Dozens of people from Mancos and the surrounding area headed into the forest Thursday afternoon to remove a fence recently put up by a group called the Free Land Holder Committee.

They wanted it left in place for now to use as evidence, but if this gets the message to the cult that put it up, I'm for it. Those who put the effort into taking it down should get to do as they please with the materials. Leaving it up would be a danger to those using that land.

A little bit of background. The Free Landholders' "Ambassador", Patrick Pipkin, says that he, and the Association, do not recognize the authority of the Sheriff's Office, the Forest Service, and the federal government in general because they live in a different United States of America. They claim to live in "The United States of America" as created by the Articles of Confederation in 1777. The successor entity, under the US Constitution which replaced the Articles of Confederation in 1789, was created, they believe, according to treaties signed by the US with King George. Those treaties referred to "the United States of America". Since the "T" was capitalized in the first instance and not in the second, the Free Land Holders say that those are two completely different entities, ruled by completely different governing documents. Yes, that's really at the heart of their claim.
@feekalphabeet92172 күн бұрын
This needs more attention. This fencing is extremely fishy and illegal.
@robertcooper6853Күн бұрын
Do some research on this situation. The Freeholders are citing a law that was nullified in the 1970s as their legal reason for “seizing” this land. They were not barring access to it, though. The dispute is in the courts being litigated currently. Taking down an illegal fence when access to the property was not being denied is going to create its own headaches.

I have seen this problem before where private property was used as public land for years, (I hunted on the land). The owner of the land did not care if we trespassed on his land. After his passing the estate sold the land and the new owners posted the land with No Trespassing signs. We thought that the someone had just put up the signs with the right. Only after we met the new owner that we learned he was the rightful owner. He allowed us to deer hunt that season on this land as we were the second generation to hunt there. The following year we had to find a new place to hunt.

I had an adverse property seizure against me I own the land paid taxes etc. I won in a public hearing All people in the court room that day were couldn't believe that case had even come to the judge to continue to a private judgment and lost there. No witnesses. because I took the fence down and the judge was somebody's pocket I lost just my opinion

Well, this was a good teaser. I hope I cross paths with more of the story, but I doubt I put that much effort into getting more information so hope the algorithms kick in!

No idea what state this happened in? Public land is what the use class calls it: public land . Sad that someone, or several someones thought it was acceptable to do.

Where’s the township in all of this? Why did the cops tell them to hold off from removing the fence? Good for them for taking action instead of waiting for a long drawn out decision. Well, you got free t-posts and barbed wire.

Any public land can be sold to a private owner….. would love to see how this plays out

I wonder if there was an under the table deal to sell that portion of land by a corrupt politician.

Hey Barbara Middleton, do you clean up after your dogs when you’re out there on public land? DOG waste contains high levels of bacteria that is harmful to others such as wild animals and people. According to the EPA, one gram of dog waste can contain upwards of 23 million fecal bacteria, and is considered as toxic as an oil spill! When left to the elements, all of this eventually makes its way to our waterways through erosion and rain, often contaminating everything it passes. Wild animal waste only reintroduces nutrients and material that was already present in the ecosystem. Nothing new is added, it is simply preexisting material i.e. plant leaves, that has been partially broken down or dispersed. The ecosystem functions normally with the addition of this waste, as the natural processes that occur have always functioned including this waste. Some research has actually shown that animal waste performs functions beyond the obvious fertilizer for the natural environment. A study done in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park showed that bear feces actually contained a large number of seeds from local plants, and when left to decompose, many plants grew from these seeds. Through this the bear waste actually helped native plants disperse seeds and grow in new areas.

Nobody showed me it was public land. All i saw was people saying it was public. And the police stopping them. Wonder why they were stopped.

Who are 'they'? What type of public land is it? Forest Service, BLM, State trust, or other? Did you discuss this with a lawyer? What's the point of view of the other party?
