This is very good, the more I am thinking about it the more I see these types in my observations. I am the Ni subtype, because I spend all my time conceptualizing ideas, and I am always coming up with reasoning

As an infp I really appreciate this video thank you so much. I used to always think why I am like this but now I understand. I struggle with my internal conflicts so much. I always make plans and goals in my head but end up doing nothing because of thinking like is this really what I want or what if this is a wrong choice or thinking no the other thing is more of a good choice. I feel very upset and stuck in my thoughts all the time. I think deeply about everything. I find this habit annoying but at the same time saying to myself no this is my uniqueness but this uniqueness only inside my head and nobody will ever be able to understand it. I really want someone who is important to notice my potential. My speeches are very good in my head but when I talk I feel like I can't express myself truly. I criticise myself a lot. Agh I must stop before this becomes a stream of consciousness.

In my head I can talk for hours about something and explain everything but when I talk to people I always go blank and don’t say what I really want to say , I just forget how to put my words together when talking to other people . People make me feel dumb.

I strongly relate to everything you said.. people don't really see my uniqueness because they can't get inside my head and I have trouble expressing with words everything that's going on in there. But you know what, I'm finally fine with it. I love myself and I love my inner world. And my inner world helps me be wiser and give people good adivce, and that makes me happy! 🙃

I can’t believe you went that deeply and it’s so accurate about how I feel half the time. I feel the need to talk to others about my issues and self doubt and need reassurance that “x” is what I’m supposed to do. The problem with fi is I feel it so deeply that it’s hard to ignore and go against it. I feel some strong inner fire that I need to follow that fi thing. I don’t know how to ignore that.

Great video. I'm an infp and one of my favorite words has always been hypothesis because through out history people have made assumptions calling them true and they have changed thier ideas over and over. What was true many years ago is not true now. Also I find that nothing is truly perfect. We can have the impression that it is but what is perfect truly. What is perfect for one can be disastrous for another. Perception is another word that really makes me think. That being said I find it important that there be things that people agree on especially when it comes to relationships and society laws. To have a harmony and that we can love one another instead of the opposite. I believe there is a balance that is important to keep in between rules and freedom and that they should be based on love. And now I'm rambling lolll thank you for the video.

In response to the blind spot. This could be referred to as Internal Rhetoric or argumentative self-persuasion. Jean Nienkamp wrote a book on the subject. Very powerful tool when developed; capable of overriding the subconscious minds behavioral response over time. The blind spot hasn't been an issue for me as I tend to always second guess my own assessments. Even though I'm quite knowledgeable, I don't tend to be very opinionated as I feel there's simply too many perspectives to choose from regarding pretty much any given subject. When experience is limited I especially try to keep my mouth shut; the only thing capable of preventing me from doing so are feelings of injustice (or narcotics). On a sidenote, finding my spirituality has been by far the biggest catalyst of change in my life. It is the one thing that taught me not all questions need to be asked or answered; trying to explain the mystical is a pointless endeavor. Applying my spiritual belief to my internal Rhetoric has gifted me with a greater sense of control and peace of mind.

You are so right about how it changes you and your perspective a lot when you develop a different function. As an INTJ with an INFJ mother and an ESFJ step-mom (both of them having strong Fe), I was surrounded by strong Fe all my life and I have actually become quite good with my Fe. I'll never be as good as a real "Feeler" but I am SO MUCH BETTER with people and their feelings and values now than I was in my teens and early twenties. I'm 52 now and feel that I'm actually quite good with that function and it has made my life far easier over the last 3 decades and far more rich in my relationships, both personal and work.

I think it can be a huge obstacle for INFPs (I'm an INFP 9w1 btw)... a huge obstacle for people to not see our idealism and wanting to help others, etc. How frustrating it is when others just don't get as empathetic as we can (btw other types can get very empathetic, too, I'm not saying we are truly special.) But we do have that ability to give certain people "soft spots" for us (yes, you Erik, being silly but thanks for opening up to our type). You give such a scientific objective analysis about INFPs and other types. I love we have all these different types, yes even the Sensors (hehe). Thanks again for your contributions. Your many videos on all personality types have helped me gain empathy for other types. (ps: throughout life, I think I've been all these subtypes but I've also grown). Right Erik I've grown (validation)? I'm right about my idealism right? (validation) I shouldn't have written this because what will you and others think about me? (sensitive). Yes, all of what I just said are for humor's sake against my own INFP nature. But I have become more objective and respectful of other types. Isn't that the goal? :-)

INFP-A my belief is I fit the sub type Ni best. As the Sage does fit me the most. More now I am older. I think at times all the sub types come into play. I think the INFP-A type being more assertive can get a bad reputation when they are younger but can evolve and transform when they get older and mature. Stronger values and less egotistical we will be there to back you up.

What stresses me at work is when the company I work for has has a plan for a new production line and I have some experience in making that product, I can within minutes I tell if that plan is going to work. I can project in my mind (roughly) what the line could look like and pitfalls that maybe ahead. It's like the The model projection that Iron Man used to build his inventions. But when I tell management about my concerns they'll just pretend to listen and in a few months time I'm working on the line and everything I predicted will go wrong went wrong and I'm seething in a Ni Ti loop. 😫😫😡😠😭

I totally adore you Erik! But I just have to say that every time you say INFPs have "introverted intuition" it drives me crazy. As an INTJ, I have dominant Ni and my mother was an INFJ also with dominant introverted intuition and my ex-wife is an INFP (not sure which sub-type but she's incredibly good at problem-solving and being very good at seeing other people's perspectives). My current girlfriend is also an INFP but VERY different. I think she might be the NF subtype because she always thinks she's right. As an INTJ, as you can imagine, it drives me crazy that she is this way because I usually actually KNOW that I AM right. LOL. Seriously though, she doesn't believe me even when I really am right. She's pretty incapable of seeing other people's perspectives. Anyway, I got side-tracked there. Re the Ni vs Ne, they are not the same. INFPs have extroverted intuition, not introverted intuition. What INFPs do with their intuition is NOT the same AT ALL as what me and my INFJ do with our Ni. Perhaps you are seeing INFPs using their Ni critical parent function but it's not the same as Ni in INTJs and INFJs.

