin but overwashed it but if your hair is just naturally oily you either wash it or you just go about your life as a grease ball and no amount of time of your suffering trying to 'train' your hair will change it. Whenever I get that advice for my oily hair I don't even argue with it anymore like 'yeah sure Monica, great advice thanks'

I was raised to was my hair everyday so my hair is used to it. As an adult I wash my hair about 4-5 times a week. I'm glad you said what you said because most people shame me for washing it so often. 🤪

So helpful! Have you ever thought about making a master list of products you’d recommend for oily/dry/combo hair? Maybe you could put a (p)/(m)/(b) next to them indicating which are for when you need protein or when you need moisture and which ones have a balance of both or even a (h)/(l) for high/low porosity hair. Just an idea and I’m sure that would take a ton of work. If I had more time I’d go back and rewatch all your vids and see if I could figure this out, lol. Your videos have totally transformed my 3a/b curls and I appreciate you so much!! ❤️

Hey Mel! I know this is random to ask and I know you don’t normally do these kinds of videos, but would it be ok if you did a video about being single? And how to gain self love before getting into a relationship?. You just are really good with your words and the confidence you portray in your videos, I just would like to learn from you cause I’m struggling to find confidence in myself without having someone remind me all the time. Thanks

I have dry skin which sheds like crazy and because of a long hair, dead skin of my scalp can’t get out. I bought System4 shampoo and conditioner for dry flaky scalp and also their scalp tonic and moisturiser. They are the best! Of course I need to use different conditioner on my lengths, but it’s worth it.
