Is the Daikin a simple mini-split style unit while the Bosch has an air handler with ducting? I've noticed the units with ducting are not as efficient as the air handlers don't vary speed to match the compressor like the mini-splits can.

Very good question. The Daikin is a traditional air handler paired with a mini split outdoor. There are several products that have hit the market recently like this. The Bosch only has an inverter outdoor unit, it doesn’t talk to the indoor unit or thermostat and functions as a two stage product.