I only came upon the Myers Briggs personality types a few days ago and while its fascinating and really helpful in understanding the diversity of humanity (much like astrology ) its somewhat dizzying. Maybe its a generational thing, as Im an elder and notice this methodology for defining humans is mostly embraced by millenials. Much like astrology in the 70' s. Anyway , I heard one commentor day that people will always have these characteristics and will not change with age. Essentially, I think people ' s personalities do remain basically the same , but the experience of life itself over time does very much add and take away layers and layers of subtext . I' m really awesyruck by the brilliant articulations of youngs uns , like yourself. When I was your age I knew that the only hope for the world would be the brilliant children not yet born. And here you are! Its wonderful to listen to all this info... .but I gotta say too....I do think its part and parcel with being young....which is never easy really. Very interesting though and I look forward to when it is correlated with western and eastern, and Mayan astrology.

This is your moral compass and it lets you make decisions based on what you believe is right and in balance with who you truly are inside. It's also introspective which means it allows to understand yourself and find harmony from there... It also makes you empathic because it allows to imagine yourself in a situation, so you'd feel what the other person is most likely feeling, so you undeestand others emotions if you pay attention. So it's important for you to make decisions, to understand yourself, to be empathic. For people around you, it means they find a good friwnd who listens and knows how they feel, you also help society in doing whats right like not polluting the environment for example. You can also inspire and guide people on their introspective journey, help them who they really are and how to be in harmony with themselves.

How are the subtypes connect to functions? It's kinda confusing because INFPs are supposed to have Ne (auxiliary) but you talked about a Ni subtype etc.
@liadanryan-gerhardt7189
@liadanryan-gerhardt7189 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah doubly confused, here, too...? I thought he meant an Ne subtype too? Mayhaps it's an Ni subtype for INFPs as there is the theory (whether it is commonly agreed upon, I do not know) that the extroverted and introverted variants of each function are closely connected. So for example someone with strong Fi will equally be comfortable using Fe. Does this make sense?

Hi Zesh, I'm a fellow INFP and have been watching a lot of Erik's videos. (note: I will share with you two INFPs who also have YT channels and they talk about INFP stuff all the time and self-help to become our most Healthy INFP). When Erik mentions us never 100% making up our mind I have found it helpful that at least trying one avenue will help us grow. We can learn from mistakes even if we don't want to make them. That will help us. I have even had trouble getting a smoothie. So indecisive at times. haha. But then when I just get a certain smoothie I often love it. Even if I hated it I LEARNED. Learning for we INFPS is so refreshing. We don't feel like losers stuck in time... ... If we spend our time and valuable INFP energy worrying what to do next we get older. A research study was done on 100 yr olds. They were asked what the regretted the most. They didn't say that they did this or that BUT they mentioned the things they never even try because they can never even try to do that again and life is truly a gift. What do you think Zesh? If you'd like to ask other questions I'd love to "try" at least to be helpful. You know as an INFP me helping people helps me feel like I am accomplishing something. This is a bit lengthy but I hope you enjoy. As an INFP I kept thinking of revising it and making it less wordy but then Id never post this. haha. (oh and if Erik Thor gets this message please feel free to add and help Zesh out. It takes all of us to be the most efficient at helping each other. :-) )

I'm not really sure why but I decide wayy too quickly. Almost irrationally ;D I think I made this a habit of mine, coz if i had to step back and think hard and deep about something i will definitely be stuck. I can actually never make a pro/con list about anything or anyone !!!! Like in my head there's nothing that can actually be considered as con. Do you think the sub-types can change in a person’s type over the years, say with personal growth or just with lifestyle changes to include environment, whatever else influences a person’s life.

You got contacted by an INFP a few months ago who was offended that I said INFPs have an inclination for both confirmation bias (leading to all sorts of crazy beliefs in many INFPs) and remarking their uniqueness when generalizations about them don't align with their personal experiences or values, to which I provided evidence in multiple forms. You quickly consoled the INFP and went about your day, stuffing cement in the cracks of her illusion which I was busy shattering. I'm an INTP. Screw you for that lmao. Now I know they're your soft spot. Exposed! xD

It is not the role of Gods to mettle in the war between INTPs and INFPs. You've abused your almighty KZbin fame and now you must be beheaded. "INTP bullies INFP, INFP calls INFJ, INFJ consoles INFP, INTP rages at INFJ." Never been seen before. 😂

Thomas Mortensen MBTJ is a small part of who you are! Could you explore further with open mind? Every individual is unique and we can not pin down but some people share common trend but it doesn’t mean anything! Try to learn good things from each personality and consider it when you interact with them instead of being annoyed or outrageous 🙃

@@kang-heeellalee9862 no sorry, every person is exactly the same, and all other personality types than mine (all other 15 people in the world) are inferior and don't need to exist.

Thomas Mortensen I think you are in matrix! Pls think over our current human condition! That’s why you feel in that way! Yes! 99% humans live like the animals without own thought. Human beings are supposed to be a continuum of body mind soul! I’m talking about in 1% of human beings. All theory can not be applied b/c most people live in matrix! I give you a whole pic then think further you may understand what I am talking better Don’t be a frog in the well pls!!!!
