Dino bots were an Earth, Autobot creation. They didn't come around until after the Decepticons and Autobots had just about brought their race to extinction. Granted it appears to have been retconned several times over with Dinobots showing up during the war. I always love those guys for while they aren't the smartest, they make Decepticons tremble in fear at their destructive nature.

I am so happy to hear this. I'm 43 years old and have loved Transformers since watching G1 as a little kid, back when it was still on TV. I have watched the other shows and movies, some disappointed, some were good, but I tried to give them all a fair shake before drawing conclusions. But it sounds like this movie hits all the right spots and really delivers on a new continuity that does it's best to honor what came before. It sounds too like Chris Hemsworth is really coming into his own as a voice actor. That whole thing about how he doesn't want to impersonate Peter Cullen but rather using what Peter said about playing that part and using that in his performance. That is someone who respects what came before and wants to carry it to a new generation. Mad respect on that.

86 is impossible to top, it has its own place. This movie has the most difficult task of trying to match 86. I think it’s a great movie, it did it the right way, to be its own entity, get the lore correct so that you can have all the G1 ingredients cohesive and comprehensive so that the story can move forward l, making new but familiar stories. They did a great job of mixing different iterations of the background and origins and continuity of characters and their home. But I just think that the new movie lacks the charm and soul of 86. I was thinking about how to rate a movie and the way I figure it, it’s the rewatch-ability. The dialogue, how many lines you live quoting, or scenes rewatching. The TF One movie has heart and does a lot of things well, but I think it’s something intangible from a bygone era to be short to match or top 86.

Watched the movie yesterday. I went in blind without seeing any trailers or clips. I only knew it was an animated film. The movie did not disappoint. It was amazing how they brought life to Cybertron. It's a heartfelt movie that never skips a beat. The animation is also incredible. I'm going to watch it again tomorrow. Right I'll be honest, I wasn't on the hype train for this movie after watching the trailer as Hemsworth, with all due respect just isn't 'my' Optimus Prime, and I am not big on the comedic angle because its supposed to be a movie about the beginning of the great war. That being said, thanks for this video and breakdown. I'm a lot more optimistic about the movie, and your breakdown has changed some of my views about the comedy and Chris as Optimus or should I say, Orion. The voice still feels a bit off to me but now I'm sure that I want to watch this movie with a blank slate and judge it for what it is, and not for what I expect from it based on my previous experience.

I liked the film but they did the Decepticons poorly. The film treated them as bots who overreact and became violent teenagers in one day. The IDW comics and the Transformer Prime novels portrayed the conflict as a gradual process that took years (I don't know how time is measured for Cybertronians). Plus, Megatron hating the primes made no sense when he saw the primes sacrifice themselves to fight the Quintessons and stop Sentinel. What happened to Megatron in the film was a complete 180. Megatron's hate and resentment in the film should have been directed at the Primes rather than Orion Pax's shenanigans. Orion Pax not being an archivist was a huge letdown as his profession is one of the major reasons why he is a good leader, matrix or no. He studied politics alongside Megatron which is why they are both good at politicking despite being good warriors.

Besides the designs and the very simplistic transformations that calls back to the Original G1, my favorite part has got to be where Optimus was receiving the Matrix and a part of the theme from Transformers Prime was used. I just wished they could've followed that up with the full main chorus of that theme as Optimus rises. Pretty sure every hardcore transformers fan would be screaming for joy. I know I would

Honestly, I think Megatron's fall wasn't that all too sudden in my opinion. Spoilers: Throughout the movie, we see how D-16 always goes with whatever Orion Pax's ideas even if it affects them like the whole getting demoted thing. He follows Pax till the second act of the movie and even when he says no still gets convinced by his friend over and over again and forced to race at one point. So D-16 is a good and loyal friend that sticks by Pax no matter what. But then the whole sentinal thing happened and he just can't help but be angry, I mean won't you be angry that your entire existence was stripped from you before you're even born? I got chills in just thinking back to his line "I want to kill him!" he meant sentinal btw. So of course he hopes that the one person, the one person who's been by his side, the one that he has sacrificed, saved, and helped, the one that made him do the craziest things but he still obliges cause he is his best friend...Says no to killing Sentinal right in his face..he loses it. I also love how the film portrays his downfall by the color of his eyes. They became orange when he recruited the high guard with his speech, they turned back yellow when he saved Pax from falling after accidentally shooting him but slowly turning orange again until finally turning red signifying he has had enough of him. They also turned dark red for a second when Optimus banished him from iacon! I watched the movie twice and just seeing all the details, just gives me goosebumps

Comodin Cam I LOVE your review! When it was first announced a few years ago, I was VERY skeptical-but I MUST ADMIT: all the stuff that has been revealed has me hyped! I also love how you summed up the live-action films, I too feel that they kept a barrier between the audience and characters in terms of properly making us informed about, and care more about, our beloved Cybertronian beings. Also, for me it is pretty cool WHO comprises the cast: standouts for me are Chris Hemsworth, Keegan Michael Key, Laurence Fishburne, Steve Buscemi as Starscream, Bryan Tyree Henry and Scarlet Johanssen. Thanks to your video, I found out that Jon Bailey did the voice. In 2015 I got in touch with him on the back of the Honest Trailer thing, and he recorded a bunch of intro's for our band that we still use before our shows!

Same here. We should have gotten something more like Fall of Cybertron. The way I imagined an origins movie is with G1 designs (like Bumblebee), but with slight little touches of Bayverse textures. And of course Peter Cullen and Frank Welker playing their iconic characters respectively. And I think the Primes should have been voiced by the voice actors of the G1 series in their honor. What do you think?
