My Fluid simulations never work, I add a uv sphere then then select fluid, then change the settings to liquid and inflow and domain resolution to 64. pretty much the same setting you use and see no particles when i bake data. this happens everytime

experimenting with blender. been using Maya since V1 (for my job) and Fusion for fun. also an old after effects guy. Problem with blender and learning is that they change so much with every iteration people get confused by watching tutorials online. example, it looks like they already changed 9:23 for the "bake all" part, from "type:final" to "type "all".. not sure why they would change something like this, when "final" made perfect sense. not entirely blenders fault, its just that people are following older (and by older I mean maybe months ago) tuts that are outdated and not working. this program is SERIOUSLY trial by fire. I've spent so much time doing tutorials over and over and over just trying to get a result. its a bit overwhelming. When I first started using fusion it was predictable and results were the same every time. they barely changed up the important things (UI and UX stuff) and it gave some continuity to learning.

Very nicely laid out! I would argue that bringing up the surface thickness is not always a nice way to go as it makes the fluid not touch your collision object anymore, but your explanation is very helpful to understand glitchy behaviour. :) More often than not I think it comes down to creating realistic objects (nothing in our world is 2D after all) and bringing up timesteps as you mentioned.

did you ever find a fix for this issue ?
@TheDJkarsy3 жыл бұрын
@@razz6539 Hmmm, that was a long time ago but if I remember correctly pumping up the resolution size helps create smaller fluid particles. But of course that increases bake times. I would suggest getting Flip Fluids if you can afford it, I have been using it since and it is much better but it is pricey.

If I render just a solid cylinder in Cycles and apply a glass material, it pretty much comes out looking like glass (although, even after smoothing, I still seem to be able to see in the reflection the mesh divisions). However, if I make a cylinder, remove the top face, apply a thickening modifier, smooth it and add a glass material, it seems to come out very dark, almost black when rendered in cycles?
