This was great, I've been looking for "better public speaking and presentation" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ganlizabetharn Glorious Gratification - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to master public speaking without the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got great success with it.

Thank you! You were right. I was stressing over a vlog/science video presentation, treating it like a workout, filming for 6 hours with little progress. I also sounded like a robot, as I memorized the speech, and the delivery was monotone. The moment I focus on the range of tone, my brain stops because it wasn't what I memorized. I'll keep these tips in mind.

I'd like to add: 1. Practicing in the mirror, watch your expressions, making sure they are relaxed and not intense. No one wants to see someone look uptight. 2. I like to practice my speech as I walk around doing my usual mundane things. Makes me feel like I'm just thinking, rather than spouting facts. 3. Perhaps, consider what someone might ask and study the subject further. That's just a personal preference since I'm an over-thinking perfectionist 3. Practice with friends, they can help you improve and give you tips 4!! ENJOY YOURSELF!!🎉

Hi Alex, Thank you for the practical suggestions on doing a speech or presentation. I'd like to share my approach, which involves cutting the text into sections and then reading them piece by piece until I have memorized them all. This has been my method for speeches and presentations, even when speaking in Mandarin Chinese or a non English native speaker. Before watching your video, it was the only approach I used. I will give your suggestion a try and see how it can help me improve. Thank you, Alex.

A really important thing I've learned in this video has to do with spreading your time as well as how to use your time wisely when practicing for speeches. Cramming for any subject is never good, but for public speaking you really want to space your time out in order for your brain to process the information given to it. Another key detail to practicing efficiently is to work on topics one or two at a time for each practice session. At the end of practicing the speech should feel like second nature to you and this allows the speaker to have a more smooth time when it comes to giving the speech.

Great tips. One thing that will also help you to present and especially to not be nervous is to know 100% what youre talking about. Sometimes you know what u say but not good enough. This makes you nervous and it will ruin for u if someone asks a question and u dont have the answer. Knowing what youre talking about well makes it possible for you to talk without any talking points, it could be just pictures and you explain with your own words.

I came across this just to get ready for my senior project (I’m in an advanced academy so they grade me harder). The first tip he gave was don’t do word for word. Honestly for me I wrote my speech word for word and read them out loud, not to memorize it but to memorize the outline of it. I hope that makes sense. Haha.
@alexanderlyon
@alexanderlyon 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren. You could try, in the future, to only make bullet points and not write a presentation out word for word at all. Then, just keep practicing from the outline only. I'm guessing it'll make you sound more conversational and interesting and natural.

The one with the key words is a MUST! Because it helps to keep the flow of your speech stable and not make you stop like”emmhm...” and think. But just by glancing at the key words, you know what you have to say. Basically you don’t run out of ideas and you have your thoughts organized... 🤔 That basically was the key to my success😂 Plus, one more thing I’d like to add, is to interact (based on the kind of presentation you’re giving) with the people so as to keep their attention solely focused on you. You can do that by asking questions. It’s really fun for you too 😌
