After about 80,000 miles on our 2 Teslas, I no longer worry or even think about range. Not an issue even on long trips or cold weather. I am much more concerned with tread life.

My efficiency decreased at first on CC2 vs MXM4, but after several months or so, it has gone back down to same 240wh/mi I had on MXM4. Perhaps needs some break-in time. Noise is bit more (sort of whirr), but not too loud on smooth surfaces, but notably louder on rough surfaces. Tread life is a LOT longer so far (almost double? 50-60k vs 30k?), and it is CHEAPER let alone better tire, so..!

I put Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires on my Chevy Volt after 2 sets of eco tires failed me. They are understating how bad eco tires are in snow or rain, you might as well put skis on your car. The slight loss of range is worth the safety of good tires. Unless you live in a desert I would remove your eco tires immediately.

So here’s a question: how about slapping some EV tires on my gas car? 10% fuel economy bump?
@rudyyyxu Жыл бұрын
not as much. EVs are more sensitive as they are already so efficient

@@ILoveTinfoilHats It depends on what impacts an ICE drivetrain's efficiency the most. The rolling resistance may be a much smaller factor than on an EV drivetrain.
@ILoveTinfoilHats Жыл бұрын
@@HydraliskX Considering air resistance is about a magnitude higher of an impact than rolling resistance, 10% is physically impossible.

Nice comparison! Going with the MXM4 for my Acura cruiser. Hope it's a comfortable riding tire. We might get snow once or twice a year so don't need the extra winter traction.
@ryanpetree6475 Жыл бұрын
So basically instead of having snow tires for a couple months of the year, You would just get a efficiency set on the stock wheels for longer range trips, and for everyday to work etc, then go all out and get some extra wide wheels and sticky tires to have fun. ok got it!

I have a question. My Tesla Model 3 came with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S T0 tyres. In my country there are no Primacy 4+ T1 available, only the standard Primacy 4+ (without being Tesla-approved, so no T1). Should there be a huge difference? I would prefer buying the Primacy over the Pilot Sports (more comfortable, improved wet performance, and I want the care to drive at a normal speed so I don't need performance tyres) but I worry that because the Pilot Sports are Tesla-approved (T0) they would be less noisy/overall better than the Primacy 4+.

Still have never driven a Michelin tire that I liked! In my estimation, that is the first problem with your testing! The second is that you are testing two totally differently designed and marketed tires against each other - of course, your 'results' are what they are!
