That middle finger meme reminds me of how G1 Optimus used to be verbally savage in a way that future iterations completely forgot about. That personality trait needs to come back. Me, it reminded of the Trailer for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which had a very similar scene in it. I still remember that Trailer fondly as the moment I knew beyond a doubt that I would give that movie a pass. It's childish, not funny, incredibly cringe and makes me fear for the movie and any potential sequels. I am so happy to hear this. I'm 43 years old and have loved Transformers since watching G1 as a little kid, back when it was still on TV. I have watched the other shows and movies, some disappointed, some were good, but I tried to give them all a fair shake before drawing conclusions. But it sounds like this movie hits all the right spots and really delivers on a new continuity that does it's best to honor what came before. It sounds too like Chris Hemsworth is really coming into his own as a voice actor. That whole thing about how he doesn't want to impersonate Peter Cullen but rather using what Peter said about playing that part and using that in his performance. That is someone who respects what came before and wants to carry it to a new generation. Mad respect on that.

A little spoiler warning for my comment! I think D-16's turn into Megatron is something that's really executed with subtlety, but you can definitely notice more once you look back on the film in more detail. Watching the film, you can see that D-16 is clearly just as tired with the caste system in place just as much as Orion is, but is more content with it than Pax is because of his belief in Sentinel Prime. Throughout the movie we're shown time and again how much D-16 practically worshipped the Primes and that he had faith that Sentinel would fix Iacon's broken systems once he found the matrix of leadership and how completely shattered he was once he learned the truth. We're shown how fed up he gets by being constantly bossed around by his superiors, and his build-up of frustration is totally understandable given how we see him get treated. The fact that the bot he worshipped turned out to be nothing more than a false idol really tears D-16 apart and you can definitely see the subtext behind it when you look at his story in the film as a whole. It's like telling a church pastor that the god they believe in is not who they believe he is, and that so-called god really couldn't care any less about the people who worship him. It shatters his heart because D-16 loses his faith in someone who he idolized, and that betrayal ends up leading to something darker. D-16 spent his entire life dealing with abuse, but pushed through it because he believed someone was fighting for his people's (miners) rights, but really wasn't. You can definitely understand his feelings of betrayal and why he wants to kill the man who deceived their entire race and why he goes full Megatron when Orion tries to stop him when he considers Pax's actions as betrayal despite all the times D-16 looked out for him even after Orion got him in trouble so many times. After D-16 finds out the truth, he told Orion that he was the 1 last person he still trusted and how much it hurt him seeing Orion protecting the guy who stole their freedoms and made them slaves for their entire lives.

In my opinion, this film successfully developed a story of how a good character gets subdue by hatred and transitions into a villain with such a short screen time where as movies like Star Wars had taken three movies for the same character development and can be argued that it wasn't done as well.

I just thought of something really cool for Soundwave in TF:ONE What if Soundwave used to served Megatronus Prime and THATS why he so loyal to Megatron. Not only is he carrying on the name of his former boss/friend but he is also trying to create a society that Megatronus would be proud of. It could also deepen his hatred of Starscream when he tries to betray Megatron as all he sees is another Sentinel Prime and, not wanting to loss him again, he does WHATEVER he can to stop him. Makes you wonder which prime the other Decepticons served previously Starscream - Liege Maximo (common seen as a Loki like figure within the 13 and VERY mischievous) Shockwave - Alchemist Prime (the groups go to NEEEEERD) Skywarp - Vector Prime (one manipulates space whilst the other manipulates time) Thundercracker - maybe Prima (he often times is depicted as reluctant to hurt the humans) Slipstream - Solus Prime (sole females of their respective groups) Knockout - Quintus (perfectionists) Honestly thinking about which con was commanded by which prime could be fun (I also hope we get a few figures of the 13 Primes cause I'd 100% buy a few of them, especially MegaTARNus (cause he looks like tarn) and Solus Prime)

86 is impossible to top, it has its own place. This movie has the most difficult task of trying to match 86. I think it’s a great movie, it did it the right way, to be its own entity, get the lore correct so that you can have all the G1 ingredients cohesive and comprehensive so that the story can move forward l, making new but familiar stories. They did a great job of mixing different iterations of the background and origins and continuity of characters and their home. But I just think that the new movie lacks the charm and soul of 86. I was thinking about how to rate a movie and the way I figure it, it’s the rewatch-ability. The dialogue, how many lines you live quoting, or scenes rewatching. The TF One movie has heart and does a lot of things well, but I think it’s something intangible from a bygone era to be short to match or top 86.

I know this is a hot take for some, but just from what I see alone - it's clearly obvious Transformers just works way better in animation than with live action. I think the future of this franchise would do itself far better in the movie industry if it kept going this way rather than the former route. Excellent review btw, can't wait to see the film next week!

I like the subtle approval Megatron that he gave to Orion when he became Optimus Prime like he always knew Orion would make it but at the same time hoping that he should have stay dead so Orion wouldn't see what he have become.

My GOD. I saw this yesterday. I collect the comics and have seen almost every movie and watched every cartoon. This was AMAZINGLY well done. I was nervous about some of the cheezy humor clips, but they were able to smooth out the kid friendly scenes with the adult ones reaaally well. The animation and fight chorography was creative and beautifully done. The backdrops of cybertron were phenomenally beautiful. I got so damn excited when more recognizable characters started to pop up in the plot. The actors did a fantastic job, and I've heard many renditions of optimus prime. Chris did a fantastic job going from Cheeky Newbie to the prime we know. If they make a sequal, I'm 10000% down to see it.

5:35 okay, I HATED the comedy for the trailers but this one got me. I was being super critical about this movie based on the trailers but I’m honestly open to it and hope it’s as good as I’m hearing it is.
@outcast40873 ай бұрын
When the first trailers started to show up, I thought the designs were way too cartoony, and assumed that the movie itself would be cartoony as well, and as such I had no intention of watching it. In fact, I've had my own vision of how a movie like that could be made, based on the Aligned Continuity books. Ideally it would be two movies, origins of Megatron and Optimus. One would follow perspective of Orion Pax, an idealistic, pacifistic archivist who would become more and more aware of the corrupt system he lives in, though still retaining some slight privileges. The other would follow Megatronus, a former slave, who didn't even have a name of his own, who fought his way up from the lowest of the low. A revolutionary who was willing to do whatever it takes to abolish the caste system and the High Council that thrived on it. Show Orion's disapproval of Megatronus' violent ways, only to then show in Megatronus' perspective that the Decepticons were forced to do it, because otherwise the Council would not take them seriously. But now I do want to check this movie out after all, even though it's clearly not what I had envisioned.

I know I’m the only one saying this, but the ending of the movie is probably one of the best parts of the movie. I love how we see arcee in other characters like Ironhide.

I saw the movie today and it was AWESOME. It had great moments in it both funny and serious. You really care about the characters and it also really became sad when you had to watch optimus and megatron become enemies especially when you watch this movie from beginning to end. A solid 10/10 for me

My favorite part was when elita called the others “go-bots” that’s a reference very few people will get. (For those who don’t know back in the 80’s gobots were competitors to transformers) I got the reference cause my dad watched both shows when he was a kid

It felt like I went back to my Childhood... The Transformers came out back in 1986 that was 2 years before my birth and at that time it was the greatest cartoon movie for me growing up till i started watching Anime and still that movie is in my Top 3 after Cowboy Bebop & Ghost In The Shell...I am 36 and I am not gonna lie...it felt so goooooood Transformers One is funny, beautiful, subtle with social/political message, deadly serious when it comes to issues & consequences which has been missing in western animation by a kid standard....Kids understand right & wrong ...they are not dumb...kids will laugh love and legit like the badass moments...Finally a worthy prequel...Go Transformers
